  2. Or maybe they are smarter than you (us)---and don't need to worry about a lousy sawbuck. People with money are usually lookling for convenience--not running around to filthy kmarts and walmarts trying to save a few bucks. Lot easier to hit "buy" and receive the item on the porch 2 days later. That's worth $10 to a lot of people.

  6. Everyone here is building an army of orcs. You really do need a couple of orc forges for each tower.

  7. I would say buy, despite the fact that LEGO can be a bit shifty when it comes to retiring sets i would say with HD, Uruk hai, weathertop, gandalf set being sold out i would say this on its last legs. i cant imagine LEGO has actually put this back in full production, if they did they have lost their mind. Plus it is out of stock in most foreign countries. I personally and treating this as a gift and will be buying some soo as i hit the enter button.

  8. Received shipping confirmations and tracking numbers for all of my orders thru TRU.com. I am expecting Hogwarts Castle performance or very close to from this set.

  9. I actually went to B school with a guy who, as his career, hosted "idea parties" for businesses that would attempt to tap into the creative sides of their employees/management's brains to generate ideas for new products/businesses/processes. He got some crazy money for these sessions, and would routinely use Lego in these brainstorming sessions. I would assume these sets are targeted to this market. Corporations host these types of brainstorming sesssions all the time. Serious Play seems to me to be a B2B product offering, so Lego can ask (and likely receive) the seemingly outrageouse prices they are charging for these sets.

  10. Careful on the parents comment, low. My two sons absolutely love the LOTR series, and they are only 9 and 10 now. They started watching them when they were pretty little shooters and never complained once about being scared or having nightmares. So, as I do consider myself to be in the 'right mind', I think every kid will react differently to movies of this caliber. My boys are beside themselves excited for the new release. Anyway....back to buying more HD's!

  16. I know it sounds trite and cliche,an I don't have pics....but I literally sprayed my fire with the Apple cider I was drinking in bed..and woke up my wife. Going to get a towel now to wipe up my mess. I was laughing...then squinted to see what it said at the bottom of the stone..and blew up! Grade A right there!

  17. Uh, they want you to have KIDS so you will boy more toys (and visit babys r us to sign up for the gift registry). I think they put stuff in the water that makes you MORE fertile. I believe I once saw Geoffrey carpet bombing a planned parenthood.

  18. Sure, you COULD complain about all 3 things, and I have nothing against complainers, but please just try to show a little restraint.

  19. Thats weird, last time i was in the LEGO store i had several employees pushing me to buy the camper becuase it was retiring. I say it was weird because i never mentioned i was looking for what sets were retiring, i didnt really say anything just smiled and nodded my head. Its almost like they were trying to force the sale of it.

  20. I think my whole thing comes down to - There is a way I wish the world could be and then there is a reality. I wish things could be a little better, people didn't have to be so cut throat and savage when it came to business. In the same boat as Diabolos - while ericb may be riding the titanic. But in reality, now having an Ebay business, there are a lot of times when you have to be this way. Like with the USPS Shipping spike. If these prices really do go up, I will have to find a way to fix that with my margins. If that means clearing more shelves, raising prices, doing things a little dirty - I may not have a choice. And thats business. I don't necessarily like it - but I think some of it is just strict reality. In general, we probably just can't judge others for what they do. I am bad about it at times - like the guy who squeaked 15 crawlers out of TRU. I thought restraint would be nice - but then, really it just comes down to my personal opinion and what I feel comfortable with, right? Because where can any of us actually draw a line in the sand? And on top of that, we are all doing something that probably isn't wholesome somewhere. Again, "he who hasn't, throw the first stone". Pretty sure all of our stones are on the ground. Doesn't mean we are bad people - more we just all want the same thing: success.

  22. I hate it when the total comes to something like $9.01 and I pay with a ten, but I don't have a penny so the clerk proceeds to make 99 cents in change. But how many times over the course of a day does a customer leave without taking the few cents they are owed in change? And even if you gave ten customers back $1 instead of 99 cents over the course of a shift, your register would only be off by ten cents. I've obviously given this too much thought, but I've also worked in retail and it irritates me.

  28. Chin up! We'll get through another round! Slow-moving parents of young children despise faster-moving parents of small children who get there first. Fast-moving parents of small children despise adult collectors who buy the last box on the shelf when they SHOULD leave it "for the children!" Collectors despise the collector/casual investor who buys TWO of a set (shocking! Just shocking! Even if they are the LAST TWO!!) and don't leave any for the purist collector. Collector/Casual Investors despise the Mid-Level Investor/Collector who don't leave any for them. Mid-Level Investor/Collectors despise the High-Level Investor/Reseller (often those counting on Lego for a significant amount or all of their income) who don't leave any for them. It's not "sick" for someone to buy more Lego than another person, or for them not to leave Lego on the shelf for the children, the parents, the purist collectors, the casual investors, the lazy, the stupid, or the weak. We're not talking bottled water in a hurricane here, we're talking a luxury toy. I won't call you whiny if you don't call me sick. Or, better yet, keep calling me sick all you want instead of taking steps to make sure you can compete with me on the fair and level playing field called "Open Hours" at the store selling Lego.

  31. Whether TLG has the ability to cancel promos anytime they want or whatever is one thing, but it's bad business ethics to wait until after "checkout" is complete to tell you they've done so. I wouldn't mind if it was a case of them removing it from your cart before you checked out, but dropping it from your order after you've paid seems pretty deceptive to me. If they are out, they need to communicate that or drop all indication of the promo from the site, not cancel the order after you pay.
