for my son. PotC Queen Anne's Revenge Ship (set 4195) for $165 shipped. only missing 2 stickers that i can get through one of my friends. i could have cracked opened one of my sealed QARs but I just couldn't. "the brickpicker force" in me wouldn't allow it. so i'll sell this used (no box) set down the road for hopefully a 25% profit.2 points

I would love stuff like this - and I think Lego probably realizes a lot of the secondary market is being bought by AFOLs reliving their childhood. So they can step into that same market even more.2 points

While I can sort of see where you are coming from in regards to the design, I don`t agree with the latter portion of your statement. BTTF is one of the Sci-Fi movies that has defined science fiction as we know it today. Many, many films stream from if and other movies of the time period, SW, Aliens, Blade Runner, etc. I only mention this because it puts into perspective the scale of the fan base that has been created over the last 30+ years. It wouldn`t be much a stretch to say that you`ve (generally) been living under a rock if you haven`t at least heard of BTTF in some context. Combine this with the numerous Lego fans out there and you have an item with significant demand. Obviously, I don`t work for Lego and have not seen the official sales numbers, but even though 21103 doesn`t appear to be on the scale of Minecraft, it looks to be selling quite well (I base this on the availability of the set online, as well as it constantly being in the "Top 25 Best sellers" list on Lego.com/ca, until recently). That alone gives the set an appeal, if not for build purposes, for nostalgic, fanboy reasons. So yes, I get that some may not feel that it is a set with much "flare" or "appeal" as you put it in terms of design, but it does the job, and it excels IMHO. Granted it isn`t perfect, there are still some changes/alterations that may have looked/functioned better, but the 3 in 1 options for the set were done quite well overall.2 points

I think this just about sums up this thread:2 points

I would just like to know how old everyone here on Brickpicker is plus what gender. Just wondering if there are a bunch of youngish men/women or oldish men/women. Thanks. PS: If you aren't comfortable giving your age, I am not pressuring you.1 point

Haha, I love these kind of posts. "I just found a tons of money... is that good?" Seems like this forum needs a straight-up bragging thread. -PB1 point

That's pretty interesting. I wish my WalMart would get off their butts and order more LEGO, right after they clearance the few they have. Did you introduce yourself as Reese Cellar?1 point

For a set with $80 MSRP, the true popularity test will be if it DOES NOT hit $100 a couple of months after retirement. Also, since we are making predictions, I do not see this set ever reach $200 within 4 years after retirement.1 point

Fulfillment By Amazon is a cost and time effective way to sell and ship small sets.1 point

I'm pretty sure you're right. I was lucky I noticed they were going to different addresses because I packaged them all together before noticing he was sending them to different places, though they all appeared to be going to the same apt. complex or something. As long as he doesn't try to pull any crap with me, I don't care if he sends them to the North Pole.1 point

You can't buy everything. Winners will often be missed, but so will losers. Plus, who's got time for Technic when we're all hoarding Funhouses, Orc Forges, and Wolverine Choppers?1 point

thanks all hcxkid88 I don't think my wife would be happy, it took me a while to convince her to call the twins Playstation and Xbox! ;)1 point

Didn't really buy anything, but I went to Lego store to fill up 2 free holiday PAB boxes. The nicest cashier gave me a Lego Movie poster that I missed last week, plus a Lego Movie sticker for Cinema Palace, for free.1 point

Even at double MSRP, it's a long road to hoe for not a tremendous amount of money...assuming you bought it at 18, 40-18-5(fees) = $17 And an average of one sold per day over the last 2 months, so $17 a day... I guess it's ok, not for everybody (I think shipping a bunch of these small sets is for the birds personally Rather do a few larger sets with less % return).1 point

Well, 315$ is not the ideal entry price you'd like to pay, but like you said, holding them for a year is surely going to give you back a lot more money. I'm guessing it'll sell for 450-500$ (USD) in a year. My arguments : - LEGO Technic are targeted for AFOLs. They're the ones with money. - It's exclusive and only 20 000 were made. Everyday, more and more of those are getting assembled by AFOLs, meaning there are less and less of those 41999 in MISB condition. So rarity is increasing daily. - They were sold out only a couple of weeks after release. Resellers/investors took all of them, meaning that a lot of people who wanted it couldn't get their hands on it. - It's not the flagship of the LEGO Technic branch, but it's a large set. Adult builders like a challenge and I'm sure this one is a worthy challenge. In conclusion, it's certainly a much better investment than a safe placement at your bank!1 point

Winter Village Cottage - return item - at local Lego Store. $79.99 and used $30 in VIP rewards.1 point

I'm in if that's the route they wanna go. I was in on the big playmates Simpsons world of springfield figures a few years back and i think that is when simpsons-theme collecting peaked. I was at Universal Orlando this past fall and seeing the Simpsons themed area definitely brought back some awesome simpsons memories.1 point

I absolutely love my modular buildings for their micro builds and great use of colors/creative building techniques BUT what really makes them awesome is that they're part of a large set-only collection that continues to expand every year (Plus, they're Minifig Scale). They're not diluted by smaller $20-40-60 sets that appeal to more budget conscious people. When I first saw the Modular Western Town on Cuusoo I almost lost it...it made complete sense to me. Make another series of Adult oriented "Gotta collect them all" sets that work together to create a large whole and you could very easily replicate the success of the Modular Buildings line. I was as disappointed as everyone else on here when it got canned, but I've been waiting to see what Lego might do to hit our wallets where it hurts. Of course, I'm only speculating, but it is possible that the Simpsons house is the beginning of a whole new series of AFOL targeted sub-$200 sets. Springfield Elementary, Moe's Tavern, and the Power Plant could very well be $100-300 sets that we could see coming out the next few years. I'm already confident that this set will be an investment slam-dunk, but we very well could be looking at the next Cafe Corner if a new series is being created... I know that licenses expire, but it's certainly possible that TLG has planned accordingly and might release other large Simpsons sets in 2015 and beyond. Again, this is more a wish than anything. But that house, with how detailed and well designed it appears to be (including the fact that it's all micro builds and the floor is fully tiled) certainly feels like a new type of Modular Building. If Lego goes down this route I think that they might have another extremely popular AFOL oriented series on their shelves, and I will certainly be purchasing them all!1 point

I tried to price adjust but they wouldn't allow me. I told them I could just return it and re buy it. They told me, if I return it, I would have to wait for the product to be put on the shelves before I can re buy it. Extremely good Customer Service I have at my local Target Stores1 point

Walking in yesterday to local toy store and saw a working pushing a cart with some lego signage on it as if it was garbage. I assume workers get most displays , signage, etc. when we left I drove around the store and they had on the side a long dumpster with some shells next to it. Parked and jumped out and looked and saw the Star Wars jabbas palace set. I knew these are glued but grabbed it. I then looked and saw the lego city mine set as well. Grabbed some angry bird knex, mario knex displays as well1 point

Yeah I'm in fairly large at about $22 a set because of that nice tru deal last week...I'm hoping for a solid $50+ at Christmas..heck even now you can part them and get close to $40.1 point

I went back and got my 19 price matched to the new price. Everything said 90% off, but they rang up at $1.49. The manager said they do not price adjust clearance. I said I would just return/rebuy them and waste all of our time. He did the adjustment saying "that's true"1 point

I caught Smaug over the break with my son, and the barrel escape had ZERO context before the movie came out. AFTER the movie, my son was gung-ho over it and it was a very fun scene in the movie. They rolled out Mirkwood and Barrel way too far in advance of the movie. He was excited for both after watching the film.1 point

The barge will also do well despite being a red headed stepchild to the older 6210 one that is larger and doesn't need a nose job :)1 point
