Whoo! Ebay score everyone!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1910051521272 points

I love it when people compare sets now with sets that appreciated 300% before Lego Investing was really popular. Same thing with FB. Anyone that thinks it will come close to even the Green Grocer is smoking something.2 points
-
These two situations aren't even close to the same. The fact that you're now realizing that there are way more HDs put away should tell you everything you need to know about how these are different.2 points

Just get a job with the federal government and you will no longer have to worry about moral dilemmas.2 points

Sorry, I didn't feel like quoting you and Stephen. This seems like a very simple situation. It's a little sad, in my opinion, that this question even needs to be asked.2 points

I disagree. 30% of is 30% off no matter what you look at. Everyone here is not a flipper, so if you are the type of investor that does not need to unload right away, there is nothing wrong with this deal. Before you give advice, you need to consider everyone, not just your style.2 points

Yes. I actually bought, posted it, then canceled it. Was hoping to give BP members a chance. Couldn't have went to a better person ( no offense to anyone )1 point

For 4184 Black Pearl, I would definitely sell complete if you want to turn it around fast. If you want to maximize your profit but wait awhile for the minfigures to sell, part it out. You'll probably get $100-110 for the ship and $70-75 for the minfigs. If you sell it together, you'll likely gross $140-160.1 point

Shouldn't have any problem getting $150-200 for complete used black Pearl on eBay. Seems like the BIN listings are getting higher sales than auctions...1 point

I'm sure it does bug some, but again, provided everything's in great condition (and he doesn't hesitate to send me scurrying off to Bricklink if he gets a part that's not ) my crazy building husband doesn't mind used sets - especially when the price point difference on some of the retired stuff can be hundreds (I'm looking at you, retired modulars) between new and used. The thing that bugs him most regularly is that most people aren't as careful as he is in applying stickers (dual-wielded exacto knives, a metal straight edge, a jewelers magnifying light, and the hands of a surgeon are how HE does it, or, as he calls it, "right"), so I'm forever buying new sticker sets for his used purchases.1 point

Keep the box. You will be kicking yourself in 1-2 years when it will not matter if you take a 5-10% haircut on a set that has doubled it's retail price. As long as you're confident all the contents are still in the box, you should be fine. You can also open it and confirm all the bags and instructions are present and sell it as a "verified contents" set for the same 5-10% discount.1 point

It went up 12% in this most recent update, so to me, that is pretty good performance in a short time.1 point

Check this interesting article I found on forbes.com http://www.forbes.com/sites/micahsolomon/2013/12/14/legos-expert-path-to-customer-loyalty-consulting-their-brick-by-brick-approach/ Talks about the CSR response, someone gets when missing brick pieces in their sets, and I could truly relate to that. Amazing read,1 point

Semantics......fact remains it JUST retired and is selling for well above retail.1 point

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has noticed this... I was starting to go crazy over the fact that I always "missed" the sale prices. I have always had fairly bad luck, but even mine isn't that bad. For as often as I check the LEGO Shop at Home site, I would have thought I'd catch an in-stock sale by now, but nope.1 point

Lady yesterday thanked me for "saving Christmas."... One guy who bought a DC off Craigslist from me today for $100 congratulated me on my "use of capitalism and the free market." Lol1 point

Even though I Can't buy wholsale anymore I still have a few friends in Lego that I talk to now and then. and try and get whatever info I can. Take the new line Cinderella well it takes about a year to Show Disney what they want to do, does Disney like the Designs and sets, so after everybody is happy with the sets, well then they start the business side of the deal, how long of a License will both sides agree on. And the the main thing the Price, as I stated before it runs in the millions. So Thats what happened with the Lone ranger, it took about 8 months to get everything ready, nobody knew if the Lone ranger would be a hit or flop, but Lgeo and Disney came up with a end of the year deal for sets retiring.1 point

I never said i doubled my money.. I probably made around 20$ per set I was the first to post the kmart deal @ 46$ (people chose to go for the unexpected gethering @ 42$ back then); i got lucky with that one Got few at 52$, and like I have been posting since last week , costco @ 64.99 (make it 68$ after tax and 2% cash back from costco) I rolled the dice that this week they will sell like crazy and I was right (based on everything I read and factored) I'm averaging around 12$ in shipping.. So these are your number... This is the selling thread, one would figure people already know how it is done, I am not the type of person to mislead anyone , and ive never posted anything to that effect1 point

No wonder I sold 10 for $99 each in less than 2 hours on Saturday. The beauty of living in the middle of the country is shipping does not vary too much from zone to zone.1 point

ps. Great time to flip this set. I first started finding them at Walmarts about a week ago. I have sold 11 of them for between $35 and $38 each.1 point

supraboy888 : Thank you for the code on TRU! I've been searching on google to find it, but in vain. I just bought 4 x 6866 (Wolverine's chopper) and 1 x 10197 (Fire Brigade) using this little 10% rebate. Nothing else other than those 2 were of any particular interest...1 point
-
SHOPNOW10 Hurry up because it'll get cut off in about 4-5 hours. FB and Wolverine Chopper are both worth it. The barrel escape is all but wiped out. $39.99 with 10% off. What a nice deal. I got 5 myself. Only grabbed a few wolverines. The City Space Center is also worth a look. Enjoy!1 point

My initial reaction to reading this: There is only one thing to do, and it is exactly what several members have already said: ensure that Fedex takes the box. Call them. Drive it to the nearest pick-up facility if your driver is a tool. As far as morals go, you no longer own that 2nd set. Lego gave you what you wanted, a brand new box, you`ve paid for only 1, that second box belongs to them only. Sorry to hear that the second one is wrinkled as you said, but that isn`t Lego`s fault.1 point

It sounds to me like you are seeking justification to keep the extra set, when all you need to do is make a phone call or send an email to have it picked up. Do the right thing.1 point

Sold 3 more today. Went to tru....they restocked hard style....but sale is over. Another coincidence. Speaking of cranes and other old birds....gonna leave this here. She even looks like a lego grinch. Dark green and black. Shirt said lego elf tru helper or something and she had a lego vendor badge on her chest. Snapping at people who asked her questions, thought a $44 set was too expensive for me.....what a jerk.1 point

The solution to bid retractions is not to run auctions. one of the many good reasons. All sellers in any setting have to cope with buyer issues. If we were operating brick and mortars, we'd have to worry about shoplifters and parking problems instead.1 point
-
Your advice is rubbish. Totally disagree with you. I'll take 30% off any set, any day. I don't need to sell it tomorrow, I can hold it for a while.1 point

Hi Kitt, I'm Malaysian as well, but living in US. I'm interested in looking at opportunities to bring Lego to more Malaysian. Send me a private message if you want to discuss further. Fred1 point

Welcome to BrickPicker! Very cool to have so many new Malaysian members introducing themselves. Clear signs of the LEGO fad expanding to South East Asia.1 point
