  1. I get a variety of these a few times each month, here's today's: I am wondering why this one paperback book is costing 24.75. There must be a mistake. If not, good luck on somebody actually buying it. Just wondering, Thanks What I would have liked to respond: Dear Time-Wasting Oxygen-Wasting Numbskull - Not everything remains at its original retail price forever. Some things actually go up in value! You might find this to be true of... wait... yes, everything you ever buy. Jump in a lake. My actual response: Thank you for your interest in our pricing. Many books, like other collectibles, actually have the ability to increase in value over time, depending on their availability, printing status, edition, cover art, condition, location, and many other factors. The book in question, a relatively scarce first printing with desirable cover art from a famous author back before she was famous, of which there are only four copies on eBay. Now, mine's the highest priced by $5, but that's because I'm awesome and I'll get that.

  2. I really dont think this is an issue of being honest or dishonest. I just think it is their policy to not charge for the polybag. And this makes sense from a customer relation stand point. Take this scenario: I order a set from LEGO Shop at Home. They chose to send me a free polybag that I did not ask for. I hate the polybag and I immediately toss it in the trash or give it away or whatever. Now a week later i need to return the set i bought bc i learned the kid i bought it for already has it. If its Legos policy to subtract the cost of the polybag from my refund, they would in effect be forcing me to purchase a product that i didnt ask for nor want. Thats not right. I have returned sets to Lego stores on 3 occassions over the past few years. Never have i returned the polybag (didnt even think of it) and never have I been asked for it and never have I been charged for it. I dont consider that I was being dishonest. It certainly wasnt my intent to swindle Lego out of $15. I didnt even think about the polybags. Remember, I never asked for them.

  4. yes, yes, and a thousand more times yes! this is correct. normal shopko retail is the worst there is, but that is what makes them great for clearance shopping. they don't sell squat because their prices are way too high, so they always have plenty left over when it is time to clearance them out. the key is that you have to be there at the right time. when they run their clearance sales they do it in phases. the first clearance will be decent enough to make you consider it, the next phase is usually one that should not be passed up, but the third phase....oh the third phase. I am getting goose bumps just thinking about it. the third phase is how I got 20 weathertops for $18.50 each. 15 desert skiffs for $11 each. 31 two face chases for $22 each. 17 republic class starfighters for $15 each. 10 speeda demons for $8.50 each, etc. these deals do exist. you just have to be patient and persistent. there are five shopkos within 10 miles of my house. if I want to travel a little further(30 miles. not bad) I can hit up ten total stores. I just make a habit to check in often since they are rather unpredictable as to when and what they plan on putting on clearance. also, like I have mentioned a few times already in previous posts, the first Wednesday of every month they give seniors an extra 15% off on all of their purchases, including clearance! if you time it right and are willing to gamble, you can wait for this event and really clean up. my father has come to enjoy our lego runs, though we haven't gone on one in awhile. he sounded a little disappointed yesterday morning when I called him to let him know that the $35 TIE fighters I have been stalking for the past three months didn't get reduced further yet. there hasn't been any good clearance at shopko for a couple of months now, and probably won't be until after Christmas at this point. they have already done their resets and have the new sets in already. after Christmas though watch out, because those $50 urak hai armies will be there for the taking! I will keep everyone posted as usual when I do come across anything substantial. good luck!

  5. "Did you send it yet? Is it in the mail yet? Has it shipped yet? Is it shipped yet? Have you shipped it yet? When are gonna ship it yet? Why isn't it here yet? Have you shipped it yet? Did you ship it yet? Is it being shipped yet? Have you shipped it yet? Why aren't you shipping it yet? Haven't you shipped it yet?" Buyer's Tip for Trolls #6: Pester the holy hell out of the seller. After doing so for a certain number of times will cause your item of purchase to magically appear from your asinine rectum and smell of bran muffins with a hint of lime confirming once and for all you are a pestering little turd one finds on the bottom of their shoe with the word "D**k" written across the forehead.

  10. The 41999 scams are killing those who are trying to sell them though - so many potential buyers have their money held hostage until Ebay gives it back.

  13. Actually with the way TLG is acting these days (worthless coupon, 1 polybag per customer), I'm surprised they didn't come to your house and confiscate your promo as soon as you posted this.

  14. After reading the comments on the purchase thread about the steals at Shopko, and finding myself in a town tonight with a store, I went to check it out. And I had my dad in tow for the senior discount. I could already taste the cash. Uruk Hai Army, $50. Hulk's heli -- wait, what? Uruk ..... Hai .... Army ..... $ .... 5.....0. Then I started noticing other sets priced accordingly. I cursed a few times and stomped out. I also said something like "more criminal than tru".

  15. All these sentiments are true. Shopko retail is amazingly out of whack, but when they decide to purge stock, they will slash prices. CMF's are generally like $7 each when they get them in, for example. As stated, Uruk Hai Army is $50, guarantee any that are left by Christmas will get reduced to like $10 or $15, easy. Folks, I got a $17 Jabba's Palace at Shopko, they don't mess around. The trick is knowiing when they clearance, but I'm not even sure Shopko knows that, outside of the holidays.

  16. Even Terry and all his incredible Shopko deals has stated their 'regular' prices are absolutely atrocious and even worse than Toys R Us most of the time but when they have a sale, they go whole hog from what I have heard. I really do not know as the nearest to me is about 300 miles one way I think. The hell with that even for a great deal. Well, more power to him and the father he keeps dragging around to them. Poor old fart is worth his weight in Lego now.

  19. Ok so once you pull up the set and it gives you the online price click on the set so that it brings you to the page where you can put the item in your cart. At the bottom of this page there will be a button to add the item to your list. Do this with every lego set that you want to keep track of. Once you have created your list it will be saved and will only change if you edit it. Now hit the bottom middle button the flips the page abd brings you to store mode. Your local store should be listed on that pg. click on that store. You are now in "store mode" for your local walmart. Now hit the List button at the bottom of the pg. Your list will now appear with the prices at your local store. Now to compare other stores prices, click on any set and hit the check availability button. That should bring you to a list of nearby stores (if you want to check stores further away from u, enter the town name or zip code in the top box). Click on any store that interests you. This will bring you to the home pg for that store. Click the button that says "enter store mode". Once in store mode, repeat the process by clicking on the list button. Now the sets will show up with the prices from the new store. Hope this helps!

  20. Don't undersell on ebay! I ended up selling 4 of mine for 425, they sold in 1.5 days. All paid for. I only did that because I bought 4 while on vacation and didn't want to ship them home and risking damaging/paying extra shipping. It's like I got a free plane ticket lol. I'm keeping the rest of my stock for Xmas and will not sell for less than 500.

  23. Tied for the lowest price ever on Amazon. For the few of us who don't get tax on Amazon, it beats Target, who has Amazon has price matched. 24. Now, not in their defense at all, I do this - but I just troll people who list stuff at stupid outrageous prices. Here are some of my favorites: -Death Star 10188 listed for $1200 and as "retired". My message: "Hello, I am not interested in your Death Star, but I was wondering if you were going to list your time machine. I assume you posted this from 2035 since the Death Star is finally retired." - Jabba's Palace listed for $300 - listed as "retired and discontinued due to controversy" Mr message: " I just wanted you to know, since you have been living in a cave for the past for the past 5 months, that this set never was discontinued and is still available for around $90. Also some other things you missed: Roger Ebert and JJ Cale are dead, Michael Moore still isn't, a new batman movie come out, and the Death Star still isn't retired." - Haunted House listed for $1500 My Message: "Excuse my ignorance, but when did they start making this set out of gold?"

  25. I get this type of "why is this item priced at this price" message too often. Consumer: "Y dis item priced $20 moar than it is at x.com? is it special somehow?" Seller: "Yep. It's special because I licked it."

  29. I think the OP is really asking more of an existential question that he/she was stumbled upon while sorting through a Lego lot. To a certain extent, we all ask ourselves this question at some point... "Who am I?" You'll notice that after the post's text, there's a blank white space - a perfect metaphysical finish to the post's unanswerable question. Or maybe not...
