  1. For me: Star Wars transitioning to the Rebels/Episode 7 sets. What will be the Christmas 2014 super flip set.(my guess, Disney Princess) Will Lord of the Rings continue? What will the future hold for CMF's? Will the Death Star finally die? Will Lego ban me? Will my wife divorce me?

  4. They didn't pay $10,000. They paid $946 and $836 - check the purchase history. The $10,000 price was what the seller changed it to after the sale. Most likely to "hold" his place in search while he tried to get more in stock. Then, he ended the listing, probably deciding he wasn't going to be able to acquire more (at which point he'd have reduced the price from $10,000). The tactic of increasing the price sky-high is common among sellers who have purchase history on an item, because it does somewhat hold a search placement in Cassini, which considers previous sales of that specific eBay listing in where it throws you in search. Edited to add: The reason for the sky high price is so the item WON'T sell, because the seller didn't have any more. And if by some freak chance it did sell, he knew he could easily acquire the set for way less than $10,000 and fulfill the order.

  5. I've stopped at Goodwill after seeing reports about a dozen times. I always leave wondering how anyone finds stuff there and then I take a shower.

  7. The Simpsons House will be one of Lego's Top selling set of all time. 85% of the world no who the Simpons are, compared to 10% no what the 41999 Crawler set is. I would recomend buying one of these whenever you can, as I am shooting for 40 of these, should be a 2 year license. I no most guys on here say I will buy them when they are retiring, Well lets see how many guys used that strategy for the Fire Brigade in other words who missed the boat on the Brigade, looks like most auctions are ending between $239-259 and rising. If you have a $1000 to burn go get a Simpsons House, HH,GE,Batman Ayslym,10220 VW Camper etc, instead of coming out of Walmart,Kmart, etc with baskets full of cheap clearance stuff that most is not worth the money and will sit in a closet, under the bed or wherever, "Now if you are a flipper and no exactly what you are doing well thats great. 10. That's pretty interesting. I wish my WalMart would get off their butts and order more LEGO, right after they clearance the few they have. Did you introduce yourself as Reese Cellar?

  13. Are you looking at the tracking through ebay? If so go to the wwebsite from the shipping service itself I.E. USPS, FedEx ect. Ebay is the worst at updating tracking info. I have received items and 3 days later ebay still says the item hasn't left the original dispatch center.

  14. I called my local Lego Store today and they confirmed they would be selling the Simpsons House beginning tomorrow. I asked them point blank, "If I come tomorrow morning, will I be able to buy it?" She was very clear that corporate gave them the approval to begin selling the set tomorrow.

  15. Try sending with indirect signature next time. From ebay: "You would be covered for transactions of up to $250, provided you meet the other basic requirements of the seller protection policy. For transactions of $250 or more, you would also have to require a signature at delivery. You could use any of the three signature options available

  16. I've done this a few times, during the Kroger clearances. I went out once to hit some stores 45 minutes away and found nothing. Stopped at a random goodwill and found a monorail for $8! Best purchase I've ever made.

  18. I have found this to largely be a waste of time, particularly in the past few years. The problem is that, with the prevalence of websites like this, deals become known very quickly and all of the good stuff gets snapped up either by dedicated Lego resellers or the SD crowd. Personally, I wouldn't waste the time or gas.

  19. Yes, you missed one. In fact there ARE FIVE Modular Buildings out right now. The fifth one (same pricing, same piece count, same size as "normal" modulars) could see a good rise in value after EOL (even more than some other modulars, except the Restaurant) once modular collectors become aware of the fact that they had missed this "secret" modular, too, as long as it had been available. Even in this forum no one really seems to be very aware of the fifth one, so I think there might be some truth to my theory. But it is of course just a theory. -> 10228

  22. Laser printers are great but the number of pages printed before you need to replace your toner cartridge is not guaranteed to be better then some of the more expensive inkjet printers. Some printers have high yield toner cartridges that make it worthwhile. Regular yield is typically 1500 pages. High yield is 4000+. Toner doesn't last forever either so if you print only 400 pages a year then high yield is not for you. Laser printers by even the cheap manufacturers have come a long way in the last ten years. But HP does make some great home ones and I've heard good things about Brother, Samsung and Xerox. I never even look at Lexmark because of their inkjet history. Dell also usually sources some nice stuff but often has crappy driver support down the road. Oh and I highly recommend a networked printer (wifi or wired) as they are usually trivial to setup.

  23. This is true, There is one Walmart outside of Phila where the customers always argue amongst themselves. Teenage moms are there with grandmom who looks younger than the daughters. Everything is thrown around. It is awesome. The Lego section is also decent. I will never reveal the location of this palace.

  26. Yeah you don't buy for big time investment unless the price is great because you just don't know what you will get. But for building, its perfect. And they allow returns if it is missing stuff, or open, etc. I think about 1 out of 20 I have to return. Those HDs were just stupid. I bought like 10 and they were all MINT.

  27. Absolutely. Selling through eBay or Amazon, it's a must to protect you against non-delivery claims. There is no reason not to use it, it's cheap or free with almost all forms of domestic shipping (and some international) these days.

  28. Start by contacting through the links they gave you, and do NOT relist any of the items they removed, in any format, no matter what, until you have this resolved. The company "Daypitney.com" appears to be a law office/website. You won't know what they're accusing you of until you contact them, if you don't get a response via email, call them. Because they're the ones who issued the VERO, they're the ones who have to rescind it after you find out what they think you've done wrong. For more information on VERO claims and remedies, visit tabberone.com. Was it one listing containing all three items, or three different listings?

  30. Whoa, maybe I stepped onto the wrong forum site. lol. Should I slowly back out now... No I'm walking the fine line trying to find my place between buying/hold sets for investment, vs. opening and enjoying for personal use. Or some mix of both. I bought my UCS MF during the clearance so even if I opened mine and sold it used I'd still come out well ahead. I don't believe mine is a 1st edition.

  31. It depends where they are too. My more ghetto walmarts are still huge but they only carry the smaller sets. At the same time the candy, alcohol, and "family planning" sections are massive.

  33. I am a long term kind of guy, but if the price is right next Christmas I won't mind letting them go at that time. I love the city sets that are "uncommon" and don't get remade every other year. My all time favorite that I had great success with was 3222, helicopter and limousine. Walmart exclusive for $30 retail. Smallish size box for easy shipping. I haven't checked it lately but when I sold the last of mine last year I got between $80-$90/each for them. the city theme is "boring" to a lot of investors, but if you can pick out a few diamonds in the rough there is some good money to be made.

  34. You can't buy everything. Winners will often be missed, but so will losers. Plus, who's got time for Technic when we're all hoarding Funhouses, Orc Forges, and Wolverine Choppers?

  36. My god man!!!! what is wrong with you? That talk is blasphemy. We never use the "O" word here, and I mean never. I don't think most people on this set know what an actual LEGO piece looks like. Just by question is that a 1st edition? and let me add my two cents. How about you sell that one for a lot of $$$ and buy a used one for a lot cheaper.

  39. Not a big deal? 10 minutes x 5 days = 50 minutes. 50 minutes x 4 weeks = 200 minutes. 200 minutes x 12 months = 2400 minutes. 2400 minutes / 60 minutes = 40 hours. 40 hours x 40-year working career = 1600 hours. But, yeah, all of you are correct. I should spend 1600 hours of my life doing something unnecessary and monotonous.

  41. If you ever want a custom minifigure made, go to BrickBeards Cove. The owner, Haunted Pirate, has made dozens of custom figures for me in the past, from the Clown in the movie IT, to the Jeepers Creepers monster. He is fantastic. Check him out.

  42. In 2007, LEGO randomly put approximately 10,000 Gold(chrome) C-3POs in various LEGO sets in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of STAR WARS. They now sell for $300+ on EBAY and other sites. Maybe it's time to crack open that $30 set you've been saving to resell to see if you have one.
