  1. All this shopping made us hungry, so we are at Wendy's now---having a snack (and 3 more coupons) then heading back! No...I am not kidding! Wendy's yesterday AND today dad!? Are you crazy!? Yes Will----dad is a bit nuts.

  2. General, I'm about to head over there. I will report back in about an hour. Over and out

  3. The chance is 100% that this is a dropscam. Nobody can sell this set at that price. I know people will jump in and say how it's just a guy who got three for his birthday or he found them on the side of the road and he's just looking to unload them but that is really going to be the very rare case. There's a reason when he shows you what you're going to get he provides a Walmart link.

  4. Found a couple decent used technic deals on Craig's recently...and decided to try building--instead of my usual standard inventory using bricklink. Well that...and I didn't want to count out a hundreds of tiny parts...many that needed to be measured! So....the biggest were the 2 super cars. The black and the red. The black wasn't too hard...but took about 6 hours. I loved it...and the family thought it was great...so we did the red one. My moly! This is the hardest and most rewarding build of any hobby type thing I have ever done. I am a 38 year old manufacturing engineer with 20 years of industrial automation and robot experience. This build took me a good 10 hours. I loved (nearly) every minute of it! It was genius the way they lay out the build sequence! Building a normal lego kit (especially large Star Wars) is tedious, predictable and boring. This was great! The way you go around the vehicle, instead of following the more symmetrical lego build logic was incredible. The integration of the power functions, levers, gears, working real differentials, and the use of all manner of joints--including spherical bearings, and working suspension! I can't say enough about this build. I was so nervous it wasn't going to work at the end--but every power function was flawless. The doors, hood, and trunk all opens and closed perfectly. The suspension and rack/pinion steering were fabulous! Paid about 75 for each....I don't think I can bare to sell them for 150--going rate on eBay--pocketing just 120 if lucky. After building these wonderful projects...I have most nearly decided to pop open one of my crawlers. Nearly. I love technic...and will be sinking more money into these sets in the future. I think the target market is what 14 for these sets? No way I could have done these when I was that age. At least not right the first time. The instructions leave a bit (too much) open to interpret.

  5. There is an article written about box damage. Here is a link. If you are going to get more of these in the future, then I would build this one because of the box condition. I always build the set in the worst condition because if I get more sets in the future, the boxes will probably be in better shape. Sometimes you can even pick out the best box if you are in TRU or at the Lego Store.

  6. Not everyone is aware there is a Lego store - eBay and Amazon enjoy the benefit of being popular "shopping mall" style sites where people will sometimes purchase without trying to find a better deal elsewhere first. I wouldn't personally adopt it as a selling style because the margins are too slim - I can make more parting it out if I need to make quick money on that particular set for some reason; and more still by buying/holding and/or putting most of the parts on Bricklink for slower but better money.

  8. So the Craigslist lady that started at 30, went to 200, is now running an auction. She supposedly has someone on the line for 130. She didn't know that was me with a different Craigslist anonymous email address. She emailed me at a different address and said she had a buyer at 130 asking if I would pay more. Told her to stuff them. She emailed my other address and we set a date. She is driving to meet me at ikea parking lot in stoughton tonight at 730. She is going to be waiting for a long time! Take it you greedy hag! First Robin Hood ruined my day....so I am going to ruin her night! Too bad I have a life (small one, but still). Would be awesome to figure out where the hell stoughton and ikea even are...and drive there just to throw a Wendy's waffle cone on her windshield. That would really tie this days stories together, would it not! And they peed on your rug?

  13. The only way I have found to deal with large bulk lots is to treat each one as a separate entity, recover what sets I can and that I think are worth it from a monetary and time standpoint then sell the remaining pounds on ebay. Then move on to the next giant pile of random LEGO. Any other way, for me anyway, turns into a huge mess.

  14. Some folks are under the impression that if they give other people information or opinions, those people will become significant competition. I know from many years of experience that you can tell people EXACTLY what to buy and how to make money and they still won't do it (whether lack of skill, lack of interest, the realization that it takes actual work, whatever.) However, there's no need to insist that menoknow share his "secret" set with any of us. It's not really a secret, Lego sells it, the same information he's using is out there. Check Amazon and eBay prices, figure out what sets could be flipped for 20% profit (too small a margin for me personally to take the risk on a large number of sets, but I'm lamentably cautious), and you, too, will know the "secret" (and can come back and taunt me if you like, I don't mind. ) Let him have his fun thinking he's holding the keys to the kingdom.

  16. A) I don't think any of the sets that you can buy that many of is a good investment. B)Highly doubt S@H will let an order that big go through even on sets without limits.

  17. Haha! I hear ya on the bankruptcy part. "Just when I thought I was out, they (Lego sets) pull me back in!"

  18. Thanks. Box is in excellent shape. Still sealed nicely. I just listed it in bricklink.

  19. Looks like a lot of Hero Factory sets: 7165 Link 7170 Link 7167 Link That is all I could find. Looks like there is a lot of random parts, and there could be some sets that you can make with those parts.

  21. The problem is all he'd get is an email telling him his Lego were worth more - this guy isn't looking to buy, just to spoil sport for others. I don't know what could be done to get Creepy McCreeperson to actually out himself - for all we know, he's one of the more self-righteous members of this site.

  22. Vampyre Castle x4 - 79.99 each Jedi Cruiser x2 - 75.00 each Fun House x2 - 44.00 each (20% off coupons) Bat Cave x2 - 69.99 (Had the TRU Store PM their own website) Unimog x1 - $151.99 (My TRU store had them for 209.99 instead of 229.99 like the website. Also used a 20% discount and got an additional 10% off because the boxes corners had some decent dents). Hulk Helicarrier x2 - Walmart retail price Urukai x2 - 29.59 each - (20% off coupons) Dino 5888 x2 - 31.99 (20% off coupons, retired on LEGO Shop at Home but found 2 in the store, go figure) Technic 42001 x11 - TRU for $10 each Technic Mini Tow Truck x2 - $10.39 each after 20% off coupons Technic Mini Containter Truck x1 - $9.59 after 20% off coupon - retired on LEGO Shop at Home Technic 9391 Crawler Crane x3 - $17.59 each after 20% off coupons Friends 3189 Stables - 34.99 Technic Logging Truck - 127.99 after 20% off coupon And I also picked up some of the Call of Duty Mega blocks that are out. Buy 1 get 1 40% off. It was too much profit to pass up at that price, and since they are relatively new I think there will be little competition and short supply for the holidays! I know it's Mega Bloks (blasphemy) but a true entrepreneur doesn't let emotion rule his profitability!

  23. The better polybags seem to be ones that are not common or hard to get in the first place and these don't stay on shelves for long at all. Then you also have ones people would like more than one of to build their army of whatever it may be (Uruk-hai polybag always springs to mind).
