  1. If your only enjoyment out of this forum is to get off on others comments that you like to troll, then what is the point of being here?

  2. In the not so distant future, TLG will only produce white bricks to avoid alienating color blind consumers (Architecture Studio was a trial run). Also, they will stop producing "male" and "female" connectors, as they are clearly sexist pieces.

  3. Hi fellow Canucks, As of this morning and for the rest of the week sears.ca has some pretty sweet deals on some sets that are listed as 'sold out' on the S&**** website and are likely retired. Several of these sets are selling for more (in some cases quite a bit more) on ebay and amazon.com, which makes them about as low risk as can be for an investor. Add up your sets to $100 and apply the coupon code 941612305 to get another $10 off, which brings some of these sale prices to around 40% off. Use your sears store card to pick up extra sears points, or another reward card in your wallet. Make sure to use ****** or another promotional offer to get another 1-2% back. For any serious investor, the extra few percents here and there add up! Here is what I am targeting - no suprise I'm big on the old 4 number sets as they are/should be retired shortly. Samurai Mech 9448 - 30% off plus coupon on 3. Sold out at S&****. Ninjago is being rebooted for another season, old sets rejoice! Lasha's Bite Cycle 9447 - 25% off plus coupon on 5. Sold out at S&****, amazon.com has these at $35 Olivia's Tree House 3065 - 25% off plus coupon on 6. Amazon & Chowren toys have this at $45! Best buy of the lot, to me. Plenty more - two SW battle packs that are selling for around $20 on other places for $10-12, Rancor Pit at a solid Canadian price, three other Friends sets that should make some money long term...I really don't see how a Canadian investor can't find something that tickles their fancy, and if you are also a collector/builder, you probably won't get much better than some of these discounts north of the border. Remember when you get your sets that the huge sticker they sometimes put on the front easily comes off. Don't panic like I did the first time I ordered from Sears and had it shipped to store (to save on shipping costs, especially if you are going to place multiple $100 orders like I am). Also, by shipping to store, if the sets are in really bad shape, you are already there to return it! Enjoy!

  4. Congrats. And yes. You should be worried about a set in that kind of heat. I have had a few sets seals break because of the heat and humidity.

  5. Heh yeah because going completely against your PR department is worth a couple of pennies in the bucket and religous groups, etc. coming out of the woodworks calling you hypocrites. Pretty sure this is the reboxes, etc. they list a date as that is when they will have them all. Last batch and they are gone. TRU just restocked the whole section of star wars (3 TRUs) and no jabba. Lego just isn't going to keep carrying it after not sending it to all the retailers.

  6. I purchased some ninjago Light Temple from Kmart the other day that had security tags on them. I went through self serve so they weren't removed. I went to a couple of other stores afterwards and set off the security alarms several times both when I entered and exited. surprisingly no one cared at all! A couple days afterwards I went to David Jones and purchased a set, after the sale assistant denied me the Lego discount, which I had to argue to get. She ripped the security label off taking a decent amount of box printing off. What I learnt from that was to go through self serve if possible. Then later you can remove any labels safely hopefully not taking part of the box with it. I don't recommend leaving the price tag visible and the security tag shouldn't really matter. If your worried just peal them off yourself but don't rush also a hair dryer helps.

  7. I wouldn't leave price tags on, people get shirty when they see a cheaper price on it and can affect how they leave feedback (regardless of them agreeing to the price or not). I remove all security tags, you can use a hair dryer to help remove it but I generally dont have a problem with it at all.

  8. LEGO, those racists. Actually, they are resellerists. Always mocking the resellers by teasing us into thinking something is going EOL. I bet the same guy that changes the prices all the time on Amazon is the one pressing the "make more" button at LEGO.

  9. From what I understand they had production rights into 2013. So being that it is only the 3rd of January, it is entirely possible they ran off there last batch before the year was over, and will sell until they run out. Unless they worked up another deal with LucasArts (Disney?), or whoever they deal with now, this might just be a last hurrah.

  10. From a visual standpoint, my "focus group" (girlfriend) proclaimed that it is an excellent looking set. I also think that it looks great and as I have played with a set with my cousins, can affirm that it is a fun one to have. Should be good after a discount

  11. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm 99% sure that the value is in the minifigs. Whenever I see a row of books like these there are inevitably a few with the minifig ripped out (although I'd like to think for personal collections rather than for investing . I'm not sure how long you'd have to wait for that minifig to appreciate in any, uh, appreciable way, but I'd think a long time.

  14. Built the Silver Mine Shootout today. After I was done, my first thought was that if this set didn't have "Disney's The Lone Ranger" on it, investors would be hoarding it. It is a sweet western themed set that has so many cool play features. Great minifigures (Chief Big Bear is incredible) too - the set has everything. I did wind up doing my own modifications to allow the train to pass through. It's not as easy as I thought it would be, but I thought it came out decently. Here are a couple pics to show how it came out (yes, that's my son's "Bertie" minifigure that my wife requested at our local Legoland DC - we're supposed to bring Bertie on adventures and take his picture while on them).

  17. Quick update - my first with the banner ad showed an increase in eBay Store visits of over 1,000%! To be clear, my store visits were low before, but they really spiked yesterday. Today, it appears my site traffic will decrease slightly from yesterday, but it's still way up over my last month's equivalent dates. And for those who say the holiday season is likely part of the bump, my store visits prior to the ad were about the same as they were a month prior, if not a little lower. I expect to see a steady stream of clicks from the BP ad in the near future, but they will probably tail off from the insane spike I saw yesterday. It's the Brickpicker Effect in a different form... EDIT - I also sold a good chunck of merch yesterday too!
