Alot of people have been asking me why I box my Lego sets up way a head of time. "Well the main reason is its a mental thing, 10 years ago when I had 100's of lego sets laying around, 20 cases or more coming from lego now and then, at first it did not bother me as I was selling be boxed uplots of other toys to, but as I got more and more lego sets and as time went by, I started to crack, so many lego sets I was selling some stuff to early, i wasn't loosing money but on some sets instead of making $300 and up on some Potter older castles, The SW Snow Speeder Then in about 2006 thats when i started boxing all the sets up as I was getting them, see for me seeing all those unboxed sets laying around was getting to me, I just had the urge to sell even for small profits, I was Cracking. But Boxing everything up is great, only seeing brown boxes is way better for me. Plus the sets stay in perfect mint condition forever, plus sooner or later you have to box them up anyway. Take the picture with the 58 Helm's Deep and 68 Vampire castle's, well thats my TV room and I do sleep on the Sofa there, So see plain boxes everyday does not bother me, but years ago when I had 150 SW 6210 Original Jabba sail barge, 50 SW 6211 Star Destroyer allin the TV Room it was getting to me, I always the urge to sell these now, it was hard, so thats when I started boxing all sets up. See back then I had 20-30 cases of all the big star war sets,The batman sets, Indiana Jones, The harry potter castles etc. back then I wasn't buying many Exclusives as gettin all the other sets wholesale was great. I didn't really start buying the Exclusives until about 2007, I still have about 30 or so older exclusives. But since I can't buy Wholesale anymore, I am just buying 95% Exclusives and hard to find only.So I am sure alot of you new and even regular investors are starting to get the itch and can't wait to sell stuff during Christmas even for a minor or even break even profit. " Now take the Imperial Shuttle, well I have 50, its only been retired 9-10 months and its selling pretty good for that short of time, and since I paid an average of $200-210 I will sell about 10 on ebay for Christmas, same as the Potter Diagon Alley, and since I have 48 Black Pearls and 43 Queen Revenge I will do about 10 sets each on these to. As I will use the money to Buy More HH, Death Stars and a few other sets. How many of you guys look at all your stuff and say why did I buy half of that cheap stuff, that will take forever to make a buck or so, I have had about 10-15 emails from people saying they are sorry they got all the cheap crap, instead of getting the big Exclusive sets. Now you guys that just flip most of the time and do great, well thats good, but the big money is the big and Exclusive sets. Another thing for you new and even other investors I am sure the one's that are married alot of wife's are always yelling and complaining about all those Lego you are buying, if they were all boxed up they might not say that much. So all total I have about 1100 Boxed up lego sets, and about 400 unboxed, which I will be boxing 47 Jabba's Palace this weekend etc. So One Of my son's moved out so I just piled all these sets in the room last week. " So the key to long term Investing is don't crack" Now the Crawler is a one in a million deal that most of us has made thousands on.2 points

I know, right?! As it was, I wasn't able to sell to anyone in New York, cuz the drive thru comes with a large coke.2 points

Ed, do you have furniture in your house or do you sit and sleep on LEGO boxes?2 points

Here is my thought on how the Helm's Deep will do a year or two down the road, and if you got your's pretty cheap say $80-100 well that makes it better, And it looks like alot of us has gotten some cheaper than that, but since you can still get them pretty cheap making seems like next year and beyond they should do very well, so get them while you can, But most likely there will be people who will miss the boat on these to.So for me to have 58 of these I am 100% confident these will make me some good money. Why not a bit of both? My plan was to load up, sell, wait for restock, then buy a few more for holding long term.2 points

Bottom line is this...the current offers of double VIP points, the holiday set and Clone Trooper for STAR WARS sets is about the best you will get.1 point

If the coupon does not say anything about exclusions then you have a good case to argue with the store manager. Bring in a weeping child for maximum effect. Preferably a girl. Even if it's for the Death Star.1 point

Interestingly TRU Canada is no longer listing Helms Deep or the Unexpected Gathering sets on the website. The first was expected but not the latter.1 point

You're selling them on ebay right? Once you list and sell them (and get paid) you will see something like this: BUT, where it says Leave Feedback it will say "Print Shipping Label". Just follow the steps, select 1st Class mail if under 3 oz and print. Once you actually do it you will see ebay makes it pretty easy.1 point

PayPal, stamps.com,endicia.com,ebay if you sell the items there, etc. They all have their own shipping options. What I would do is start reading the tutorials and help pages. If you're going to sell on eBay, go read all the seller help pages. Twice. :-) Put up a couple thing and sell them. eBay will send you prompts on how to do the shipping after you sell. It's not hard, but it is complicated, and it does take some time and effort to make sure you're getting off on the right foot.1 point

Yeah. I found a deal during all of it though. I used the BOGO, and the 15% coupon and of course my TRU credit card. I got 10% back in a giftcard on the order and got 8 Uruk-Hai army's for $202 + 2 Bricktober Minifig packs. I sold the Minifig packs for about $19 a piece after fees. I parted out 5 of the Uruk's and am close to getting almost the rest of the money I spent back. So I will basically get 3 Uruks free out of the deal.1 point

That`s frustrating to hear. You just can`t please some people. This really is one of the things where people should just "get it" (as in, understand that the tape is still considered factory sealed) yet they don`t. Honestly, I`ve seen this sort of thing more then once and thought nothing more then to just note seeing it. Sorry but I don`t know what to tell you. Wish I did. The fact that people can be so stubborn in filing a Paypal claim for this just blows1 point

I just received shipment of 1 more of these sets from a local online store. This is the first time they have been available locally other than the first run on the Lego S@H website and were limited to 1 only and sold out with pre-sales about a month ago. So if you international people look around there may be some stores or online sites in your area selling these as exclusives right now in limited quantities. Damn thing came pretty poorly packaged but was relieved to find the box inside mint1 point

As I stated earlier, there are some people that have the luxury of a LEGO store near to them. Some people have multiple stores. Most people do not. I believe there are 70-75 LEGO stores in the US, covering 29 of the 50 states. Most Americans do not have easy access to one. Consider yourself lucky to be one of the fortunate ones.1 point

I'm not sure I see more or less work either way. In each case, you need to procure the set, and ship the set. It should take the same amount of time to drive to the store, buy it, list it, package it, label it and drop it off at the post office now as it will in three years. The only real cost difference is storage if you pay for it. I suppose you can include some opportunity cost if you're storage is "free" but that's nearly impossible to quantify. The only difference is with investing, you're delaying half the work to a much later date.1 point

just another example of rip-offs-r-us shady business practices and why it should be the LAST place you spend your hard earned investment dollars. what i can't believe is that the manager actually admitted that. if it was me i would certainly be making a phone call to the district manager or even someone higher and complaining. that is total BS.1 point
