and... ...my team of personal stylists who take my natural beauty and keep me looking so glamorous every day ...my family, who have refrained from selling my used laundry on eBay and my story to the tabloids ...my dogs, whose personal mission is keeping my face clean and my refrigerator leftover-free ...my agent, always ready with a bottle of whiskey and a stack of phone numbers for the nearest rehab centers ...my publicists, a 24 hour team that goes around deleting all the Twitter and Facebook and Instagram posts I really shouldn't make Yes, as some of you might have guessed by now, this is my 1000th post and I hear I'm a SHOO-in for an award! I personally think all of the orders will be cancelled. I also don't think that anyone who ordered these sets did anything wrong. If it was a computer glitch, they should honor the prices and fix the glitch. If they were hacked, which nobody has any proof of that, then I have no issue with them cancelling the orders.2 points

With all these sales on, don't forget to ensure you keep your rewards cards handy. I have been cashing in rewards points for Frequent Flyers, Fly Buys and MyerOne for more gift cards to use later. Stack those on top of the 20% off sales and you start picking up R2-D2 and Arkham sets for $150.1 point

I think you did fine, Hollings. Addendum: It's a good idea to read for awhile on how to invest and/or resell Lego (tons of info on this very site) before purchasing much, but in this case no real harm done. If upon further research you find you don't want these after all, you can return them to Target. The first thing you have to determine is whether you're going to hold these for the long term or whether you're trying to find sets for "quick flips" on eBay or Amazon or elsewhere. Until you have an idea of your market and your goals, there's not much point loading up on inventory.1 point

That's so sweet, but hopefully our dogs never email each other. We don't let her have leftovers other than what the kids throw her way.1 point

If you have the time, flip used sets or part-out sets you can get on clearances. The best part-out sets tend to be recently released licensed themed sets. Investing in any Lego sets with an 8 month time frame is difficult.1 point
-
Look for CL lots you could flip. Or find a popular set you can part out. You're gonna have to put in some work if you want profits in 8 months.1 point

I wouldn't invest in Lego for short-term money. I'd invest in a leaf-blower, a snow-blower (if applicable for your location) and a lawn-mower. With those three things and a little gumption you'll make a lot between now and June 21.1 point

Eh its really hard to say. How much was sold? I think in the long run it will affect some Ebay prices in the short term, and some Walmart pricing for a bit longer - then nothing else will really come out of it. Most of the LOTR sets and stuff that were on sale were not the big hitters from the series or just came out. We have a long way to go ont hem.1 point
-
My thoughts. You are not alone. I was in school when the deals happened so I missed out. As for the effects on the Christmas market, there could be some because of the large amounts of sets that were heavily discounted by accident.1 point
-
I think you're right DNIIM - you will see a few of these pop up on eBay for some pretty good prices. Keep your eyes peeled, and perhaps we'll see some of them in the Daily Deals thread!1 point
-
I'd expect there are going to be some folks who made a smart bet with the rent money and will do some quick eBay flips with this stuff. Others who can have funds tied up longer will be able to hold longer. End of the day, though, even with the great scores made by some here and some not here, it's not going to have much, if any, impact on the Lego market, short or long term.1 point

I'm actually with DNIIM here. I was actually trying to post something along those lines earlier, but for some reason I couldn't. I really hope to find a Ship for around $60 or so1 point

Here is my answer straight from Lego: Dear Alpha, Thanks for getting in touch with us. We are sorry to hear the free Holiday set was cancelled off your order. Unfortunately, this set was while supplies last and we had run out of the item in the warehouse which is why it did not make it in your order and was cancelled off your invoice. Understandably, this is upsetting for you so please accept my sincerest apologies. We would never want to do anything to upset anyone in any way, intentionally or unintentionally. We try really hard to make sure everything we do is imaginative, creative and fun, just like our toys. I'm sorry to hear you think we got it wrong this time. Listening to what LEGO1 point

Well, here are a couple of sites I remember off hand.Brick City Depot Brick Builders Pro Modulars The Unique Brick On Flickr, RedCoKid has some great designs to check out (although nothing for sale).1 point

Just an update that I'm super happy with Rebrickable so far. Because I don't intend to offer any of these parts in my Bricklink store, I ended up just loading them directly into Rebrickable (making backup copies in case the site goes kablooey sometime so I don't lose the data). I just started the project today and did a test "what can I build" with my used parts inventory thus far, and was very pleased to see a whole lot of Lego kits come up (only partially complete, of course, still have lots of parts to upload from my two bulk lot purchases). I don't know if this will be useful to any of the rest of y'all who buy bulk lots and then reassemble or make kits from them, but I thought I'd throw my experiences out there JUST in case I'm not the last one on earth to figure this out.1 point

I know. Could you ever find it in your heart to forgive me? Truthfully I wasn't the one who actually cut up the poor thing. Since it was a 'group exercise', I just recorded what was needed and left the horrible bits to my lab partner. (He enjoyed himself a little too much.) I don't wish to get bad grades but that was one time I would have graciously accepted an "F" for the assignment. I simply cannot stand cruelty to animals in any way, shape, or form (even in death). On the subject, remember in The Fly 2 from 1989 the scene where the kid puts the mutated dog out of its misery finally? I still cry everytime I watch that whole scene to this day.1 point

I'm going to every TRU in the country to buy them out so someone will post that they didn't get one on the complaint thread.1 point

I am excited to watch what LEGO does with three different sets/themes: 1) Lone Ranger: I have heard (and evidence suggests) they buy two year licenses. So it will be interesting to see if they keep producing them that long. It should tell us a lot about how they handle movie flops. I'm somewhat new to investing1 point

We sold about ten of these sets on and off ebay in the past two weeks for an average of 120-130 each. Because of this we picked up 34 more today for around 70 bucks each1 point

Here is something that will probably do well http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TAK11728&mode=retail from what I can tell the only TF pieces that are worth investing in are the masterpieces.1 point

If they don't come out with another big Optimus prime before the next movie, this could easily sell for 100-120 consistently. The beast hunter TFs are all the rage in the stores right now and frankly they suck. The other big Optimus figures sell for $150 and up now but they are better. if they release new toys with the new movie, this one will be worth $80 max, average of $70, IMHO. No trailer kills the value long term.1 point

We have this set for our city. We had not seen it at out local TRU for almost a year until a couple weeks ago. It's actually a pretty good and bad set at the same time. Cool idea, some great pieces but brittle to young hands!1 point

A barista! How wonderful for my Starbucks build. I can see myself buying 20 of them just for the cups.1 point

My latest order didn't come with the Christmas freebie so I have customer service number to inquire about the situation. She replied that they were out as I expected her to say. I politely asked if there was anything that they could do to replace it and she offered up a mini vw camper. Lego employees aren't all evil. I'm a happy customer1 point

I got to dissect a cat in Advanced Health class. It wasn't too bad, they were bled out, shaved, and had their veins dyed blue and their arteries dyed red before we cut into them. My lab partner named ours Metallikat, but he tied it to his bumper on the last day of school. Not pretty... We never dissected a fetal pig, but we did dissect a cat. My friends who went to a different school dissected a fetal pig and the snuck one out of class and stuck it in another friend's car sitting in the passenger seat with sunglasses on when it was about 95 degrees. Not a good smell at the end of the day.1 point

Or maybe they are smarter than you (us)---and don't need to worry about a lousy sawbuck. People with money are usually lookling for convenience--not running around to filthy kmarts and walmarts trying to save a few bucks. Lot easier to hit "buy" and receive the item on the porch 2 days later. That's worth $10 to a lot of people.1 point

Since we're talking about hamburgers, the new MCD $1 menu sucks. The bbq ranch burger and the buffalo ranch mcchicken are terrible.1 point

First, I don't think you should take the word of a LEGO employee that seriously. I think LEGO will probably continue the production of this set for a while longer, as it is a pretty cool set that has quite a bit of demand. I'm guessing Summer 2014.1 point

From the TRU main page, click on "Weekly Ad", then on "Flip Through Local Ads" on the next page, then click on the ad that says "1 Day Only!". Sorry - I don't know how to post a link. I'm an unfrozen caveman AFOL, and your technology frightens me.1 point

Actually a lot of people do - honestly I think less people care about your opinion. I love when people list why they would or wouldn't buy it. You know why? Because it tells us who might or might not want it after it retires. All of that is relevant. If you don't think it is, then clearly you are upset that you are failing at investing. At least don't take it out on other valuable members. Im gonna grab one, just because I don't think it can fail enough that Iwont get my money back. If it comes back in stock Ill probably offload it.1 point

I would call your local stores as the inventory checker isn't very accurate. I think it works like BB where they have to have a certain amount of copies in order for it to show up as in stock.1 point

Only in a few of my Walmarts and they haven't been clearanced in my area at all. Still seeing them in a few of my Targets.1 point
