  1. FORUM RULES, REGULATIONS, FACTS AND ETIQUETTE: BE RESPECTFUL: Brickpickers enjoy this site for a variety of reasons, but primarily because it provides a safe, non-threatening environment to share their LEGO investing thoughts. Attacks on fellow BrickPickers will not be tolerated. No bullying, flaming, stalking or discrimination will be allowed. KEEP ON TOPIC: Try to keep threads on topic. Hi-jacking threads on purpose is tacky and frowned upon. NO ILLEGAL OR QUESTIONABLE ACTIVITY: Please refrain from posting ideas that could be considered illegal or unethical in nature. This is one way to get banned and have your content erased. NO SPAM: Forums are meant to be fun and entertaining, keep them free of spam and nonsense. COLORED text is reserved for the Moderators: To help with the readability of the forums, please do not use colored text - it is reserved for use by the Forums moderators. NO NECROPOSTING: If a thread has not had a new post in several months, do not post in that thread. This is called "necroposting" and is disruptive to the community as it takes focus away from newer, more active threads. The only exception to this rule is when you want to post strong support for an item in one of the Suggestions forums or you think that an older topic is relevant to today's topics. MEMBER NAMES AND AVATARS: All member names and avatars must be tasteful and acceptable to all members, young and old. If you think something could be interpreted in a sexual, perverse, or obscene way...DO NOT USE IT! You will be asked to change it. If you fail to do so, you possible could be banned from the site. Use common sense here...please. AVOID CONTENT FREE POSTS: Posting a "+1", or "me too", or simply quoting a previous post with no original content or discussion is to be discouraged. Use the green "Vote up this post" reputation button if you agree with something a member has posted. Better yet, add some of your own thoughts to the discussion. SEARCH BEFORE YOU POST: Try to search for a topic before creating a new thread to see if it already has an active discussion. Take notice of the "Similar Topics" list that pops up after entering your Topic Title. Do we really need another B-wing thread? The moderators will merge topics where possible but it helps keep the forum tidy and discussions in one place if we can minimise duplicate topics. NO POLITICS: This is a LEGO Price Guide and investment site. People should keep their political opinions to themselves, or share them on another message board. NO OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE or OBSCENE CONTENT: Posts containing offensive language or vulgar videos and pictures will be deleted. Let's keep the forum rated PG. NO ADVERTISING: Most BrickPickers have items to sell, but the forum is not the place to advertise them. Brick Classifieds is being developed to buy, sell and trade sets and there spots on the site which you can purchase advertising space for personal stores and the like. NO DOUBLE POSTING: If you've already posted a message, and no other users have posted one after you, do not post again! This is called 'Double Posting'. Simply edit your current post, and add on to it. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it soon enough. POSTS MUST BE READABLE: If you like to write your posts in the style of a text message (no capitalization or punctuation) your posts will probably be deleted. GRAMMAR & SPELLING: If your spelling is atrocious, resulting in posts that are hard to read, your posts will probably be deleted. If you continue to post in violation of this rule, your will be warned, and your account may be suspended. Oh, and your posts will probably be deleted. NO "First Post" POSTS: Just because you're the first to respond to a thread, do not post: "First Post!" or "WOOT First Post!". It does not matter if your post is the first or last in a thread; what does matter is the quality of your post. NO PLAGIARISM: Post only your work on this board. If something you have created was specifically inspired by or uses in part the work of others, be sure to credit them. Any member who posts the work of others as their own will be immediately banned from this board. NO POST/TOPIC SPAMMING: Do not post the same topic and/or post in multiple forums. We realize sometimes this happens within the same topic due to technical issues but other than that this is strictly prohibited. Any issues with members should reported to the Moderators, Jeff or I. Don't fight it out in the forum. Please notify Jeff or I directly with any technical, data or site issues or errors. There are support icons throughout the site...or PM us. 2. just saw this thread. otherwise I would have answered it earlier. We went to almost all free lego builds (lego store, toysrus, and others). I just took a photo of the back of the instruction that lists all the pieces and how the finished product looks. I think I know what it is! it is the Chima set Toysrus gave out the past Saturday.

  3. +1!! (Kidding, kidding, just kidding... ) Seriously, though, I've moderated forums in the past and it can be like herding cats. This is a great site and I appreciate what you all do to keep it that way.

  4. For those interested in a peak behind the curtain, here's an entry from the mod handbook sent to me by Ed and Jeff: Section 4 - Moderator Etiquette The key to being an effective Brickpicker moderator is to take as many hypocritical stances as possible throughout the forums, so that members will focus more on your actions and mistakes than about our most critical mission: assimilation. The goal is to obscure - be the lightning rod to distract members from realizing their minds are being slowly modified to accept commands from the Site Creators. It is your job, as a moderator, to help the assimilation process in any and every way possible. Whatever you do, don't tell Jeff and Ed I leaked this. If they find out, I'm done for. If you don't hear from me in a few days, you'll know what happened...

  5. So much speculation but from a business point of view.. Why would they make more? They have a current rock crawler that would get crushed if they made more. This will drive sales on they're current line. I believe nobody has a legit "source" for any info. It's the Internet come on... I follow my hunch, and it says this set will be gone forever after the 20k.

  7. AND THE WINNERS OF THE 2013 BRICKPICKER BLOG WRITING CONTEST ARE... After reviewing all the articles and blogs that were submitted for the 2013 BrickPicker Blog Writing Contest, Jeff and I came to the conclusion that three members deserved the First Place prize of a $200 LEGO Gift Card(or similarly priced LEGO set)...and they are: Donotinsertinmouth Fcbarcelona101 Quacs There will be no Second or Third place prizes, only two honorable mention prizes of $50 each to Grolim and Comicblast. All 5 members who won a prize wrote at least twice as much as their nearest competitors and their article quality and creativity was excellent. There are still multiple blogs that have to be posted, one in particular, stands out. It is a 50,000+ character collaborative creation by Fcbarcelona101 and Quacs that introduces people to the BrickPicker site. This article will have a special location on the site so all new members can check it out. So, all in all, fantastic job people. It's been a long contest, but I think the results were worth the effort. Don't stop writing them though, remember, you still get copious amounts of BrickPoints to use in the Brickpoints Store for writing blogs and LEGO set reviews. Will the 5 winners please PM me with their addresses and choice of LEGO Gift Cards or similarly priced LEGO sets and we will get those out to you in the next several days. Thanks.. Ed

  8. I was going to but $25 is no horsing around money. If it was $10, I would have. Then I would have resisted it on eBay as "Lego Death Vader from Lord of the Rings w/ Mr. Ed. complete"

  9. I do have 6 back to the Future sets thats all i am getting. About buying mostly bigger Sets thats what I been saying, The Tower Bridge, haunted House, Batman Arkham, SW Ewok Village, Tower of Orthanc, I could name more but invest thousands in these sets and you will have made yourself a big bundle of money, Now I don't mean 2 haunted House, 2 Tower Bridges, I mean like 10 or more of each. The more the better, I don't have 50 Tower Bridges yet like Starpod, but I do have 22 of them and 33 haunted Houses and buying more each month along with the others. So a few 4x4 Crawlers is Ok, but buying lots of them I would not do it.

  11. I got one at my store just now, even if I have doubts about the long term appreciation. FYI, they would only give me 100 for one of my sealed B-wings, so I said forget it.

  12. Mine craft is simple. They produced it and never expected it to be as popular as it was. So they made more. With this I have a feeling it'll Be just the 20,000 and then it's back to the original crawler if you want one. Or pay a premium for it

  13. From here: http://www.lego.com/en-us/technic/technicfan/blog/2013-1hy/exclusive-sneak-preview/ Truly limited edition With only 20,000 available worldwide and with every model featuring an individually numbered license plate, this is a fantastic chance to own something both exclusive and unique!

  14. The difference between this set and the other previous sets is there is still the regular crawler available. It is extremely difficult to say whether or not this will see another run. It's only day 1, and we don't know how big our masses are. I think it is entirely possible that we as investors buy 10-20% of this set, but still that is only 2000-4000 sets. Hardly overwhelming and worthy of another run. I also don't see people clamoring over this set until Christmas time when they start to do some research on different sets.

  15. I don't think there is any concrete evidence for this, but there certainly is precedent. People are speculating that once the 20,000 sets are done, TLC could re-release this set without the limited edition license plate. There is no guarantee of this - at this point it's merely speculation. As Spener says, if this set is re-released, TLC will likely tweak the box graphics and throw license plates with "41999" on it instead of the LE number. That said, they did this with the 10179 - they released a limited edition with a COA, and then re-released the set without a COA. Everything else was the same. I believe COA versions go for slightly higher prices than non-COAs, but the difference isn't huge. Yet, at the price the 10179s are selling for, who cares...

  16. Looks like it did happen...............demand for this set went beyond anyone's (and especially TLG's) imagination. I have to think this site was a huge contributor to the effect. Lego is going to have to do some serious changes in their business planning to account for the investors and resellers.

  18. Wait a min. Amazon is selling this also. I rather buy from there. Limit is 5. They also have over 999 units in-stock. http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-21103-DeLorean-Machine-Building/dp/B00DQC2FPM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375351363&sr=8-1&keywords=lego+back+to+the+future&tag=brickpickpicker-20

  22. Ouch, my geek heart goes out to the Lego tech team, who are undoubtably fire-fighting right now. I placed my order but the checkout process couldn't retrieve my VIP points status, nor can I see my order history. Looks like their customer database is browning out. I'm planning to hit the stores in the morning to scrounge for more. Based on the recent forum activity, I think I'll pay in cash.

  25. I ordered 2 in my name with my VIP membership And ordered two in my wife's name with her credit card as a guest, both went through. I guess we will see what happens, I think wanting to build all three ways is a fair complaint if they cancel, I think the limit should have been three

  26. will you get the 3 sets out and take a look at the barcode area? There is a tiny 5 digit number below the number 6 of the barcode on the lower left. I would like to know if they are different in each box or they are the same. this is the only number I can see that can be the unique number. I asked a few times in different threads. I hope someone can provide the answer. I have not got the chance to go to the lego store to check, and I only have one in hand. Thanks.

  28. The only thing I can think of adding to the great list above is a section about moderators/administrators and what they do on the forums/site. Otherwise the list is insightful for newer members and older members alike.

  30. That's why I use tools like CCleaner; they clean up all that hidden junk data. At home, I'm still using a PC from 2004 and the system works better now than before thanks in part to these kinds of software.

  34. We can do this and add a button to where people can say "Yes, this was the correct answer" and the person with the "right" answer can get bonus brickpoints. I don't want to deal with giving people money. Individuals can do that privately on their own.

  37. You can thank Steve Jobs / Apple for the big screen. Just a few years ago the trend was to produce smaller and smaller mobile phones. Apple came along with original iPhone, and boom all the sudden every phone has to be as wide as TI-95 calculators. Btw, ph4tb0i, enough with typing +1 and embrace the new(ish) forum platform :D

  38. What the heck? Has anyone done the math...4 million dollars worth? Did it in my head...didn't seem right..sure enough. 4 million in revenue for just this set issue. They will all be sold...quickly I am betting. At least this might give us an idea to extrapolate how many of each set they print..by watching how fast....or slow...it takes the market to soak up 20k of these. It's not much...since it's a collector's edition and "rare"....and not a popular theme....but it will be a very rarely given data point into how many they print and sell in how much time.
    1 point
  39. Didn't sound rude at all. I was just correcting your numbers. Very few people can find 79007 at $40. $52-55, sometimes with sales. $58 after credit card bonuses is normal. With that said, your profit numbers are too optimistic. I can tell you you'll get $70-75 after fees ($75 if you have 20% off FVF). I've sold many sets so I know these numbers down to the penny. So, yes if you get it for $40+3 in tax = $43 less $70 is more like $28 at best for a lot of work. BUT....most of us can't find them at $40, so it's kind of irrelevant. Most pay $10-15 more, cutting it down to $13-18 profit for a ton of work shipping out a lot of stuff and multiple trips to the post office. Still profit, and yes, at $40 I'd snap them up too. We all know about PP/eBay fees, but they are far more agressively cutting into total sales lately and that now includes fees on s/****.

A few more plus ones, me toos, I agrees, cat pictures and you tubes...And ill be there! ;^)

  45. Sorry gents, going to come in here and change all your hopes and ambitions by saying the next theme should be Zombie Survival. Zombie minifigs. ( Will ALWAYS be popular) Survivor minifigs with reversable heads for after they get infected. Wrecked/Dilapidated buildings (Think what they did with the HH and that fire set with the charred roof, only expanded) Pistols, axes, crowbars, chainsaws, etc. Basically everthing you see in other City sets, avoiding the military weaponry pitfall. Customizable barricades (Tvs, chairs, furniture, wrecked cars, etc) Modular-esque so you can collect them and build a sprawling, linked zombie infested city scene. Possible Zombies vs. Survivors play function or video game tie-in, where purchases can be uploaded or provide characters, etc for the game. Zombies.

  46. Weird story. I'm alone in my house. I was looking at the Amazon VW on my phone. Placed the phone down on my bed with the VW screen pulled up. Jumped in the shower. Just got out of shower to find an order confirmation page for the VW! Bottom line -- my phone doesn't even need me anymore to order Legos!!! Should I be scared????
