A year ago I found a second hand 10190 Market Street and bought it for $80 Australian. I sold it on ebay the next day for $800, which with the exchange rate at the time was a bit more than $800US2 points

It is better that we can build our own like that, as opposed to outrageously rare minifigs that we want but will never have.2 points

I hope you got to build one!! As for my collection of Superman sets: They are currently in my room, but I want to find a better place to display them.2 points

Nice!! That is a sweet looking model. I think all of the past snow speeders were better versions than the one out now/released in the past couple years. I have the minifig scaled one from 1999/2000.2 points

Why does this $40 set have printed bricks and my $120 Camper has a sticker VW emblem?? Shenanigans!!2 points

That box is awful. You'll never sell it like that. Tell you what, cuz I'm a nice guy, I'll buy it off you for what you paid. I'll even cover shipping, too. Really I don't see any other way you'll recoup your losses here B)2 points

Missed up your childhood? We're not talking about George Lucas and his recent Indy and 3 SW movies.1 point

That's $73 US dollars. If that set was that expensive in the U.S. then I would never buy it. I wonder if you could get it shipped from somebody in the U.S. for a cheaper price?1 point

The short answer is yes, there are "too many" Lego investors. But as others have said, a lot of these guys are looking for a quick buck and/or don't know what they're doing. The market will weed them out eventually. I am more bummed with just the constant rehash of sets, which renders more and more "new" sets as not worth stocking up on. In a way, that is inevitable when the SW license keeps getting renewed, but it would just be nice if Lego could be a bit more creative with their remakes.1 point

very true. Technic MOC'ers have done some wonderful stuff to improve the functionality and motorization functions of some of the stock Technic sets. I don't think Lego designers take the time or they lack the necessary engineering skill to design the sets correctly right out of the gate.1 point

I can tell you that not all sales and clearances are put into the add. I don't think that going every week is going to be worth it, but checking often during the after-Christmas clearance and Summer clearance is a great idea. In between these times, the effort can be draining, and usually not worth it, from my own experiences. To answer your second question, Targets clearance and mark down items on Thursdays. I don't know about Walmarts or TRU's though. Also just out of curiosity, does anyone go "clearance" shopping at TRU?1 point

I have this 4x4 base plate that I signed my name on with a Sharpie. I bet you that is pretty rare, as in the only one in the world. That is unless I decided to sign my name on some other bricks1 point

They take off the 20%VAT that's already included in the prices advertised. If you retract the VAT again, you have to take off 1/6th. Let's say the price advertised is1 point

Looks like you can mix it up too and still get the full 15%, if you can't drop a ton of cash on 3 AAs. 2 Catwoman and 1 AA will do the trick too.1 point

Every store is diff. Amazon and Target are easy and fine online. Target requires an email while the other has you upload the certificate directly. HomeDepot.com is easy like Amazon. Target & Lowes stores require you to bring in the cert. Lowes is a one-time deal (they keep a copy of your cert) while Target requires it for every visit I have not tried TRU (i rarely shop there) and would never try in a lego store.1 point

I have a reseller certificate in my state, When buying inventory from Amazon, Target, Walmart, and Yoyo, they honor my resales / tax certificate. When I buy other items for my business, stores like Lowes and Home Depot do the same. I'm very careful to only use my resale certificate for biz use. It is a pain splitting my orders but if I not and i'm audit, I'll be doomed. My rationale...sooner or later, we'll all be required to lay sales tax. eBay is the only giant web site left not charging sales tax since they have zero warehouses.1 point

Nice score--they let you keep the spider wire---or did you run out the store with it like that?1 point

Original theme song all the way! Fun Trivia = The co-writer of the 1987 theme song was Chuck Lorre, creator of Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory! EDIT - The most recent theme pays homage to the original, so it gets points for that at least.1 point

I guess the phucking hurricane blew through and the weather cleared. He has tons of sets listed again--many already sold to idiots like me. I hate thieves! Nothing I can do either---since he set the ship 10 14 days advanced. I can't complain--but once I get my money back--he will get a "nice" review. http://www.ebay.com/sch/scrooge1234/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2654-1 points
