  1. TRU has a 15% off promo going from 8/11 to 8/17. It includes all lego sets except for sale items (those with a list price crossed out and another price above it) and this sale includes hard to find items. The promo code is EXTRA15. Note that it is very likely that your online purchase when entered will not honor the discount. But if you call TRU at the time you are ready to place the order, they will process it correctly. If you call TRU after, they will likely give you a credit once the order processes. I went through this process and spent several hours just making sure that this promo is legit. This is actually a good deal for some sets that typically do not go on sale and if they do, they are small percent sales - like on the hard to find items. As many are aware, TRU marks up prices on some sets so the discounts aren't really discounts if you compare it to regular-priced items elsewhere. However, there are some deals this time. To name a few good deals that qualify: Death Star 399.99 Super Star Destroyer 399.99 Fire Brigade 149.99 Grand Emporium 149.99 Pet Shop 149.99 You can get all the above at 15% off. There are limited quantities (like 1 for DS, SSD, and 2 for FB and GE, and 3 for Pet Shop). The discount is applied to the entire purchase and can only be used once so for those looking to get some Hard to find items on sale, now is your chance. Just don't waste your time on those sets that are on sale as identified above (does not qualify) and those sets that are marked up like R2D2, winter village, etc (not really a good deal). Good luck! P.S. You can't combine this with other offers including the 15% for opening up a new credit card when purchasing online. If you purchase in-store, they may be able to stack offers but it will depend on who you get to process your order.

  2. Sorry, even though I know people have had problems buying from LEGO, that is about the dummies that purchase 50 Fire Brigades or other sets from LEGO. There is no way for LEGO to know who an "investor" is. There would be HUGE lawsuits and I reall don't feel that LEGO wants to kill their profits or want the bad press. I really wish you people would stop spreading this garbage.

  3. This proves nothing and a very poor example of proof. Wow. Let's see the full invoice.

  4. If you bought this set to have a really good RC car, then you are losing more and more credibility all the time. Your posts make my head hurt sometimes, sorry. This is a Lego set you know. Go to a hobby shop if you are looking for a cool gas powered truck with oil filled shocks, etc.

  6. Mine will in store - just ask the manager and a lot of times they will. Mine doesn't carry exclusives unfortunately. I am gonna go there later and see if they forgot to mark up any prices. I have some gift cards so I may be able to swing a good deal. If not, I'll call in and see if I can get a Haunted House or two for $153

  7. I had heard that they track sales as well. Let them ban me! I will buy my stuff from Walmart and Target at 30% off and make even more money. That would suck if they banned me from buying at FULL RETAIL. Plus I could just stop at Home Depot, pick up five guys, and then send them in to buy me stuff. lol

  8. I've been thinking about this too, the connection to minecraft, but there is no difference between any of those sets. were they to make more than 20,000 crawlers they'd have to change the box from "limited edition" and change the license plate. might decrease the value of the originals, but they should still hold some value. that being said...i am ready to return my 2 if the prices start to plummet.

  9. The ones in those large acrylic cases? I've heard they get thrown away into a dumpster out back or sent back to the home office. I know plenty of people have asked if they could at least purchase the displays but management said they are not allowed to be sold.

  10. I built my set yesterday and honestly I have no complaints. I love the look of it and I think it captures the essence of BTTF. No set is ever going to be perfect but the beauty of bricks is you have the freedom to modify it to your liking if you want.

  13. Lego fan builds world's longest toy train circuit out of 93,000 bricks - and it takes more than three hours to go round http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2364154/Lego-fan-builds-worlds-longest-toy-train-circuit-93-000-bricks.html I am personally not a fan. I want a townscape...some buildings etc. I guess it's kinda cool b/c that thing is HUGE but, that just does not look fun to me.

  14. I have a 4010 Police Rescue Boat which is about the same concept http://www.brickpicker.com/bpms/set.cfm?set=4010-1 The pieces on the hull are one piece as it is made that way. You may be able to get them apart but I wouldn't risk it as that would probably break it. I suggest researching into some rust cleaners and try to find one that is safe for ABS plastic. Same story on the heavy ballast brick.

  15. I have those same sets, but in a bit of a different set up - gotta love the modulars. Lego is not producing them fast enough, so i have ventured down the path of custom buildings

  18. She fleeced you indeed. It will cost you more than money to get it back My wife told me off for ordering two (I am supposedly on a buying ban). I showed her the ebay sales from the initial lots and she went very quiet. I will just sit back and see how this set goes, and move it out of the house to make sure I am not tempted to sell early.

  21. So this is really OT even for the Odds & Ends forum, but I am excited haha. Anyway, my Mom is the type of person who keeps things for a really long time, even if they are terribly out dated. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". I mean, it has been a good thing, as it taught me to think of all large purchases as an investment for the long term. Helps me save money. So, just yesterday, we stepped into the HD revolution and bought a 50" Panasonic plasma TV. I know it's entirely cliche, but the fact that I can finally see wrinkles in people's faces and notice their make-up is blowing my mind. I mean I've seen HD before obviously but mostly at like places of business where I wasn't paying attention to that stuff. Before this tv, we had two Standard Deff sets, a 19 inch that was over 20 years old, and a 27 inch that I played video games on in the basement. So although the HD revolution is long gone, I'm glad to have finally encountered it. Lololololol.

  22. In response to the power issues being discussed, I think that because of the size of the set, many people, including myself, would like to see more power. In regards to my Bionicle collection that you guys know about, the $100 Manas set was remote controlled and moved pretty dang fast. Granted they were smaller in size but the power function of the set was more impressive.

  23. I am able to check most of my sources at least once a week since they are all very close and usually on my way home from work. on top of that, I utilize this site and the great info/tips from fellow members to let me know when I may need to check somewhere that I usually don't or haven't in awhile. the current walmart clearance is a prime example. I have been cleaning up on some great super hero and lord of the rings sets lately, thanks to the tips from you guys. today I plan making a 45 mile road trip to hit up some walmarts that are in the middle of nowhere with pretty good confidence that I will find some more deals. without the tips from fellow members there is no way I would drive that far without knowing what I might find.

  24. Btw looks better than metal ones ( and cheap) ...great for rooms in your living areas...metal for basements, storage and closets only...just my opinion.
