  1. Welcome to the site. All the suggestions they have made are good ones. Our Brick Classifieds will be launched VERY soon. As far as costs, etc, no one will be able to match our project. Just be patient for a little bit more, and you will have something to use here.

  2. If there is something of interest from reputable members, we are pretty lenient with posts.. I just don't want to hear complaints from members about bad deals or bad trades. I'll talk to Jeff about starting a thread about trades until the Classifieds are done.

  5. I read it as your getting a refund for the 2 sets once you send them back and then 20% off your next order

  6. Let's put things in perspective for a second. The 41999 has been retired, what...a month? People are griping that they are only worth $350 -$375 from a MSRP of $200. LOL. That's a damn impressive return. I think many of you flippers have flipped your lids...

  7. Looks like you're also contributing to the demise of the set now. Welcome aboard. No harm, no foul, if the boxes come damaged, just take it to your local TRU and refund. This set is already guaranteeing $199USD return on the open market on ebay + shipping. If it is really discontinued and replaced by the Parisian Restaurant, there's no telling what the FB is worth. Another thing is I don't believe the GE or Pet Shop are going to get discontinued anytime soon. Don't get suckered into the rumors. If anything, look for Town Hall to disappear first. Pet Shop and GE are still on the shelves of Lego store. Those spreading the rumors just want to jack up the prices on ebay which won't work. To be discontinued, an item has to first hit the "hard to find" listing in the lego website. It can't go from being listed to being discontinued. The Town Hall is on the hard to find list and I talked to the lego rep, he said if anything, the Town Hall goes first before GE or Pet Shop.

  11. Contributing Blog Articles, Reviews, and making forum posts. If you become a Deal Hunter, I believe there are some BP rewards for them too. EDIT - you can also get BPs by updating information in the Lego Price Guide.

  13. Just asking...do u have a "true value" of each set in mind as you're getting ready to sell? On ebay you have all the power as a seller to control how low you want to price your set. Whether you do a fixed price or even when setting the initial bid amount for an auction. You could even post on the high end and accept Best Offers, knowing what the lowest acceptable price is for you. Depending on ebay buyers to set the "true value" for you is rather risky. If you're not in a hurry to sell everything you don't necessarily have to compromise on price. IMO selling on BL is hard unless you have a rare set. If its rather common, it's too easy to get buried among the hundreds or thousands of other listings out there...

  16. No, he's looking to trade his 41999 for someone else's Sandcrawler. Or his new offer sounds like his 41999 for two of someone's Fire Brigades.

  18. As an AFOL I wanted the train and stagecoach as soon as I saw them. They are just really great sets! Lots of minifigues and playability. I have built one of each set for myself. Will get more to invest when discount/promo are available.

  20. I don't really care how many he specifically has, but just like the thread of collection/stock room pics, it would be neat to see them all stacked and organized! I enjoy seeing Lego in large quantities no matter where it is!

  22. DEAL! I'll PM you my address so you can send over those sets and I'll have my wife convince yours that Lego is awesome! haha I have both Tower Bridge and R2D2, and even she thinks they are awesome sauce. I've also got her into modulars as well. We have Palace Cinema, Pet Shop, Grand Emporium, and Fire Brigade. I was honestly somewhat surprised to see her get into it like me. Best of wishes. Hopefully your wife will come around.

  23. Myer have just added an additional 10% off with coupon code "toys10" Doesn't look like all sets have 20% off but it should be a good time to pick up the Sopwith, with all discounts it comes to $89.10 each compared with $129.99 rrp

  27. You're not reading what I wrote - maybe this is clearer: It glosses over the fact that for a set to appreciate from MSRP like 41999 has (regardless of what the sales chart shows), there must be demand for it. My point is valid whether we're talking about the value of this set three weeks ago or the sold prices you're seeing right now. This set would not sell for 50-100% over MSRP if people didn't think it was a great set or if there wasn't substantial demand for it. Why is that so controversial? As far as this comment goes: I take issue with the idea that this set has appreciated since its retirement, or even its release. Well, the price has appreciated since it's release. Anyone could purchase this set for MSRP at Lego S@H on September 1. Now, anyone can buy it for MSRP + a significant premium on secondary markets. In the US, these prices were $200 for MSRP and are $300-$400 for current secondary sales. That's a healthy premium. Again, there's no controversy or question here - the facts are clear. And what does "there's far more supply than demand" even mean? The supply isn't changing - if anything, it's shrinking and always will. Tell me how many listings or sales there were a month ago for this set compared to the number of listings or sales today. This may be a surprise, but there are fewer today. That doesn't point to any market flooding. And for every set that is sold (presumably since Mark bowed out, they are all to end users given the high price point), there is one less set that current and future listings have to contend with. While this may seem like it's in direct conflict from earlier posts, I would be willing to wager the set has decreased in demand since it's height 6-8 weeks ago. In fact, most Lego sets on the retail market go through this phenomenon after release. The difference here is that the demand is still strong enough to support a $350 purchase price (again, 50-100% over MSRP) in the US. That's what I meant when I say demand is high for this set. Again, what is so controversial about this? If you think the price will continue to decrease until it hits $300, ask yourself if you would be willing to sell one of these for $300 today. My guess is that you would hang on to it because you know the supply will continue to dwindle while the demand levels or potentially grows.

  29. Here's my question: how does 20,000 compare to any other set that has been produced? So we know there are "only" 20,000 of this set but what does that mean? How many Architecture Studios sets were made? How many Fire Brigades, Death Stars, The Zombies or anything else are there? None of us know, so as far we know 20,000 could be a pretty common production number for a set over $150. I'm sure it isn't the case, but just because there are "only" 20,000, doesn't really have that much meaning because we have no idea what we're comparing it to.

  32. Ditto at mine. Actually it has been all week - at least, all the DC/SRC/HH were cleared out when I first went in on Monday for the BOGO, and then today when I checked back in EVERYTHING was cleared out. All I know is, I look at my portfolio of Friends sets and I see: I have at least one of every regular set and all but the rarest poly bags. Although most of these sets are still widely available at retailers, the theme is already an investment winner. The two medium-sized sets that have retired (BBS and Dog Show) both have astronomical growth charts for the first 6ish months. There are some losers in this theme (as there are in all themes) but Lego has a real winner in this line which means if you're shorting it because pink's not your color, I'm cool with that - just means less competition for me! These sets are really well designed and have tons of cool pieces, too. My boys (other than the 12yo who is at the age where anything to do with girls is gross) love the theme as much or more than my daughter. I can't see this line being an investment loser especially after watching the craziness around DC this season.

  36. Very nice! My Lego vault looks fairly anemic because we only keep about 25% for long term investing. Now my Lego sort table looks like Dr. Frankenstein's chamber, with eviscerated bags and boxes, once proudly containing whole kits that I have mercilessly carved up for parts, awash in a sea of ziploc bags. It smells like plastic and despair.

  37. I'd be happy with a TIE Interceptor that wasn't covered in blue highlights. Yuck. A UCS of Sebulba's Podracer would be cool. There's a video on youtube, this guy owns every UCS and he designed his own versions of a few ships. He did a podracer that is fantastic. I'll see if I can find the link.
