  1. This thanksgiving, I am thankful for my family, my health, my friends, and all of the recently retired lego sets! Happy early turkey day, fellow brickpickers!

  2. I am the dream of every Director/Studio, etc. I have a really hard time finding a movie I don't really enjoy for what it is. I actually really like the SW prequels, even if the OT is way better.

  3. I will completely disagree with everyone else haha. Here's why. I've bought tons and tons of VC's and have already sold quite a few for 120 each. The average price I paid for the VC's was 63 I think. Even after fees I'm making around 40% right now. The HH is a great set, but we don't know when it's going to retire.. It also will take years to get to the percentage return that we will see with the VC shortly after EOL. I think the VC will easily hit 180-220 sealed sometime in the next two years. I don't see the HH getting that high percentage of returns anytime soon (I don't think it will be retired anytime soon) So when you break the math down (at least in my head) I'd rather be sitting on more than 50 VC's and seeing them have larger short term returns and reinvesting that money than 50 HH. You can by three VC's to one HH at this time. That's a no brainer in my opinion to take that money now and run with it and sell for a quick flip or after a year or two instead of waiting for three to four with the HH. (don't worry I have quite a few HH's too)

  5. Guys, I did a little comparison to determine what may be good sets to pick up at Toys XL. These are only the sets they price at 89,99 or more. May continue further down if I feel like it. Of course you would have to be fortunate enough to see the item in store. Now the 3 for 2 deal comes down to potentially a 33% discount (assuming all three are the same price). I think you'll find it's probably pretty hard to find sets you'll all want in the same store but you never know. When Toys XL price is more than 150% the price of an alternative a 33% discount would still not be make them cheapest. Hope this is of use! Toys XL Black Friday.xlsx

  12. True, but I think JJ Abrams is going to blow people's minds with the new versions. I love his STAR TREK movies. He was true to the originals and gave the new versions a touch of class not found in earlier versions.

  13. I think $650 USD is a good and realistic long term target for this set. When TLG produces its next limited number set 41999 will quickly be put on the back burner.

  14. Get the parts. You will be way ahead in the end if you go that route. It's more fun that way anyway.

  15. I suppose I am a Puta Togethera rather than a parter outa. I look for cheap bulk listings that contain sets (hopefully near complete) put them together and sell on. All of what DNIIM applies though. This method is also very time consuming, I feel like I am working 2 jobs at the moment.

  17. Per past S@H sales, in-store price would match online, providing they have the sets in stock. However, if I read correctly, the $10 gift card is for online order only. Looks like I am going to blow all my VIP points in 1 single online order. In a way I am glad, I do not know if my wallet can withstand great BF deals after spending so much in the past 10 days.

  19. Alrighty then. I will admit this is most certainly one of those items absolutely perfect for being preserved in its own unique time capsule of a case. Not my fault everyday seems to spawn yet another internet lingo term. For all I knew AFA meant Anal Farting Asstards.

  25. Though it wasn't the rebound I was looking for in the B-Wing, I'm surprised it's gotten up to $175+, since TRU had a bundle going on with Gold Leader's Y-Wing a little while ago. Feeling pretty optimistic about the set! A little, but if LEGO put the retiring soon tag on every set, we wouldn't have anything to talk about!

  26. I think the lack of minifigures and the short lifespan helped curb the purchasing of this unit from many buyers. I think it was mostly purchased by collectors and resellers. Now all we need is the demand of the new collectors to exceed the inventory of the resellers, and we'll have another huge uptick. I bet this is a 500.00 item next Christmas or the one after.

  27. I think it means getting the sets graded by the AFA, the Action Figure Authority.
