"List it and they will buy...." -Field of Bricks (Kudos if you get both puns.)3 points

I'm going to toot my own horn for a minute and show off the Lego table I just built for my girls. Not all the drawers are in, but there is a trough in the front with holes so they can slide all the excess Legos directly into the top drawers. It was a fun build and they like it - plus it's a little more play area than the everyday play table.2 points

Not sure why anyone would even care if they dropped the ban hammer on them anyway, there is hardly a sale on S@H or at the stores. If you get the majority of your sets from there then you are just plain silly. Exclusives can be bought with cash and there is always plenty o time to get them. Even the crawler you just had to put in the work.2 points

Yes, we have switched to mostly orthanic foods too. They are a little more expensive but I think we will be healthier in the long run.2 points

I recently met a guy at his house. We had been corresponding via texts for almost a week, but I was still nervous because I had $1200 in my car. But it was totally cool, the guy was a bigger collector than I am and we talked about toys for an hour. His wife even invited me to stay for dinner but I politely declined because my wife said I couldn't play anymore because it was dark outside.2 points

Im too lazy to track through this thread to identify the first poster who alerted everyone to this Aug. 26 wave of crawlers. Exobro perhaps? But it's much appreciated. It's contributions like that that make me really value this site and community. I would not have thought to check again this week otherwise.2 points

You should collect a bunch of mistake pieces. Then you could say: This is a tie fighter - This is a tie fighter on drugs-1 point

I agree everyone! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't being duped. On one hand, I did have a "negative" experience (ie - I did not receive my product that I paid for), but ultimately no harm was done and I'll give benefit of the doubt!1 point

I think it's critical to know exactly what your buying when dealing on CL. If you're buying new, unopened sets, check box condition and seals and know what they're worth (S@H retail and big box store retail). Your MF purchase is a perfect example - you can find this set for a discount (online or B&M), and can likely get a better deal from a TRU BOGO 50% or WM/Target clearance. These sellers allow you to return the set within a certain time period, making the purchase MUCH less risky than a CL sale. How much that risk is worth is really your call. If you're buying lots to piece together and sell on eBay/Bricklink/Brick Classifieds, you have to know EXACTLY what components in the set comprise the most value. Typically, these are minifigs, but many times there are unique or rare pieces that will cost you an arm and a leg to purchase that will really sink your investment if they're missing. Also, stickers and instruction manuals are key components that can be expensive to replace if they're not there. Like anything else, those that do their research, know exactly what they're buying, and can accurately forecast selling prices will make money. Good luck on your investing!1 point

Yes, in your example, you will earn $80 VIP points. I just looked at one of my recent receipts and this is how it was done.1 point

Ignore it completely. Almost nobody reads feedback, and those that do read only the negs and neutrals and maybe the first few positives - as soon as you get a few more positives (buy 10 cheap things you need anyway and you'll get those), that feedback is never going to be read by anybody. You CAN leave follow-up feedback, but I would never do that for a positive as it just makes it "stand out" more - but professional feedback followup to a neg or neutral can help you.1 point

Just a side question...I have noticed that some people horde their VIP points. Is there a reason? Or is it just psychological so you can save them up and "buy" an entire set? I spend them as soon as I earn them...every $5 off is $5 more in my pocket for something else.1 point

So, good news and bad news: Good news: i picked up 5 x Helms Deep ($85) 3 x Black Gate ($41.98) 1 x Pirates Ambush ($69.98) Bad news: locked myself out of my car1 point

The girls love and it gets played with almost every day. They are the regular 10x10 plates, and I used a spray adhesive. I found that is the quickest and best way to get plastic to bond with wood (unpainted), just have to be careful though because once they touch - it's pretty well stuck. After over a month of play everything is still bonded tight.1 point

Is it just me, or does battle of hoth look like a really bare bones set for $50?1 point

Honestly I don't think its a good idea at all, simply because your initial costs are too high. If you count everything in and you're selling on eBay, at $735, you'd have to sell at $865 just to break even... 865 - 86.5 (ebay fee) - (28 paypal fee) - 15 (shipping) I guess if you hold it for a while, the value could eventually to 1000 (even then you'd only make about 115 after fees/shipping). Definitely not worth the risk and tying up your funds like that. If you have to hold it for 2 years, that's about 5% return/year, even worst if you have to hold it longer. You could easily get that from stocks/bonds...1 point

Maybe not initially. If I was someone in the US I would be purchasing from a Lego store as soon as they open and listing the clone straight away. The market will be flooded with them soon enough and the price will drop. It sucks to be those people who were buying these for $100+ not long ago. I expect the VW to surpass it quite comfortably down the road.1 point

The same can be said about both the HH and TB. How much and how.fast do you think it can gain if everyone was to take emazers advice and buy 600 of each?1 point

The trooper may resell better than you think because there was only one other time that it was released to the public.1 point

I've been perusing the Star Wars offerings trying to determine the answer myself. I think Sept and Oct will be "Star Wars" buying months for me for sure - two LEGO Shop at Home freebies for every $75+, plus all those lovely VIP points, is a good deal in my book. Fortunately the Star Wars offerings are so plentiful I can look like a Star Wars fangirl (I'll wear my I Han Solo shirt whilst I order, in case Lego has finished installing those see-thru-the-internet cameras they're working on... ) and not a :::shudder::: reseller.1 point

I know right. Someone working with me drives a Lexus. My car moves just like his does and I paid 26K less for it! You know how many Lego sets that is over a 5 year loan time?!?!?1 point

Yeah. Plus since it's so accurate, we could put a large magnifying glass in front of the build, to make it look like we have the full sized thing. "Huh? Yeah. Of course I have a Volkswagen T1 Camper. See? Right there. Real thing too, and full sized!"1 point

This clone trooper is definitely how Lego should run all their promotions and exclusives. Advance release and then available to the public as an incentive to a purchase. Perfect.1 point
