There used to be an awesome PEZ museum in Easton, Pennsylvania. Some of those things are worth a fortune, and some are absolutely spectacular looking.

There is no POTC that I would pick up for investment other than the 2 ships. Everything else seems to have performed extremely bad.

I think it will go the way of Kingdoms Joust...Lego still sells it as a standalone flagship set even without the rest of the line. At my lego store they've moved it to the modular buildings/kingdoms joust/tower bridge section.

I agree with you on that. I would keep the set if it was at a high enough discount like 50% off. When it comes to 30%-40% off, I would look at the set, how long it has been on the market, and many other factors to decide whether to keep it or not.

Are you returning the box fan too? If you would have found everything at 50% off I'd say keep it all, at 30%, not worth it. I think you are being smart returning it. I know many people cant find deals better than 30% off but, like I've stated before, there is just not enough meat on the bone (to quote American Pickers) to make it worth the investment unless you can get it cheaper.

Well I am happy that I just got my notification that one shipped from LEGO again. Hopefully this one does not have a hole in the box like the last one. It shouldn't I just got my polybag in the mailbox today.

I was looking at all the different reviews for these sets. I find them sort of interesting, but they are really overlooked. This may be mainly because of all the other licensed themes there are like The Hobbit, LOTR, and Star Wars. All the licensed themes relate to a movie or something like that. That is why many people recognize the set and buy it. I see this as another theme from TLG, that they thought of, just like Atlantis and Pharaoh's Quest, which are doing very poorly in the secondary market right now. Also, Star Wars is the main competition for Galaxy Squad, and we know that Star Wars is very popular, and does well in the secondary market. The other licensed themes and non licensed themes like City are some competition for the theme. People can relate to the sets in the City theme. There are fire and police stations, fire trucks and police cars, and much, much more. These are all relate-able things. I can not relate to humans fighting Aliens in space. I just can't. These sets are really overlooked by many factors from many different themes, but from an investing purpose, if those sets are overlooked, they are not popular. Popularity is a large factor in the value of a set in the secondary market. If a set is not popular, then it's value will not rise in the secondary market. If the set is not popular know does not mean that it won't be popular in the future. One person might overlook the set now, and then see it on eBay, after the set is retired, and want that set then. They would probably pay a decent amount of money to get it. If this happens, these sets are probably under the radar sets, which would make these good investments in the future. Okay. I done ranting.

I know if I see a BC listing from Barca or Akohns, I'm gonna get what I pay for. And they know that if I buy their stuff from BC, they just saved 7-8% commission fees. The forums are growing too quick for me to keep up these days, but there are still plenty of familiar faces around. Any time I can buy from or sell to a person with known character is worth whatever sacrifice I made in moving away from mass sites like ebay. A couple days of conversation is worth loads more than a feedback score. That alone makes BC enticing. Frankly I don't care about the format, tools, or fees. To me, a bit of trust is worth more.

From my experiences it seems as though when Walmart does clearance anything, the sale prices are immediate and not a gradual progression like Target usually does. On one day they can stick a set in the clearance aisle at full retail and it can stay there for months without a sale and then out of nowhere it can have a minimal 15% all the way to 50% off. For me, Walmart has been very random with their select discounts if and when they even have any. This summer's clearance sales have been extremely lackluster so far.
