I disagree. 30% of is 30% off no matter what you look at. Everyone here is not a flipper, so if you are the type of investor that does not need to unload right away, there is nothing wrong with this deal. Before you give advice, you need to consider everyone, not just your style.4 points

Could you imagine if the "boy" Lego world only consisted of the City theme?3 points

HELL YEAH. I've been singing the praises of Lego Friends since the first day I started posting on this site! Edited to add: And thank you to whomever added more awards to my profile! That Brick Chick was getting lonely over there in the left hand column.2 points

Flippers are small, but vocal, part of our membership, so please don't think for one second that every LEGO set sold must be "flipped" immediately after purchase. If Jeff and I thought "flipping" was the most important part of our site, we would have called it BrickFlipper. That being said, I think many people enjoy the Lone Ranger sets and they could appreciate nicely in the future. Also, 30% off is a solid discount on most sets. Don't let the recent sales on Cyber Monday spoil you. 30% discounts are an excellent starting point for long term investing.2 points
-
Sure agree with Jeff because he is an owner of the site, but to me, who basically said the same thing, I am an idiot that is going to have rat poop all over my sets. You have no clue, sorry.2 points
-
Your advice is rubbish. Totally disagree with you. I'll take 30% off any set, any day. I don't need to sell it tomorrow, I can hold it for a while.2 points

Bummer, I still have to see his drivel when someone else quotes him. He apparently thinks people are upset about his bone-headed opinions. No, people are upset because it is incredibly annoying to read the same over the top, hyperbolic ridiculousness over, and over, and over, and over, and over.2 points

Good point. Seems to me like a Disney line could co-exist with Friends just fine, especially considering they can hardly make enough Friends sets to keep up with demand. When one female theme is selling that well, it's like throwing away money not making more.2 points
-
Laughed hard at the Aquaman comment. If anything, you have to consider the opposite, which is that the Disney princess sets could pull even more girl builders into the Friends theme. I think it's just upside all the way around. That Cinderella Castle set is pure gold down the road, and I predict it will be one of the most hoarded sets on this site.2 points

I'm not your buddy and everyone is tired of your rants. No need to keep arguing with everyone about the FB and bashing every set that isn't FB That's all you've been doing for the past week and myself and others are tired of it. p.s. I sell everything globally and wide scale just fine.2 points

I dont know either, but it seems more plausible than this being another wave. It was just insane how it went from 999 to sold out so quickly, especially with purchasing limits. I know you can go around these limits with multiple accounts, but still it was very fast. I remember thinking that either their system incorrectly had a stock of 999 or they pulled back stock. It was just too fast.1 point

OK. Helms Deep is doing her final dance on Amazon. It is sold out on BN.com and at TRU. I think as the Hobbit movie released they did a final wave to tap into the demand. This in my opinion.1 point

Gotcha. For feedback, try finding everything you need to buy on eBay first, it can build it up fast and not cost you any more than buying stuff local in many cases.1 point

The solution to bid retractions is not to run auctions. one of the many good reasons. All sellers in any setting have to cope with buyer issues. If we were operating brick and mortars, we'd have to worry about shoplifters and parking problems instead.1 point

Same here Martin - I hope these are 50% clearance around me. It's a shame really the movie flopped - these are nicely done sets...very well designed and high playability. My son loves the LR sets!1 point

If you waited to invest until you noticed empty shelves, I have a hard time believing you found 50-75 sets including the Vet, Stables, Beauty shop, etc....lol1 point

I sell Wolverine for $12 right now (I ran out). Deadpool I sell for $12 as well.1 point

Alcarin, we all know your country is basically worthless for buying lego sets. You don't get any deals at all and that is tough, but now again, I was not talking about 30% off deals in Slovenia. I am talking about my business here in the USA which is much different than what you deal with. Sadly most of the stuff we talk about here doesn't really apply to you because you can't get the same deals. There are plenty of good deals to be had though on Amazon for the different European sites. All is not lost all the time.1 point
-
I forgot about that part of investing too. The minifigures are also worth something. After you add it all up 30% off does not sound bad at all. From another point, 30% off a set is good if you want to build the set for yourself.1 point
-
Not a problem. I will take the chance. Good luck with your 10% gains.1 point
-
I agree. 50% off LR sets is the best way to make money IF you want to flip them. 30% off is not enough to make a profit when you are flipping them. Unfortunately, I cannot find any LR sets at any significant discount near me. I will have to look after Christmas to see if there are any sets on clearance.1 point
-
Lone Ranger products are generally rubbish. You gotta get them at 50% off in order to flip them for profits. 30% off is nothing to write home about. Stay away from them if you don't have any buyers lined up.1 point

Ditto for me, all five showing shipped - thanks for posting this. I don't know why I hadn't signed up for Slick Deals before, but I have now.1 point

Can we restrict thread titles to only letters and numbers? It is brutal getting the redirect error page because someone posts a trademark or dollar sign or whatever symbol.1 point

I just received a message that mine has shipped. Check your email! w00t!1 point

HD will do better % wise than the FB IMO. Most likely investers hoarded FB more than the HD's. HD has been out at least half the life span of the FB as well. Yes, HD has been on a blowout sale lately, but look at The Harry Potter Hogwarts castle #4842 for example. HD will have similar gains. The market will be way too flooded with FB's to see any real gains for a long time to come. Only time will tell.1 point

I'm in the *exact* same situation with both series 11 and 10... ...and this is EXACTLY what I'm waiting for as well!1 point

Do you aspire to be the "I-know-more-than-anyone-else-d0uche" in every thread? If so, congrats.1 point

Ok, it's more than just Cinderella, decided to check them out on eBay and google, Ariel's amazing treasures sets has Aquaman's trident, things just really don't get any better for that guy.1 point

Is there anything that can be done for flipped pics? I feel like I am going to lose my camera badge! I can't figure it out---sometimes when I upload, pics show as flipped. I delete it here, go to my iphone, and flip it, then re upload...and it's still flipped. Or can someone smart right a quick note on how to take a photo with iphone properly donit won't flip? Do you hold it vertical/horizontal? Home button to left or right? At least I am not a total fool, I see others posting flipped images too. I know on ebay, as soon as you post pics, you can flip them if they are wrong. I know this is not ebay, just wondering of the forum software might have something similar built in?1 point

If you believe you can catch this very brief window of opportunity then give it a shot. A lot of daddy's little girls out there to make happy this holiday season. Be advised it won't take long before regular Joe realizes he can find these in store but that will probably be at the start of January.1 point

Despite having ZERO space, I picked up 3 more 79111 Lone Ranger trains. Brings me to 10 total. I really think this set could perform at least 50% of what the Black Pearl has done (doubled MSRP) in 1 year. With 79111 only having 7-12 months of retail life, I feel supply will be short of demand despite the movie. Additionally, Not many trains come with track (especially straight) . I just wish the instructions mentioned something about power functions :(1 point

I am plenty comfortable with my man hood, and have no problems buying these sets in public and in large quantities. there is no shame in my game!1 point

Does anyone want to trade a Fire Brigade for a Black Pearl? Would love a Fire Brigade.1 point

It's a hot price item all the time, even when it's not on sale. Look at the shelf tag and if it says "HP" on it, Wendy's coupons or anything else that excludes hot price won't work. I think the mine does work, but the showdown is hot price and won't. It's all kind of random...1 point

Eight more haunted houses from the target $30 gift card deal. After tax, red card, and $30 gift card they come out to $148.75/each, or 22% off. Great deal for one of the most popular exclusives that rarely gets discounted. Brings me up to 13. My goal is at least 20 before it's all said and done. Tempted to double dip before the deal ends today but the wife can only take so much...lol. Think I'll give her a break and wait to get a few more. We should see another discount at some point in time before this one goes eol.1 point

This is GREAT news!!! I just got back from picking up 7 Constitution trains for 64.99 a piece. I love this set and already thought it would bring some good returns but with such a short lifespan I feel even better about it. Gonna pick up a few more after lunch1 point
-
enough with the FB already! We all know how bullish you are on that. According to you no other set compares to it. lol FB is heavily stocked by investors as well and it was discounted on amazon at $119 forever. All 3 sets will do well and make money and that's what matters.1 point

I find this comment to be sanctimonious to "tell" someone to make their own decision. The market is a voting machine and the forum is a microcosm of the market. It is more resourceful to mention what you think of the set than telling somebody else you are better. You might learn something and come up witb some new ideas in the process. People can come on here and BS but that's up for your own interpretation.1 point

I have to respectfully disagree with this. I built this set, and it's one of the best Technic sets I've assembled. If this set was undesirable, it wouldn't be selling for nearly 100% over retail less than one month after retirement. Resellers are betting on this one because it's a great set, not in spite of it.1 point
