  1. It comes up as Chinese, and I have no idea what the heck it reads. All I get is, well, this. J

  3. Went to a Lego store the other night to pick up an Ewok Village with all the VIP points I had. I have been to this store quite a bit so most of the people know me pretty well. Its funny because a lot of the people on here talk about Lego employees accusing people of reselling, etc. (Like Willy's insane Lego store manager story), but none of them have questioned any of my ridiculous purchases, nor my stupid amount of VIP points. Either way, they were training a new guy while I was there. Now, I generally don't let on when talking to people that I know what I am doing - don't want anyone to know I am checking out stuff to resell later. I told him I had a coupon and asked him if there was anything it didn't work on (hoping as he was new he wouldn't know since it just says the employee reserves the right to deny a set). He said "It doesn't work on exclusives". I went on to say "How do I know what's exclusive". Here is where it got interesting. He went on to talk about how exclusives are only at the Lego store and they are awesome and very expensive and then several years down the line they are worth like 800-1000 dollars so you should buy them now! One of the other older employees came out and kind of chimed in to this effect. As I went to the register, one of the guys saw I was purchasing a good $350 worth of stuff and mentioned - "I guess you are like me and buy all this stuff and leave it sealed for a long time". Really? Lego can't even control its employees - my store is encouraging me to buy to resell. I am not going to complain. Just seems like if you are going to have a policy - you should train your employees to not say things directly against it.

  9. So you were trying to take advantage of a new employee by trying to use a coupon you knew exactly what it shouldn't work on? Doesn't seem very wholesome.

  10. That is some kind of error. I am a Chinese too, so I can read Chinese. However, that Chinese is not a regular words

  11. If I was working for minimum wage your darn straight I'd be using my discount and selling anything I could buy to supplement my income. Good for them. Young entrepreneurs starting out small and learning the ins and outs of business. Now to just get one of them to let me use their discount card.

  12. I appreciate your zeal for this new system. Entrepreneurs are the fuel of the global economy. Unfortunately, Lego isn't selling a brick system or an interlocking assembly any more - that ship sailed long ago. Today, they sell themes - City, Star Wars, Ninjago, etc. - within a building system that's been incorporated into and accepted by the modern toy market over the span of 60 years. Look at Lego brick bins - do they sell? Sure, but they don't sell anywhere close to Lego's themed sets. Kids (and adults) want that new Sensei Wu character, or that Lone Ranger train they just saw in the movie, not a new piece that connects bricks differently. This idea might have a chance if the new technology can somehow pair with a theme that wouldn't be possible to create with Lego's current part catalog. Unfortunately this will be VERY tough sledding since Lego's part catalog is extremely extensive, Lego has some of (if not the) best licenses on the market. Good luck with your new business idea, and make sure your bricks are equal in quality and finish to Lego bricks. I think that's the single worst aspect of Mega Bloks, Kre-o and other knock offs, and definitely discourages brand shifting.

  13. Amazon.fr has put the foot down with selling toys to some countries. They aren't shipping them here to Australia anymore, even though I have bought 8 or so from there before.

  14. While the "brick" hasn't really changed in those 60 years, Lego as a whole has transformed immensely into what it is today.

  21. Just a brief side tangent: I don't get why people run their marriages like this. Every man, woman, and child in this house gets a sum of money handed to them each month for whatever personal spending (clothing, hobbies, whatever) they wish to do with it. They can save up that sum for something big, they can fritter the sum away on lots of small things. Married people: make a family budget that, unlike our government, matches your income and stop bickering about who bought too many lattes last month and who wants too many Lego this month. It's so simple it Just Might Work! (Tangent over.)

  22. Agreed....the only thing in play here is that Lego did not release all 20,000 at one time. All the conspiracy theorists should just pipe down.

  23. I just want to clarify my point. People have every right to make money the best way it suits them, as long as it's legit and honest. All are welcome to use our site. I know some think of LEGO bricks as a commodity, but it is my wish that people who use our site have an appreciation of LEGO bricks and have at least built a set or two. It might be a bit unrealistic or illogical viewpoint, but I believe the long term success of this site and LEGO investing depends on people being fans of the little plastic bricks, not just resellers of them.

  26. I like this part: "When measurement ruler are shown in picture they are in inches unless described as a different measurement type." Also, all the toys are listed under the same category. I think it's a kid listing everything in his room (as well as his parents' house). The photos look like they were taken under the covers with a flashlight.
