About 8 Months ago I had a post Here is a update on the New Star Wars Ewok Village & New Big X-wing, I had the price and I seen full color pictures of them months before they came on this site, well the same Lego Rep told me this Oct 1st at a Lego store when I was there, this guy travels to different Lego stores to make sure things are running smooth, "gravy Job" he said, The lego store was not opened yet, so as I knew who he was I starting talking to him, and after I told him what he told me and the Lego employees about the Ewok Village etc 8 months ago, i started asking him stuff, and he said these 3 sets are done, at least thats what was said at the meeting he had in CT 2 weeks before, every 2 weeks ago or so there is always a big meeting in Lego in CT on all kinds of stuff, He said lego told Amazon, walmart, target, etc that all Exclusives & hard to find sets are suppose to be sold at Retail price, no big sales, but Amazon, Etc are not happy about this and are letting lego how they oppose this policy, and lego is getting Tons of complaints from people about the 10% Coupon and the Kidstuff $20 coupon if you spend over $100, Kidstuff said they will not let lego advertise in there Coupon books if they get enough complaints. He said the best thing to do is complain to lego how you oppose this new Policy, and there was talk that they wanted to not give double VIP Points on the Exclusives and hard to find, but they decided that would be to much for Lego Customers to take. So he said maybe Lego might bend the rules for the Holidays for Amazon etc on them having big sales on Exclusives. He said Lego is trying to do what ever they can to discourage big time investors from buying 40 haunted Houses like me. He said the Tower Bridge was suppose to retire This year and they have changed there mind 2 times on what to do, he said we just have to wait to see on that one. He said with lego until you really see it on there website retiring soon you really 100% can't believe what you hear. He did tell me 2 other Real great news rumors, but I am keeeping my mouth shut until I actually see it in writing.2 points

If you can, you should get her autobiography, that she was just finishing before she died. A brilliant read. The audio version is good as well read by Caroline John (who played Liz Shaw) who also pass away recently. The audio book has a forward read by David Tennant and a post script read by Sadie Miller, Elisabeth's daughter.2 points

Slap a huge shipping label on the lego box. If he complains, tell him that's how the guy at walmart said to ship it.2 points

First time posting, long time lurker. Moderately committed investor. Happy to be here! For me it takes some inspiration to get started. Case in point, take a look at the free holiday set coming up in a few days. I thought to myself, "wow, a tree stand!" Then I start turning the wheels, and decide I'd love to see a full sized, stocked tree stand. One just like those I remember visiting while growing up. In my town, they consisted of a fenced off area in a parking lot, with a temporary/transportable stand,/building and a few attendants roaming the grounds. Thus, the process starts: 1. Get inspired. 2. Think about it for a few days. 3. Draw mental images. 4. Play around in LDD, get frustrated, take a week away from it. 5. Come back, start building from the bottom up. 6. Reinvent the design at least a dozen times to make sure it is scalable, affordable to build, and will fit its purpose (in this case, that it is Winter Village inspired). 7. Get the design completed, then rebuild half of the stuff I don't like. 8. Finish build, then start to price parts through PAB online and Bricklink. Consider a few changes to accomodate more afforable parts. 9. Print a picture of the design and show it off to the girlfriend, who tolerates my Lego obsession solely because she loves decorating the house in seasonal themed Lego designs/sets (particularly Halloween and Christmas). 10. Start buying parts. Attached is that tree stand I'm talking about. Some inspiration from the holiday giveaway, light posts are a mixed inspiration (I might have too many, but remember an abundance of artificial light from the trips as a kid), as it would be crazy to have all the lamp posts match in the Winter Village... Looking at you, Lego. I'm sure I'll change something else once the actual building commences...2 points

Half of me says to buy it, the other says don't. Maybe I should flip for it...2 points

There are two things at play here: 1) It might be smart for some, most, or all eBay purchases to contact the seller in advance and say, "Thanks for offering this - I do need it to arrive in the condition stated, so if you need any help/advice on how to package this safely, please let me know." It's still offensive to send that to a non-idiot, but as one of the non-idiots who gets a variety of those messages, I don't blame the buyers for being worried I don't know how to package things. They've no doubt met DoNot's seller and all his inbred cousins. 2) Regardless of whether a buyer goes with the above entitled option, it is absolutely, positively, 100% the eBay sellers responsibility to make that item arrive EXACTLY as it is shown and described in the listing, and no eBay buyer ever should feel bad about demanding same. If I have mis-read anyone's response and they are advising #1 but I interpreted that they were disagreeing with #2 (no scatological puns intended), I apologize.2 points

Great idea - I would be a buyer of this as well. They could use the dealership I bought my Ford at as a template - it was the same building where Al Capone used to buy his cars back in the 30s - Motor Row in Chicago. Also, it would be cool if they could work in an homage to a vintage set I had as a kid: 6373 Motorcycle Shop1 point

Seems to be a nice file here (Series 1-11 Compendium 2nd edition by Michael Bradford)1 point

The January release is only a suggested date. Majority of this year's sets had that "January 1" date when we started hearing about them last year and only so many of them actually were available by then. I too found it funny with the guy holding "The One Ring" but it is just a generic ring part so I'm sure they'll use it elsewhere like maybe in a jewelry store modular. I like your automotive dealer idea although I have no idea how they could fit a car into the build itself unless it was a Mini or maybe that light blue Reliant Regal from just about every episode from Mr. Bean. :lol:1 point

Hah - I thought you might not like that... We can definitely agree on the quality issue. I am always surprised by how terrible the plastic is from knock off brands. Even Megabloks feel like garbage in comparison.1 point

Dam you!!!! Ex-plee-my-arse-off!!! See I didn't know that was form Harry Ripoff. Minas Tirith or Hog Farts? Well???? lol. It would be nice to have Dr Who toys made by Lego for just one thing, The quality of their product. CB bricks look/feel cheap. Stomping1 point

Depending on the purpose, I build in a few different ways. For contests, I usually spend maybe 20 minutes envisioning what I am going to make on paper, or in my head, then starting with a "skeleton" of a build, then filling in cool functions and decorations. I've uploaded my most recent one into the Gallery, if you want to take a look. As you can see, there is still quite a visible skeleton, but I started out with 4 columns and a platform, then put together the ramp, which was inspired by the 41999 Crawler and the spear holders. On casual builds, I still like to make an outline in my head, but since I am not limited to a prompt, I just fill whatever seems like it would fit. Earlier this summer, I put together a LEGO minifigure out of bricks, that was 6x larger than the conventional minifigure. With builds like that, you are basically just clicking away for the experience. One of the big things I was working on for that build was the curvature of a LEGO minifigure head, which I've really never attempted. Finally, look at what other people have done in the past with their MOCS. Even take a look at some official LEGO models. Use a mix of bricks and Technic pieces, build for a variety of themes. You learn a whole lot!!1 point

On a sad note, here is a semi custom minifigure of the amazingly beautiful Sarah Jane Smith played by the late Elisabeth Sladen who passed away from cancer at the age of 65 in 2011. Rest in piece, you incredible woman. You shall never be forgotten. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycxBiGX8T641 point

if new in box thats about a 35% discount from retail. if you like them to build its a pretty decent deal, i personally dont think those particular sets are great investments. thats just my opinion though!1 point

Hm. Forgive me for thinking a little outside the box, but for Investing purposes, I'd go with the Super Star Destroyer. Building wise, I think the modulars offer a bit more, but it is always nice to learn how to build in a circular shape - something that I personally struggle with. Collecting wise, I'd still go with the modulars. To me, they offer more bang for your buck.1 point

At your service! All numbers are based on September 2013 BrickPicker data in USED condition. Only sets in this list are the ones listed in the earlier post by Sauromosis. Hope this helps1 point

Death Star. Its a cod-piece. I don't think anyone will walk into the room and look at the modulars like they look at the death star.1 point

Ahh sorry bro. The mint Wayne Gretzki hockey card for $190 i sold you got wet? Well the guy at the post office told me to just put a stamp on it like a postcard and put it in the mailbox outside, sooooo yeah. NotMY fault.1 point

The death star is an awesome set, no doubt, but I'd go with the modulars on all three. As for building experience, I think the modulars provide a better build. They have extreme detail, and I love how they use certain pieces in ways you wouldn't expect. Collecting wise, again I'd go with modulars. They are quite literally built to be combined. I'm trying to get into lego investing but I have a ridiculous urge to collect all the modulars, build them, and make an awesome town. Investing wise, again the modulars. The death star has been around for 6(?) years now, people will own multiples of copies. And it shows no sign of retiring, it keeps appearing in the major catalogs. By the time it does retire (if ever) it will take a really long time for it to get up to the price of a UCS set.1 point

Umm, since when do you have to ask every single time how someone packs anything? If you have a preferred method or would like to make a suggestion such as skip the set box and place all its contents in a smaller packing box then that is one thing, but it should not be required to ask how the person is going to ship your goods. Heck, I know if someone I was selling to kept asking me how I was going to ship their stuff every single time, I would get a little annoyed and probably get the idea they themselves think I'm not capable enough to know how to pack. I am really not trying to be argumentative here. It just seems ridiculously incessant to essentially pester a seller everytime it comes to packing the items. And anyone who thinks brown wrapping paper is gonna cut it is a complete nincompoop. You wouldn't just wrap up a DVD for example in a simple layer of shipping paper, would you? The paper isn't made of adamantium or mithril for crying out loud. But if you are worried about how someone will ship an item especially a person you've never bought anything from then you would be better off to just ask.1 point
-
I'm so sorry about your box, I should have never sent it that way... My bad.... . I'd push for a bigger discount then part the set out and buy another . It's happened to me twice last month. That's the risk when you buy and don't specify shipping method. Depending on the set I buy, I'll ask them to double box it. Remind them it's useless if it's damaged. Sometimes you have to send Jean Reno and make them understand.1 point

I agree that it is a lot of money to put towards one set, but you can get it for 1,000,000 Brickpoints in the Brickpoints store, but that may take a while.1 point

Geez justafrog, you do not have to be that logical. Of course it is the buyers' fault for not sending the following text with EVERY single purchase they make on eBay: "PACK ITEM IN THICK CARDBOARD BOX OR FACE MY WRATH MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!" DNIIM, I would open case since seller asked for it. Just be wary of seller retaliation1 point
-
Great googly moogly, it's an epidemic of stoopid. Now, Willy, did you email the seller in advance and say, "Dear Seller, please be sure to ship the item so that it doesn't look like an elephant sat on it from Dallas to Mobile. Here are precise instructions for how to do your job: .... " If not, it's clearly your fault and you deserve to receive damaged items.1 point

Personally I would want a 1000$ set, but problem is I would want it in a theme where I doubt anyone could expect seeing it surface... that would be Minas Tirith 1000$ set.... Since I am mostly LOTR/Hobbit LEGO fan I dont care if a 1000$ is released ever... I suspect it might be in 5 years or so.1 point

New movies with the falcon appearance isnt a reason for re-editon of UCS falcon at all - it is just reason for classic scale model for thousands of children. UCS is just for AFOLs, which are not so depend on actual movies. The best way for TLC is just continue with 7965 and sell it more years. I also agree with some opinions here that re-released UCS falcon will be probably smaller and more suitable for people, for which is price over 400 dolars for lego too much.1 point

I agree. I am not saying his refund wasn't good - I just don't think its that beneficial to me. I really wanted a set in good condition - all the ones I have are beaten up. Honestly, I normally would take it and probably would have if he had just taken responsibility for it. But he was kind of indignant. Also, I have had one of those days at work that makes you want to punch children. So there is that as well. Lol While I don't feel like I should have to I have considered this. Only reason I dont is I find it annoying to get these messages from Ebay users. I put righ tin my listings how well I will ship it so maybe thats why. My wife thinks its fine though, so it may just be me being stupid about it. We have established I do that. lol The one thing I hate about that is if I say that, it may make the seller come back asking for more shipping money etc. because it is a demand that may not have been previously met. Yeah, it would be different if I didn't already have the set. I really wanted a Mint one though. I mean if someone wants it I can accept his refund and ship it to you. lol. Just not for me. Another good point on box condition - do you all find good condition sets are easier to store? I hate the ones that dont sit up straight and look nice. And this means I can never set a smaller set on top of it.1 point
