LOL...The one fringe benefit to owning a brick and mortar business is to sometimes have some extra space to store LEGO sets.2 points

No way dude. The new turtles look great. And they're definitely closer to Eastman and Laird's version than the 90s cartoon was.2 points

One of my friends ordered a video game off Amazon and got Dog food. He got to keep the dog food.2 points

** Update ** I really wanted the min VW to place next to its big brother on my shelf. I am an hour away from a store and rarely go in that direction. I thought I would try to place an order just to see what happened. Lo and behold, it accepted my payment and took me all the way through the check out process. This leads me to believe that the "ban" has been lifted, but I do not see it in my Orders yet and have not received an e-mail, so time will tell. I used a gift card for the purchase and the balance has changed to reflect today's purchase. Fingers crossed!1 point

My son likes the show, too. Except when the turtles spar. He says there are plenty of bad guys to beat up instead lol.1 point

Woo-hoo! I finally got a tower bridge. $200 shipped. Now I just have to decide what to sell so I can make room for it.1 point

Segreto - if you have a KMart in your area, you may want to check it on Sunday for the vaunted 50% off clearance sales. Nationally, they had these 50% discounts last year at this time and most have Lego on sale for 20% right now. That 20% off stock may drop to 50% on Sunday...1 point

@ Darin...Nice collection. Be careful stacking boxes that way, the bottom ones will crush and bow out.1 point

I went to my brick and mortar store today to check things out and to possibly use the coupon I received in the mail. They had palpatines arrest reduced to $77, plus the additional 25% off...I still passed. They had y-wings on sale as well, which could also be stacked with the coupon to bring them down to $36...I passed on those as well ( I already have 5 or 6 of them at that price from a previous bogo sale, and its not iconic enough for me). Here is what I did buy, and I feel really good about it... 60014 coast guard patrol x4 This was priced at $65, but wasn't on sale. It was their regular price, which was weird because retail on this set everywhere else is $80. After the 25% coupon these came down to $48.74 each, which equates to a 39% discount. I bought all four that were on the shelf. 41015 dolphin cruiser x5 Retail at TRU is $70, just like everyone else in town. Tack on the 25% discount and they come down to $52.49 each. Good solid deal on a popular friends set that should be a hot commodity this holiday season. I bought all five that were on the shelf. Total purchase was 4 coast guard patrols and 5 dolphin cruisers for $482.57 after tax. Total retail on these sets is $706.76 after tax. That's a savings of $224.19, or 32%. Not too shabby for a TRU deal. I plan on hitting up another store 25 miles away later tonight to clean them out of the same sets. I think these two sets will do well, especially at these entry points.1 point

I don't know the answer to your question, but this is relatively risk-free way of expanding your resale expertise. I applaud your open-mindedness...1 point

Yeah, wasn't advertised overly well, and when he sent me the set list, I went through recent sold listings and came up with about $1700 value. It also ended at about 1:30am central time, so I threw my bid in at about 10pm and hoped it would hold.1 point

I would think. Craigslist is very dependent on the market around you though. In my town, unfortunately craigslist is crap. There are basically 0 Lego fans in my town besides me. The upside is when something pops up on Craigslist, I leave it for two weeks, then email them about lowering the price. I have gotten some really good deals out of it.1 point

Hmm, that is a tough one. No I never sit here and jot down 2 hours here, 5 hours there. I think I can easily say that I hit 20-30 hours a week if average over the course of the year. This is actual time spent working on the site and not actual time on the site. So it adds up to a few thousand hours over the past 3-4 years since I started developing it. Then there is Ed's time as well. But like some have said, I guess we know that going into it.1 point

Ditto here, if I can be of any use during the testing process please let me know. I apologize because I'm sure it gets very tiring for Jeff and Ed, but I confess it makes me chuckle when I see some posters acting that the owners of an incredibly useful site set up to put money in all our pockets might actually, you know, be interested in POSSIBLY making some money of their own for their work, time, risk, and costs. I don't always understand people, but they sure amuse the heck out of me from time to time.1 point

Hmmm...I've been debating weather or not to sell my 30 sets to him. I'd be getting about 12k, and plan on using that money to bet on the Chris Weidman UFC fight in Dec....I bet about 10k, and got back 30k on his last fight. I was about 80-85% sure he was going to win that fight. For this rematch, I'm about 90-95% confident. For any of you gambler out there, bet on Chris Weidman on Dec.28.! You'll be thanking me later. Sorry to get off the subject... Anyways, If I bet the 12k, and, when Chris wins, I'd be getting back about 25-30k, pretty much over night. That sounds a lot better to me than holding on to these sets for a couple yrs to reach that figure. And honestly, I don't really see this fight is a high risk, or even low risk. So, as of now, I'm leaning towards selling him my sets. What do yall think? In all, I plan on selling about 25-30k in legos before the fight, and bet it all on Chris. I'd be getting back about 60k, and going to reinvest that back into legos. Can't wait for Christmas! lol1 point

You charge them only for domestic shipping to the Kentucky GSP hub - eBay charges them the rest. You'll need to opt in to the global shipping program through your selling account if you haven't already, and then be sure the box on the sell your item form for the GSP is also checked.1 point

First off I'm SUPER excited about this, but I think we need to build up the MoC crowd and the general collectors on this site more... especially when the Classifieds get launched. I've always been a collector first but I feel like an outsider will view the forums as giving the backseat treatment to those who aren't investing or reselling over all else. I can't speak to how many of those people lurk here, but that segment needs to be nurtured more if there is going to be a bigger market to sell these sets to. There are a ton of people, like myself, with a certain disposable income that will buy the older sets at their correct values because they can appreciate it displayed, playing with, etc. I would love to see an expanded MoC forum, or something similar, that could bring a whole new segment of people to THIS site instead of them going to the other ones... the other sites can't compare to the data/resources here on the investing side, but if you can get those people to bring their normal LEGO discussions from their message boards to here instead, I think the Classifieds idea can take off even more. A more diverse group of people, a better marketplace. I could be completely off here, as I have zero idea about the people who lurk and don't participate in the forums...1 point

Keep in mind many non-reseller/investor Lego fans like to see what their collections are "worth" with no intent to ever sell them. The total Brickfolio value should not be considered an estimate of current/future inventories.1 point

I think Occam's Razor applies here. Lots of fun theories and questions, but the simplest explanation is probably it. They had a contest, produced a run of 20,000, and now they're done. The brains at Lego have probably already moved on to the next two or three limited edition ideas we can all get excited about in the future. Yes, they appear to be taking some steps to curb high volume resellers (or suspected resellers). But to think that they are going to rerelease 41999, a couple of months after it was released, requires a parlay of things to happen that are pretty unlikely. My 2 cents. Props to those who made money on it already. Those who are still holding, congrats, you'll probably make as much or more money in the future. Winners all around IMO.1 point

I have to disagree with this one. If a company is selling a product on thier site or in the mall and they have no restictions like ( limit 3 per customer ) like they do on their site for many sets, and i want to buy 50 to take to my local toy show thats my business. Once i buy it i can do whatever i want with it in reason, burn them, give them to charity, throw them away, sell them to my neighrbor, ect1 point
