  1. Thanks emazers, love your posts, always like the info you share. On the topic of box sizes, do you use bubble wrap around your sets? I use 1/2" bubble wrap around the entire set and I order from a local box company similar to ULINE. ULINE has free S&**** for orders over $300 which is helpful if you can get over that amount to qualify. The company I use is happy to match that free S&**** offer. Same as you, I try to minimize the box sizes I use to ship various sets to keep things as simple as possible and to be able to take advantage of those 25+ required box bundles. I use a spreadsheet to track length, width and height and then try to fit as many sets into one size as reasonably possible. Looks like this basically:

  2. Well I buy 100's of boxes a year or so, either from Staples.com, uline.com or from a box company in Baltimore. Now it seems like Staples.com is the best place to get them, as the Quality is as good as uline.com and the price is way cheaper as Staples has free shipping. As for the Perfect box for the haunted House, Fire Brigade etc, well I got 100 of them from a box company in baltimore for $1.00 each he had 100 of them so I got all 100 but the way it looks I will need more. "But back to Staples and Uline. I ordered 25 of the 20"X16"x4" This is the perfect box for the Volkswagen camper, Friends Olivia's House, 6868 batcave, Etc. and I also ordered 25 of the 15"x12"x4" this box is for the Funhouse, and Orc Forge that I have. From Either site you have to buy the boxes in Bundles, 95% are bundles of 25 or 20. So the Price for these boxes from. ULine.com $64.25 Plus $30.28 shipping. $94.53 Total usually you get the boxes 1-2 days delivered. Now Staples total was $64.74 Free Shipping. So for $30 Cheaper Staples.com is the way to go, the only drawback for staples is you have to order $60 or more for free shipping, and it took a week to get my boxes, as I had them shipped to Staples where I go to the Movies, not sure on how long it takes if they are shipped direct to your house. So $94.53 from uline.com or $64.74 from Staples.com and the boxes were the same Quailty.

  6. I would rather buy a Rolex than a platinum Lego piece. If I had that piece, I could maybe trade it for a 10179 and some more.

  7. If you have an amex card they are offering $25 statement credit on a $75 purchase at Staples or Staples.com. Log into your amex account online and then click on the "offers for you" tab and it should be there. Every penny helps! I have used staples in the past for their 24x16x4 boxes. They are the standard 32lb edge crush test boxes you will get from anywhere else. Shipping does take about 10 days to get to your house tho. Also staples only has a small selection of sizes. I contacted my local packaging companies whose regular prices are always alot more than uline or staples. I asked if they would price match uline as I would prefer to support a local business and they where happy to. Now I get all of my boxes thru the local company with all sizes available. Give your local businesses a shot - uline prices and I can pick up my order the next day. For bubble wrap the cheapest prices by far that I have found are on ebay.

  10. Man......I learned my lesson tonight! Hard style! Saw a hero factory guy I wasn't familiar with on Craig's for 15 bucks. Punched it up on bp as always to see what value was. I did a triple take---checked the part number and picture and description. It was showing worth 120 new...and this one was misb. I immediately emailed and begged her to sell it to me tonight 9pm eastern. She agreed and I punched it---scooting across the state 35 miles. Got the item and a few others she had listed...not really deals....but I was planning a money maker on the hero factory so bought her used junk too for another 30 bucks. I was so happy on the way home...stopped and treated myself to a Starbucks caramel iced machiato or whatever...and got one for the wife to cool her off for putting up with my crazy hobby. So get home and show the wife, and she said my son already has that guy...what is so special about him? Then I looked at the box..and I wasn't sure why it was so valuable. Punched up bp and she was shocked that it was worth so much and immediately went to my sons collection...as we were going to list both as used was almost the same price. Went on eBay to list them for a quick payday...scanned the box and started to prefill...selected a buy it now and started typing in $109 and eBay suggested a bin of just $14. Yeah right! I kept filling in the info...then I pulled my tablet while I was mid-listing on the phone to see where the last ones sold at. 14, 15. WTF!?!? I feel burgled, thwurtled, by a fish...like the cat in hat song....I was listening to for the ride. Luckily my wife went up to bed....I am NOT telling her this---just going to stuff them in the back of my closet and hope she never asks me what they sold for. I am such a shmoozler, a schmingler and a poo poobler too! Got those darn cat in the hat songs stuck in my head now! Brother Macks....can you please fix lego number 2231.....value is a bit off http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-X70iQVdvfg

  12. Welcome to BrickPicker. Wow, it's really hard to cram all there is to know about LEGO investing, but I'll try to get in as much in as possible, as well as give you a few resources to get yourself off the ground... LEGO investing is very similar to investing of any kind. You use the basic principle of "Buy low, sell high", but instead of buying stocks, precious metals, or other more commonly invested commodities, you are investing in LEGO bricks. Like most quite a few things, LEGO's appreciate as time progresses. The main reason for the inflation of prices of sets is because the LEGO Company, or TLG, discontinues the production of sets after a period of time, usually about 2-3 years, though there are exceptions, such as the 10188 Death Star. In order for the price of a set to increase, you need to choose "good" investments, which means that there has to be demand for the sets after it retires. Ask yourself whether people will want to buy the set 2 years, 3years, or whenever you plan on selling. If you think it will be in high enough demand to increase the price, then there's a decent chance that other people agree with you. I am also a teen, so welcome to the club! Teen investors of LEGO are a very small group, primarily because teens are either going out of LEGO, or even if they retain some interest in LEGO products, they don

  15. If they use the shopping cart and then pay the seller all at once, they can get any combined shipping discount the seller has set up (or can request a total from the seller if the seller does it manually after the sale) and the seller will receive only one PayPal purchase. If they simply hit "Buy it Now", they're going to buy it now, no combo (eBay is in the process of eliminating the "commit to buy" on the Buy it Now items. I don't know if they've finished that rollout, or how it affects eBay.ca, though). What eBay needs to do is remove the stupid "Buy it Now" button entirely, so that buyers know to put the items in the blessed cart just like every other eCommerce site ever devised by man or mutant, and then nobody gets confused and ends up paying three times for three items from the same seller. For future refunds, simply refund anything you feel they're due for overpayment on shipping, but reserve the .30/transaction fee to cover your costs on the PayPal transactions, if you're concerned about them.
