  1. FORUM RULES, REGULATIONS, FACTS AND ETIQUETTE: BE RESPECTFUL: Brickpickers enjoy this site for a variety of reasons, but primarily because it provides a safe, non-threatening environment to share their LEGO investing thoughts. Attacks on fellow BrickPickers will not be tolerated. No bullying, flaming, stalking or discrimination will be allowed. KEEP ON TOPIC: Try to keep threads on topic. Hi-jacking threads on purpose is tacky and frowned upon. NO ILLEGAL OR QUESTIONABLE ACTIVITY: Please refrain from posting ideas that could be considered illegal or unethical in nature. This is one way to get banned and have your content erased. NO SPAM: Forums are meant to be fun and entertaining, keep them free of spam and nonsense. COLORED text is reserved for the Moderators: To help with the readability of the forums, please do not use colored text - it is reserved for use by the Forums moderators. NO NECROPOSTING: If a thread has not had a new post in several months, do not post in that thread. This is called "necroposting" and is disruptive to the community as it takes focus away from newer, more active threads. The only exception to this rule is when you want to post strong support for an item in one of the Suggestions forums or you think that an older topic is relevant to today's topics. MEMBER NAMES AND AVATARS: All member names and avatars must be tasteful and acceptable to all members, young and old. If you think something could be interpreted in a sexual, perverse, or obscene way...DO NOT USE IT! You will be asked to change it. If you fail to do so, you possible could be banned from the site. Use common sense here...please. AVOID CONTENT FREE POSTS: Posting a "+1", or "me too", or simply quoting a previous post with no original content or discussion is to be discouraged. Use the green "Vote up this post" reputation button if you agree with something a member has posted. Better yet, add some of your own thoughts to the discussion. SEARCH BEFORE YOU POST: Try to search for a topic before creating a new thread to see if it already has an active discussion. Take notice of the "Similar Topics" list that pops up after entering your Topic Title. Do we really need another B-wing thread? The moderators will merge topics where possible but it helps keep the forum tidy and discussions in one place if we can minimise duplicate topics. NO POLITICS: This is a LEGO Price Guide and investment site. People should keep their political opinions to themselves, or share them on another message board. NO OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE or OBSCENE CONTENT: Posts containing offensive language or vulgar videos and pictures will be deleted. Let's keep the forum rated PG. NO ADVERTISING: Most BrickPickers have items to sell, but the forum is not the place to advertise them. Brick Classifieds is being developed to buy, sell and trade sets and there spots on the site which you can purchase advertising space for personal stores and the like. NO DOUBLE POSTING: If you've already posted a message, and no other users have posted one after you, do not post again! This is called 'Double Posting'. Simply edit your current post, and add on to it. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it soon enough. POSTS MUST BE READABLE: If you like to write your posts in the style of a text message (no capitalization or punctuation) your posts will probably be deleted. GRAMMAR & SPELLING: If your spelling is atrocious, resulting in posts that are hard to read, your posts will probably be deleted. If you continue to post in violation of this rule, your will be warned, and your account may be suspended. Oh, and your posts will probably be deleted. NO "First Post" POSTS: Just because you're the first to respond to a thread, do not post: "First Post!" or "WOOT First Post!". 3. People will believe or not believe that the raffle was fixed, but I have seen first hand when a LEGO store hasn't properly handled a contest they were running. The contest involved filling out a postcard to be randomly selected to win a prize ( I don't remember the prize) and there was one winner per store. The prize was still in the store years later as they never picked a winner. Now is this a big deal? Not really, but at the same time it isn't cool to advertise some prize and then never actually give the prize away.

  4. Hello! I'm Kaylee (BrickBabe) and I have just started my LEGO investing adventure! I am (unfortunately ) ExoBro's girlfriend. After seeing him get reacquainted with LEGO and hearing about what he is doing with them, I decided to get in on this scene. We've been working together to hit up different stores and find good deals. Over the last week while he has been at work I've been stopping at the LEGO store every morning to see if they had any BTTF or Crawler sets. We've been able to get a bunch of BTTF sets. I guess I was lucky because my collection started with the Arkham Asylum set when it was on sale at Amazon. I look forward to posting here and getting to know you guys!

  6. There sure is a dearth of humor in some of our lives. It would make a lego investor "laugh so hard" if lego performed a distribution supply move detrimental to lego investors? Another member thought it was would be hilarious if orc forge production was resumed to burn investors who already invested in the set. Hmm....I usually watch the marx brothers or larry david for my humor---I don't really understand this weird lego humor some of you speak of.

  7. I'm with you guys. The returning and buying from scammers makes me embarrassed to even be associated with this stuff. Believe it or not, these actions get noticed by TLG. Supporting these kinds of activities doesn't make our lives any easier dealing with TLG or our future buyers.

  8. So earlier today, I'm in a boring meeting and decided to search eBay. I tripped on this auction. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEGO-Star-Wars-Darth-Vader-On-A-Horse-Minifig-Minifigure-/251313366074?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item3a8371a43a I love it. The pic and description are fabulous. "Why is Darth Vader on a horse?: One of our ToyBurg employees was recently looking at a Lord of the Rings LEGO set which contained a Ringwraith (black hood, black cape) on a horse. After looking at it for a moment she was heard to exclaim, "Oh, I didn't know Darth Vader had a horse." So naturally, we couldn't resist creating this listing so someone could own their very own Darth Vader on a horse. Feature 1: This minifigure has not been used. Feature 2: Includes everything seen in the picture above. Also includes filler blocks for when the saddle is not in use. Saddle is not included. Darth Vader rides bareback."

  9. I agree, great rules to follow. Everyone likes Forums that stay free of garbage and are kept up to date. It`s less effort as well just to follow a set of solid rules, rather than post spam and such. Just a waste of space and effort IMHO to go out of your (generally speaking) way to cause issues for everyone else. I think most know this in the back of their minds already, but after reading through these I felt like putting it down. Still surprises me that people still do these kinds of things with little/no thought to common sense. Regardless, I`m grateful to have this post for reference, thank you!

  12. You don't leave a quote when they report. As I said before, if you don't like what we are doing, leave the thread please. Go back to not caring as things get worse as worse. I must be right a lot because most of these have been taken down shortly after I posted them here. They are in my watch list.

  15. Most people have been saying in the Technic 4x4 Crawler thread is they speculate midnight (12:00 am EST), but nobody really knows for sure. My day kinda sucks so far. It's raining and I had to stop at 7-11 for coffee, since I was short on time. I am eating at cinnamon Pop-Tart though, so things are looking up.

  17. Good luck getting the money from USPS after filing insurance claim. When it was near impossible to get the money when you PAID for insurance, getting the money from free insurance is going to be a walk in the park... ....if your park is located in worst part of Detroit

  23. How old are your kids? He will obviously know soon enough...that was the point to my wife...show him now and make it magical...or show him when he is 6 or 7 and it probably won't be a big deal. Just afraid to disappoint him that he can't open them...and that they aren't his. We as parents all know that won't happen..very hard to say no to little kids. It could get really expensive. Although...perhaps not. He is already lego spoiled and has most of them anyways. And he wouldn't want to open many of them..all the big sets don't really interest little kids. Well...I know it would at least cost me an asylum and a haunted house. The vws, bwings, town halls, fire brigades and lotr wouldn't interest him at all. Well....ok....it would cost me a helms deep too...and a ranger train....and a passenger train...ok .....never mind....my wife is right! Too soon!

  30. Not on the upgrades. You are the full system itself. The upgrades are literally adding a bigger harddrive. I have upgraded a MAC myself for someone. Takes 5 seconds. Other companies charge $50 to do it. Apple charges $300. Has nothing to do with Design or Complete package. Apple buys all their stuff from the same 3 or 4 component makers as everyone else.

  32. I was at SDCC and got a whole set of Super Heroes. I believe, without question, that the raffle was rigged. I don't think they only gave them to kids, but it was kid-heavy and they were intentionally trying to prevent groups from getting multiples. The whole process was very fishy. If they want to hand them to kids, fine, do that. But don't have a fake raffle. Not to mention the fact that SDCC is an adult event if they want to promote the product to kids, do it a place where the children are in mass.

  33. I suspect half a set per family, and you will need to mail them an original copy of your family tree before they let you order....SMH lego, these limits are starting to get out of hand.

  34. Same last name as 2.5 million others in the USA. Same goes for the last name "Johnson", with 2 million people. I don't see how LEGO can assume that you live in the same household as someone, just because you have the same last name, and happen to be the same race. What is LEGO turning into?!
    1 point
  35. It is sad because they rigged it. A raffle should be random, not predetermined. I have no problem with giving them to kids, just do not make it like anyone could win then pick the winners. It just seems wrong.

  40. I hardly ever leave feedback...for the reason stated...as buyer. As seller of course I leave feedback every time..but I don't expect my buyers to leave me feedback. It's an auction. I want to pay the absolute least amount if money, and the seller want the absolute highest figure. In economics this is called a necessarily adversarial confrontation. It is in the truest sense an argument. A disagreement of value. We come to an understanding and trade of our own volition, but I wouldn't expect to be friends and do favors for the other side. Think of a car purchase. You want to pay the least, dealer want the most. Even though you both agree to a price under no duress, in the back of your mind you still feel screwed..and wonder if you were ripped off. The dealer couldn't stand you and your damn invoice and website car buying talkin points he knows by wrote from listening to them 7 times a day. Take that mining truck you all see there I purchased. I got an ok deal at 37 bucks shipped...but in the back of my mind I feel dumb because i am sure the guy got it at target clearance for 20 bucks since he had 12 of them. I don't hate him...I don't envy him...I don't wish he bought one and left the others for the children in orphanages. He was the better businessman that day..he won our disagreement. I paid more for the same exact truck than he did. More power to him..but I am not going out of my way to salute the transaction. Well...until you folks negative'd me 10 points. Fine..I'll play the feedback game. When in Rome.

  41. I plus one'd you Jaison. Take some nyquil, and have the wife go on kid patrol---you need a nap! I'll text you if any good deals pop up! You guys inspired me---going to leave feedback for my last 10 purchases. Right now. I'll bring evidence if I can get a few plus ones to even out my rep.

  43. Really - you think it's that simple? So is the safe number 49,48,47...? What if it is a ratio of exclusive sets to non? What if it is your spend relative to others in your area and demographic? What if its something else? You see, that is what we need to know otherwise many people risk getting black listed from lego. Again, I didn't order 50 at once. I have purchased 50 over the life of the set and never once exceeded the max limit of 5 per order. Being black listed will affect my bottom line. I love lego. My kids love lego. But I'm not here on this thread as a fan. I am here as business person who is trying to maximize return on investment. I'm sure I am not alone in this regard. Input like "LOL don't buy 50" or "don't pay shop at home retail" is really not helpful to anyone in the community. In the end we are all competitors to some extent but I appreciate the sharing here on the site. I am glad that my thread has generated so much discussion. I will certainly keep folks updated as things progress with my account, since this first email is perhaps just a warning. This isn't just lego direct either as emes has explained. My friend is banned from buying ninjago golden dragon sets from Amazon. He is also banned from Staples. Evil resellers everywhere not just lego...

  45. They aren't for sale. They've had various ways of distributing them over the years, but last year they only gave them away on one day (at the LEGO booth) and they scanned your badge during the morning then at some time they list all the winners and the booth becomes a massive prize redemption area. With this method only one per person since entries are attached to your badge. And you won a single random character, not the whole set of 4. They were also available at the DC and Marvel booths for doing certain things like playing game demos or similar type things.
