So the other day like many people I went to the Lego Store to pick up a 4x4 truck exclusive. Ended up buying 2. No hot dog stand left unfortunately but decided to get a Friends polybag just for the free ice cream stand haha. Staff was unprepared for some reason and thought the free polybag was some kind of cup cake display...really small so I decided to put back the polybag, don't really want/need it. There was a lady in the store too with 2 young daughters and she kinda freaked out saying that's the only reason why she came in today is for the ice cream stand Guess I could understand...driving here, parking, kids are let down etc. One of the rep was calling around to see where it was or the status. Kept on apologizing to me and I told him no worries, not a big deal...stuff happens. Guess he was worried I was upset or would write a negative review on the store. He went to the back, came out and sneaked one of those chrome TC 14 polybag in my hand which was very nice, worth about $20 so a small 'discount' for my 4x4 trucks. Later on as I was walking around waiting for my wife to finish her shopping...I passed by the Lego store again and one of the reps remembered me, he said they finally found the ice cream stand and gave one to me without a Friends purchase Sweet. So 2 mini mechs, chrome TC 14 and ice cream stand as bonuses. We chatted a little bit and I told him people just need to relax...after all it's just a toy haha.2 points

Just wanted to post a pic of the Lego storage I built. Each unit is 4' wide x 2' tall. I didn't get the stain exactly the same on each one, and the drawers aren't completely uniform - you have to make sure you put it back in the same one it came from - but it works. Of course, they were both immediately full, so I guess I need to go vertical with another pair...1 point

I asked Lego UK customer service "if there would be only 20,000 of this set ever, or if there would only be 20,000 limited edition sets with possibly more non-numbered sets produced later". The important part of the reply I got is below; "Thanks for getting in touch with us. It's great to hear you're as excited about our great new LEGO1 point

You're totally right. Amazon's stock has absolutely no bearing on worldwide supplies whatsoever. If they do sell out, you'd probably be safe waiting another 6 months or so before you invest.1 point

I knew someone around here was cleaning out walmarts and targets ha ha ha.....welcome to the site!1 point

Amazon is down to less than 10 TBs. I wonder if they'll restock... Gues I better quit putting it off and pick one up soon.1 point

You could always try upping the power a little. Especially if you are happy to mod with 'non-lego' parts...... I have had my Maresk train running on 8 rechargeable AA cells for the last year or so with no problems yet (I only went this route cause the rechargeable battery box is a ridiculous $100 here + then you need the charger). Not sure where the volt limit on the receivers is but if you do go this route please proceed with caution. But either way I doubt it would be enough juice to really get this monster moving. I have not looked closely at the instructions or the build yet, but another option for more speed may be to play around with the gearing but this may not even be possible. Just remember its a crawler and in the RC world crawler means just that. Slooooooow. Sure people do build fast ones, but generally they are built to slowly get over obstacles etc. I would looooooove to see a fast(er) lego/technic truck though........1 point

That mini VW Camper is great. Now I wonder how much longer the bigger version will stick around for? Hmm.... And that is why I will never pay $100 or more for a single minifigure no matter how much I like it. If for some reason I did, I would have to be in a position of earning so much cash on a daily basis to where paying that much would quite literally be a drop in the bucket. Besides, an army builder like that would have to appear later on like this.1 point

In my opinion get it. once the village comes out people will be eating this set up.1 point

I was in a Target the other day that had the security wires on the Bug Obliterators, while a few spots down both Epic Dragon Battle and Helms Deep were wireless! Talk about clueless!1 point

Amateurs! http://www.uline.com/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?modelnumber=S-423 That's the tape we use for everything we ship. Buy a case and you get a free side load dispenser, which we also use. Using scissors and a roll of tape would make things way too cumbersome and slow. Here's numerous others dispensers that Uline offers: http://www.uline.com/Grp_16/Tape-Dispensers-Hand-Held-Guns?pricode=WG254&gclid=COrwlJ2a4rgCFSdo7AodQkMAig&gclsrc=aw.ds1 point

The box condition on this set matters more than almost any other set. I'm really hoping the one I ordered will turn up ok. By creating such a unique and special box for the set, Lego themselves have acknowledge the specialness of it. Therefore if they don't ship it well packaged and avoid damaged I think they should be responsible and even more accommodating about replacing it or making amends than they usually are.1 point

I try to ask the following questions: 1. Do they smoke or have pets. The worst collection is the dirty, nasty bucket that you have to dig through. I still buy with both of those but it gives me clues as to what the extent of the damage will likely be, clumps of nasty dog hair or fine little white cat hair in the bottom of the tub. 2. Look for Mini Figures Just watch out for mixed lots. Yesterday I bought a nice tub. Probably 30lbs for $60. Looked like some great Star Wars and Indiana Jones figures. They were all there but no sets. The tub was def a mixed lot. Like large pieces that should have mates but are stand alone. I'll still double my money but it won't be amazing. 3. Look at the colors. If you see the tons of primary colors (especially bricks) it's probably going to have a lot of bucket-O-bricks type stuff. If you see tons of blacks and grey with splashes of color I'd probably think Star Wars. If you see lots of earth tones probably themes like Kingdoms, HP, POP, Indiana Jones, etc. Most collections will have a mix of stuff but after a while you develop a 6th sense as to what will probably be in the collection.1 point

hey it's possible. And if it happens I can make a 1:1 scale tower bridge!1 point

Why would you want to return them, if you have 20 or so just keep them sooner or later they will be worth alot more, so the guys who are thinking about returning them well after you return them, next year when they are selling for $100 we hope you won't be happy about returning them. Now if you return them and buy A Few haunted Houses, Tower Bridges, Tower Of Orthanc well I am with you on that theory.1 point

For those interested in a peak behind the curtain, here's an entry from the mod handbook sent to me by Ed and Jeff: Section 4 - Moderator Etiquette The key to being an effective Brickpicker moderator is to take as many hypocritical stances as possible throughout the forums, so that members will focus more on your actions and mistakes than about our most critical mission: assimilation. The goal is to obscure - be the lightning rod to distract members from realizing their minds are being slowly modified to accept commands from the Site Creators. It is your job, as a moderator, to help the assimilation process in any and every way possible. Whatever you do, don't tell Jeff and Ed I leaked this. If they find out, I'm done for. If you don't hear from me in a few days, you'll know what happened...1 point

I still have this floating boat somewhere in my parent's attic: Not sure if it's larger but as you can see, the hull is made out of 5 separate hollow pieces. Also note that the boat in the picture above doesn't float. You need to attach the extra weight pieces underneath to stabilise it in the water.1 point

The Ewok Village and Death Star are not UCS sets. I can see both the SSD and B-Wing going soon, but probably the SSD first, it's get rarer for me to find locally.1 point

I always try and give you guys the lastest scoope on anything I hear, My friend thats gives me this info along with that 2013 wholesale order form told me the SSDS, Tower Bridge, Fire Brigade are retiring. And there is a chance the Haunted House is done also, but not 100% Confirmed yet. "And with the new Summer 2013 Catalog that just came in the mail today, Well that about confirms it. The SSDS,Tower Bridge, and Fire Brigade are not listed. So if you don't have any Tower Bridges & SSDS I would not wait forever, Hopefully Lego will have a SSDS Black Friday Sale cheap, but as me and my son both got a catalog with a 10% Coupon I will be going to the Lego store in a few days and get 2 more Tower Bridges, plus I have 2 20% Coupons to use with it, I am waiting for a sale for more SSDS, and these will be big bucks in a few years, and i have plenty Fire Brigade's. And all you guys that wished you would of gotten alot of the Dubai, Statue of Liberty, Eiffel Tower's etc sets well don't screw up on the Tower Bridge. A well Known landmark will do very very well. "And about the Haunted House Retiring, well I am buying one or 2 a month, so in case in goes all of a sudden I will have plenty, I also have 13 SSDS, 21 Tower Bridge's, 17 Fire Brigades. "AND THE B-WING IS IN THE SUMMER CATALOG, AND MY FRIEND ALSO SAID THE DEATH STAR IS HEAR FOR ANOTHER YEAR." Still 6 months in the year and anything can change but this is the latest scoop. Ed1 point

This list is sweet! I've always wanted to collect them all, but it would probably be so hard going back and getting all of the earlier sets, maybe I will some day though. How often is a new series released?1 point
