  1. After some random research and browsing of certain sets (mainly City and modular houses), I noticed something a little discerning. A large lack of baseplates in any set at all anymore. For example, take a good look at the previous Fire Station in 2010. Aside from having a wierd floorplan, it used four baseplates of two different types. 16 x 16 baseplate with driveway & 8 x 16 baseplate Now take a look at this year's Fire Station. Less wierd floorplan but the structure is more odd and absolutely no baseplates used. Everything is thick three 16 x 16 plates and a single 8 x 16 plate. I don't know about you but for $100 I expect some actual baseplates to help justify the cost. Another example, the Police Station from 2011. One big 32 x 32 baseplate (driveway) and a 16 x 32 baseplate. Heck, even another example of a much smaller baseplate; Bank & Money Transfer also from 2011. One small 8 x 16 baseplate but still a baseplate all the same. Actually anymore it seems as though the modular houses are the only sets with a baseplate included. I'm trying to figure out why the sudden change overall? I mean, normal sets (even the big expensive ones) are not using the classic system of baseplates aside from modular houses. This is why it feels like baseplates are for some reason becoming a rare breed and I find that frustrating especially when it comes to building a cityscape. Sure I can still buy the 32 x 32 green or blue baseplate from Shop-at-home but it's not really the same though is it? What do I do to get a 16 x 32 baseplate or any other one? I also find it frustrating because it appears like I would have to buy a $150 modular house to get a baseplate in a set. That's ridiculous.

  2. Sign up for Barnes and Noble and pounce when they send you a 20% off coupon. Also if you have a student ID it's another 10% off as well.

  4. I always wanted it... but never had it. So I bought the re-issue for my kids last Christmas. I also bought (well, I gave it to my parents to give) the re-issue of the G1 Metroplex for my oldest son's birthday last November. He plays with the re-issue of G1 Transformers more than most of the newer ones because they are so much easier to transform.

  7. It's not an exclusive problem to him... I just quickly searched for Bioshock Infinite freezing/crashing errors on Steam and there are literally thousands of posts about this issue with 2K in varying degrees. If the new folder structure didn't work... close out Steam completely and update EVERYTHING. EDIT - Running out of ideas but try this: Go to the Library, select

  8. Update all your drivers! I had the problem with Skyrim on Steam, and after updating every driver I could think of, it ran fine. Took a week to figure out which one it was. I have a laptop gaming machine and it has 2 video cards. It has an Intel one that I do not use for gaming (you can choose which one for which application) so I didn't bother to upgrade it. After reading that the NVidia card I have runs through the Intel card, I gave it a shot, and that did the trick. Anyway, it could be your sound card, video card, maybe even a usb driver that is causing a problem.

  9. Don't try to edit the shortcut. Open steam and click open the LIBRARY tab at the top and you should see a list of games on your left side in a column. Right click on Bioshock and open properties. Then you should see a box that says LAUNCH OPTIONS, open it and input -windowed and then try loading it. Steam always needs to be connected to the internet, but your problem is with the file structure. Did you try adding that file structure to My Documents? If you do that and then launch the game from within Steam, I'd bet that would fix the loading screen freeze.

  10. Create "My GamesBioshock InfiniteXGameconfig" directory in your My Documents and leave it empty. There might be a cache loading problem with the game if you've ever moved your My Documents folder on that computer.

  11. Two things I can think of off the top of my head: try closing Steam completely and running it as an administrator or try running the game in window mode.

  12. I am personally a big fan of large-scale models of real-life landmarks (contrary to the Architecture line, where some builds use only a few hundred pieces), so I intend on picking it up, but I haven't decided when, or how I will do so. As an investment, I don't think skyrocketing is the correct word to use when talking of the Tower Bridge. Sets that have skyrocketed and are most well-known were the underdogs - for example, the UCS Imperial Shuttle. Prior to it's retirement, it wasn't a favorite of the majority of investors. I think that sets that are widely talked about as being "great investments" don't grow as much as the conversations on the sets continue, as a general statement, but there are always exceptions. I'm guessing that this set will double in the first 2 years after retirement, though this number could be WAY off.

  14. I've been perusing the Star Wars offerings trying to determine the answer myself. I think Sept and Oct will be "Star Wars" buying months for me for sure - two LEGO Shop at Home freebies for every $75+, plus all those lovely VIP points, is a good deal in my book. Fortunately the Star Wars offerings are so plentiful I can look like a Star Wars fangirl (I'll wear my I Han Solo shirt whilst I order, in case Lego has finished installing those see-thru-the-internet cameras they're working on... ) and not a :::shudder::: reseller.
