We aren't talking about the real issue here. "My Wife is Buying Me the Death Star" From this statement, it is clear your whole life is a giant success. Continue to reap the benefits.3 points

I agree with the new lurker guy. Stop hanging around with Huw and Dr. Dave from Brickset and get the damn data live. Nobody wants to hear your excuses. Excuses are like a**holes, everyone has one. Chop. Chop. I'm holding back your allowance until this data goes live.2 points

If the seller doesn't agree to cancel, I would pay up and read descriptions more closely in future. Not worth the unpaid item strike and it's 50/50 whether eBay would side with you since it does state the missing parts. Also, take your own advice and be wary of stock photos. Read. :-) Edited to add: as a seller, I cancel any transaction for any reason at the request of the buyer. This is, however, a courtesy and I am not compelled to do it under eBay rules or even my own moral code -- I just prefer not to get into measuring contests with buyers.2 points

That's a doozy of a first post. Complaining about a free service provided at the time and expense of the two admins? Like stephen alluded earlier in the post, the site admins Jeff and Ed give greatly of their own time and money to run and develop this site and have never asked for a dime from the community. The eBay Terrapeak data costs a lot of money, yet they don't ask for subscription money. Both have full time jobs outside of this site, so their time to run the site is limited. And with Eurpoean, British and Australian values now added to the US eBay pricing, the job of updating the information is now four times the work. Add in the new Brick Classifieds module that the admins are working on feverishly, and I hope you understand the reasons the monthly update may be a bi-monthly update for the next few months. Or perhaps into perpetuity? That's up to them. I would be surprised if there was another website that provides investors with the depth of content and specific features this one does, so I'm not sure I'm buying the argument that there's an easy replacement, and hundreds of investors are abandoning the site. Maybe I'm wrong.2 points

I would respond to this but i gave to go grab my kid, head to Costco, and park my cart in the middle of an aisle so as to block all the men wanting to get home to watch a football game .....2 points

These are retired at the end of the year, I am sure lego will still have these for the next month or so. Now if you are an investor you should have stocked up on these as the price should rise pretty quick."The only thing that would slow down the price rise if Target or Tru have this set as there black Friday sale, adding another 20,000-40,000 would slow price growth for a little while. I don't understand how some guys on here think this set will never be worth anything, should be a $200-300 set easy, alot of you guys missed out on the Black Pearl, Queen Revenge and others, and I was saying the same thing last year about them, so don't make the same mistake on this set.2 points

Okay, these builds are not official Lego sets but they are pretty cool fan builds. Here's the website.1 point

Monster fighter sets, not including Haunted House, are 30% off in LEGO B&M stores. They are probably just giving it one last push to clean out the inventory.1 point

As a gibbering, slavish Dr. Who fangirl, I, too, wish Lego had gotten the rights to it. Bottom line, in most if not all cases, Lego's going to go after the rights on the stuff they think they can make the biggest fortune on, and the rights holders are going to go with whatever toy makers are offering them the biggest stack of cash. I remain sad inside, however.1 point

Why do I have to have posted before to make a credible argument? I am using their own statement to judge their priorities not making them up or being presumptuous. If you think I am trying to attack them then you1 point

After looking at the listing, I dont think he was trying to trick anyone, but he should have noted the set was incomplete in the title of the listing. To me, "new" in a way implies that everything is there (we have a huge inventory of brand new cars!! (tires sold seperately)). Sure the condition is indeed new, but this item is in my opinion, new with an asterick. So imo he should have made some sort of note in the item title. I dont think he will have a problem cancelling though, from a sellers pov not worth the hassle of dealing with a potential case, back and forth with the buyer, just cancel, get your fees back, re-list. Thats what I would do anyway.1 point

Well I, for one, demand the same level of perfection in the admins that I am capable of myself. They're going to have to do a LOT worse.1 point

Yeah Im with you Quacs. No offense to a new poster and I want to encourage you to post more but a couple of things: 1. If you are solely using this price guide, you are set up to fail anyway. Its volatile as hell and can absolutely be wrong because of the way things are listed and reported on Ebay. Yes it is an awesome and epic tool, but your own eyes and judgement in a bunch of different places make way more sense. 2. I think a lot of people need to realize that this site is free meaning there is no obligation to anyone. 3. I can't believe I haven't paid once for Diabolos!1 point

Good one! While I agree the value guide is an important and appealing aspect of the site, I guess I don't think one extra month's worth of wait is going to radically alter 90% of the brickfolios on the site or provide some insight a Brickpicker couldn't figure out in two minutes of checking eBay sales. And I respectfully disagree that the Brickfolio tool is THE main attraction for newcomers. My guess is the Deals threads is now the most valuable tool on the website, and Brick Classifieds has the potential to provide just as valuable of a service (if not moreso) to investors than any of the modules currently online. My issue with this is twofold: #1 - I think telling the admins what their priorities should be is presumptuous, and frankly can sound disrespectful, especially from someone who has never made a post before. I will always assume that someone with zero posts has little to no understanding of what it takes to make these monthly Brickfolio updates. It's not a "point and click" operation. That's why reading the preceding post got my dander up a little. I will freely admit I may have had one too many cups of coffee this morning and that monthly updates are great. I don't agree the development of Brick Classifieds and general site development should be preempted for an August update. The know the Site Admins agree with me on this. #2 - I strongly disagree the Brickfolio updates are time sensitive. All recent set sales information is readily available on eBay, and most (if not all) serious investors do not need the Brickfolio to make decisions on when and what to sell. Anyone that wants to know the value of their collection because it's fun to know doesn't have a time sensitive need in my opinion. Anyone that needs real time information can export their Brickfolio to a data file and peform their own update. I would love for these updates to occur in real time, but that's not realistic given the admins' available resources. Jeff and Ed have already told the community they would be missing a few updates because of the development of Brick Classifieds, and it was generally met with approval/acceptance. Personally, I think sacrificing a month of updates is completely reasonable given the potential of the module that many hope will be rolled out soon.1 point

Step 1: Do the happy dance. Step 2: Be happy your getting the Death Star because it's awesome. Step 3: Don't worry about other sets because your wife bought you a frickin Death Star. Step 4: Let others be jealous. Step 5: Repeat.1 point

Umm....it's a Transformer and....it's really....big? I don't know. I stopped collecting any of these guys many years ago. Abductive reasoning....isn't that a fancy term for "guessing"? Well, while it may not be sexist, it can certainly come across that way.1 point

TRU can do whatever they want just as anyone else can. It's been brought up in these threads many times in the past - obviously if they keep doing it, it must be working to some degree, someone's still paying because if everyone thought like we did they wouldn't achieve even a dollar in sales with those mark-ups. It's up to the buyer to do their research, be an educated consumer, and shop elsewhere. TRU preys on those that either don't feel like doing that research or don't mind paying more for the convenience of not having to. Kind of like paying 1.00 extra for a gallon of milk in 7-11 because you don't feel like going into the grocery store and waiting in a longer line to get the same thing. Some parents like being able to buy all their birthday/Christmas items in one fell swoop and will pay the mark-up. I still think TRU sucks, but I see the other side of the coin. Yes, it is deceptive to a degree, especially when you "change" MSRP....but again, it's on the consumer to research before spending.1 point

Now, now -- he's not being sexist at all. It's just like people who don't want African American children to play on their street because it invites crime, or men who keep their women at home (and out of Costco) where they belong for the ladies own safety, or not wanting your son to take up interior decorating or hair styling because we all know what THAT means. FTR, as an official Mom and Costco shopper, I am a speed demon in there, my kids when they were young enough to be in the way rode in an extra cart, and all the blocked aisles I run into seem to be inhabited by men talking about how the little woman needs to know her place.1 point
-
I wonder if these "sunday shopping moms" who block aisles with their carts are the same uneducated moms of kids who play soccer who are constantly being taken for a ride at TRU???? Seriously, why all the mom bashing? Its kind of lame.1 point

Metroplex came out in 1986, was the quintessential G1 Transformer of its time, and was featured prominently in the comic and cartoon series and the beginning of the original animated movie (as autobot city). If you were even remotely into the toys in their first 2 years of existence, you would be familiar with Metroplex.1 point

Alright, who has two thumbs and said what the Recruitment (Microfighters) set builds would be? They are mini builds big enough to hold a minifigure yet small enough for an impulse buy just as I pointed out prior. Here are the images in high resolution. (I saved a backup of each just in case they get taken down which just happened. Glad I planned ahead.)1 point
