  1. I made a point to be at my local Kmart this morning when they opened with the hopes that their 50% off clearance sale would be starting since their last promo ended yesterday. No dice. What they have going on now is 10% off the clearance price and then then you get 30% back in points. Not terrible, but not as juicy as the 50% off sales we all know and love. This new promo runs through 8/24, so I will be back early next Sunday morning to see if they finally go to 50%. They ran the 50% sale over Memorial Day as well as the 4th of July, so the closer we get to Labor Day is when they will probably run it. My kmart is less than a mile from my house, so i have no problem checking in often. I hope this saves some of you some time and gas. Good luck!

  2. This set was always intended to be discontinued at the end of this year. They just announced it to make it sound like they were doing the complainers a favor.

  5. I think investers stock piled this set. The market will be flooded with them after EOL. In 2 years I predict this set will be $150-200 range.

  6. As this set is fair better than the other Jabba set. I have a feeling it will increase in value. Plus as it now is not PC(God, if catholic's started bitchin about churches, and started wearing backpacks) Things would be different. There are so many nice features, an limited figures. Its a long term investment. It would be nice to see this set tripple in price. That's just my opinion, so sorry if my view is not pc, or offends anyone. I wouldn't want to upset anyone. Stomping.

  9. Terry, I continue to be jealous of your finds. Nice job on that Potter lot. My most recent CL purchase, 7228 Batman I Batwing, has provided some insight to the Used set game (on an aside, FCB has provided me tremendous help on this). First, make sure ALL the figs are there, and they are all complete and in good shape. I had to buy a vintage Batman I fig to complete 7782 set, and that little @sswipe was $20 plus shipping. I had budgeted $15 - on a set I hope to sell for $120-130, every $5 helps. Also, to echo tony - make sure all the stickers are either applied (to the correct bricks) and in good shape, or on the sticker sheet. That same set had really old, beat up stickers (with a few missing), forcing me to buy a sticker chart - another $20 down the crapper. Make sure your accessories are there as well - the Joker's henchman has 2 guns that were missing, and those things cost $6 combined. Make sure you use Bricklink to the best of its ability, by using the My Wanted List. There's a feature called "My Wanted List by Store" that will allow you to source your My Wanted List parts by store, saving tremendously on shipping costs - another underestimated cost I ran into with the Batwing lot. Shipping by lot will run you a minimum of around $2 per order, so if you have to place 5 orders, you're looking at a minimum of $10, and sometimes a lot more if you're ordering rare pieces from overseas. Finally, make sure the instructions are there. The ones you describe shouldn't be that expensive, but they add up with everything else. Good luck, and great job on the find! I really enjoy the work that goes into flipping these used lots even though it can be time consuming.

  10. OP: my gut says yes, only because you should be able to sell those fast and make a few bucks. Just make sure all stickers, accessories, etc are there. Search bricklink inventory for each set and write down the most expensive pieces and take it with you, checking for all of them. That way if you do have to find pieces you at least minimize your loss. QAR for 150 is a good price for a personal collection, not for resale.

  11. Yes definitely good deals. I would jump on these in a second. My wife really wants the harry potter sets bad. PM me if you want to quick flip them.

  12. It's not too bad, but could be better---I'd still do it though. I'm comparing to a CL purchase I made earlier this summer of Hogwart's Castle, Hogwarts, Burrow, Hagrid's Hut, and Quidditch Match---w/ all boxes, mifigs, and instructions for 120. I'm sure others have found better and worse deals out there. You can Bricklink Burrow instructions for a few bucks though. Go for it!

  18. There is no way the second latest modular house currently on the market is being discontinued before the oldest one even has. That's just insanity. If you can believe that, then here's a secret tip. Palace Cinema will be retired by the end of the year. Go buy it. I actually think Santa Claus knows more about that than any employee especially Santa Maul. He's great with firing people.

  19. Lego is in the business of making $$$, just like every other business out there. I guess the "retiring soon" posts on their site are just a way to drum up more sales on sets that were way overproduced.

  20. Not trying to be argumentative....but.... We are looking at the theme as a whole. MOST of the Star Wars sets that make up the theme are retired...unlike LOTR where over half are still on shelves, and the Hobbit that are ALL still on the shelves. I think the SW theme is just stale. I consider myself a pretty big fan...have shirts, toys, quote movies, etc. But what the heck is that Bounty Hunter Assault Ship? The Geonosian Cannon? Nope. Some random Jedi that was in the movie for 9 seconds' ship? Nope. Even the Droid Escape doesn't excite me. Tie fighter 4.0 or whatever number they are on. I am going to buy some stuff at the store on Sept 1 so I can list that Clone Trooper on Day 1...but really none of the stuff available is very exciting for me (Okay the Gunship is COOL and for some reason I really like that desert skiff...just looks pretty spot on to me).

  21. Little update for the Star Wars sets from a person close to the source. The Recruitment sets will be larger than the Planet sets' vehicles but the minifigures can't fit inside. The minifigures in the Battle Packs are from the same factions so they're pretty much an army building set.
