Well he is just trying to keep the forum organized. If everyone just comes in and posts the same topic over and over, that really isn't helping the website. So a quick search is good forum etiquette. Also if you post in a thread that was started, those people may get notified and respond to you as well.

Yeah I see that now thanks. This probably needs to be part of that thread, anyways my vote is no, this rule is in place to protect kids from kidnapping pedophiles. Not saying that this guy was one but no need to take chances. There usually one day a month that the parks let adults in w/o kids so if he was that intent on going be could have done that.

I will break it down this way, since I see it the way some of the other guys do. I have bolded the areas of your text I want to talk about, because we obviously see the world in much different eyes. You're 19, I'm 36. I have 2 kids, ages 7 and 3. Just giving demographics, nothing more. A. A company can have any rule they want, it's their business to do what they want if they deem it appropriate. There are obvious reasons why they have this rule, and we all know why they have this rule, no sense putting our heads in the sand about pedophiles. B. Every theme park in the United States discriminates against a portion of their patrons. Ever see the little sign that says you have to be "this tall" to ride the really cool ride your parents paid to bring you in to ride? That's discrimination. Pure and simple, it is discriminating against young patrons because it would be unsafe for them to ride the ride. Is it unfair for the kids?? C. Yes, everything about your entire life and mindset changes when you have children. You are not thinking about yourself anymore, you are thinking about the well being of your children. 24/7. If not, you are not being a parent. D. It's an attraction that is dedicated to a children's toy. Yes, it is a hotspot for pedophiles, it's why the rule is in place in the first place. Just because Chuck E. Cheese doesn't have this policy doesn't make it wrong. E. You want to know a place that draws attention to pedophiles that children go to everyday??? School. It is a real problem and I think you are letting your love of Lego cloud your judgement. I don't want to bang on you about this, but it is personal to everybody here that has kids. I don't give a rat's ass if this person was sad because they couldn't go look at Lego with their grown child. It is the rule. If it keeps just a single child in the world from getting abused, then the rule has done it's job. END OF STORY.

TLG better realize that policies need to be changed for AFOLs without kids in a LEGOLAND situation. It's really no different than going to Disney or a Six Flags. Before we had our son Max, I never once thought I needed a kid to go to Disney World, but now after hearing this, I cannot believe people can be so biased against older people without kids. There are days when having no kids is a huge blessing! LOL

One thing for sure, the minute TLG mentions a new version of Black Pearl is the time to dump your stock of current Black Pearls.

It's been about 10 years since I lived in that part of town, so the memory about restaurants around there is a little hazy... For breakfast, Ann Sather is awesome - the cinammon rolls and Eggs Benedict (they have about 5-6 different kinds) are both great. Their waffles are killer, too. For dinner, if you don't mind a short cab ride (10 minutes at the most) head to Tango Sur, an Argentine steak house that's really good. I used to live in Wicker Park, and there are hundreds of great restaurants there. You're probably looking at about a 15 minute cab ride to the heart of Bucktown/WP (North/Damen/Milwaukee intersection). If you don't mind going downtown, try The Girl and the Goat - the new restaurant from Stephanie Izard, Top Chef winner. I went with my wife a few weeks ago and it's phenomenal. You can't go wrong with Rick Bayless' restaurants (Frontera Grill, Topolobambo or Xoco) either. If those don't suit your fancy or are too far out, check this website out: http://checkplease.wttw.com/ It is the website for a Public TV show that reviews local restaurants. It's excellent for finding great, off-the-beaten path restaurants in any part of Chicago and its suburbs. Have fun in Chicago!

If you walk north on sheffield, a block before the sheridan el stop will be a bakery on your right called Artemio's. not a restaurant/bar, but they have amazing fresh pastries for super cheap and it's close to wrigley

I would probably be in a fight in about 10 seconds if this happened to me at work. Yes we do, this is fairly certain. As a parent, I try very hard to not over-protect my children, but it is very hard when you see the crap on the news at night. Probably the main reason I rarely watch it anymore. That, and MLB TV. We are lucky to live in a very nice neighborhood in a nice town where this doesn't happen much, but it's still out there, and you must always be careful with your children. The one time you were wrong, you would never forgive yourself. I know as a kid, we would ride our bikes to the next town, swim out too far in the ocean, play on the railroad tracks, you name it. My parents tell me all the time how we put the fear of god in them when they couldn't find us for hours. The 80's were a different time, and I lived in a small town where you knew a lot of people, and they knew you. It was safe. I don't consider the world a safe place anymore, even if you are in an affluent area. Except this fear(pedophilia/abduction, etc.) is a reality, and the reality is that if safeguards are put in place, fear and risk go down. I agree that the main reason that a store like this has this rule is to cover their ass, save money. But knowing that some random dude isn't lurking in the corners checking out kids because it was free ice cream day makes me feel better, and it should make everyone feel better.

Just one quick not to anyone else out there, especially non US members. It has always been the plan to wait until the June data gets imported. This will give us 6 full months of data for these new regions. This is where there starts to be a decent dataset to work off of and start fine tuning the data. It will also allow me to open up more indexes on the set guide pages to show performance over 6 months and create BrickIndexes for these 3 other regions. We wanted to get the data in there, allow people to start seeing the values and it has showed promise already. As the data matures it will allow us to do more and make the data more valuable to everyone.

Update - TRU called me yesterday to square up my cancelled order. They followed through on the online price and apologized for the cancellation. My order is on it's way. Good work TRU.

Maybe the actual updates/list of Reviews/Blogs/etc should be in its own locked and stickied thread that you guys can just replace over instead of pasting a redundant one each time? Then you could just post a list of what's coming up and simply link to the stickied thread. At least, it would cut down on the walls of color that take up half of each page, and make it easier to keep track of from the index page. Just a thought!

Yes, those $ 10 I treat just as I would cash in my wallet. Basically my point is this: when you use the $ 58 in points to get your $ 130 item that sells for $ 120 on eBay at the end of the day you are still spending $10 more than you should have. We agree on that!

I'm waiting for Kerrmando to jump on here and tell us he bought the whole thing and is currently driving a U-Haul over there to pick it all up. That guy pushes some pretty serious numbers.

Ok, now that we have a separate topic for this, and thanks for doing that, I will talk about it. If I owned the store, I would, for obvious reasons, find it wrong and troubling, as I would be losing money on an item that I could/should have sold at retail. Myself, or my employees, though, should be doing their due diligence when they "face"(this was what we called moving product to the front of the rack when I worked in a grocery store in high school so that it looks good) the store and move out of place items back where they should be. People get away with hiding things if the store isn't keeping their products tidy. On the shopper end of it, I can see why people do it, especially kids. Maybe the kid doesn't get his allowance for another week and wants an item, so he hides it until he can get it next week. No real harm done there. The store gets its sale, the kid gets his toy. Did he keep another kid from getting it? Yeah, but there is no real crime committed, so I don't get too worked up about it. As for adults, it's going to be done in the name of money, and this is where the lines blur. I doubt Joe investor is hiding a set so that he can buy it next week for his son/daughter. He is hiding it so that he can come back at sale time and get the item for less than he would have normally paid for it, and this becomes a moral issue. It's not outright stealing, you're still paying for it, but if it was an item worth hiding, the store was going to be able to sell it for a higher price. In the end, it's not like I'm going to call the cops about product hiding, it's just not that big of a deal, and can be prevented if the store in keeping the store tidy and organized. Anybody that has been to Walmart knows that this is generally not the case, however. I will say this. I would NEVER do this. Not because of it being criminal, but because I have too much pride, and my name is worth too much to be embarrassed over hiding Lego, and being questioned over it. Anyone with a professional career that actually has something on the line to lose, I guess is it worth the risk? I say no.

Plus it has the "in-law" factor for make AFOLs. I know I'm not the only one with in-laws that behave like they should live in a house like this. I own 5 currently. each unit represents 1 person in my in-law's house plus their strange dog.

With the recent fee changes on eBay it's really a fire and forget thing at this point. Just calculate what you need to make to hit your desired return, and list the item as a BIN with GTC. Rinse and repeat.

This is going to sound like a smartass answer, but I really do mean this professionally. You should sell any set when you can get your desired rate of return. If you don't have a desired rate of return, get one.

Pretty much this. I was glad to push it and just get mine when they had it. I may have paid retail but at least I have it at all.I think it's a little late to try and find one now. Haven't seen one since before the end of last year. I live 5 minutes from a LEGO store and they have A LOT of these. Do you think it will be gone soon? Target still has them online so I'm not sure if its too late....yet.If you know how your stores usually are with stock then I wouldn't worry too much about, plus you are that close to one. I know my retailers routines so when I see that much of an item I'm pretty sure it'll be there to pick up the next time. I've only been wrong a few times on that.But since I never like leaving anything to chance I would just get the minimum that you'd be okay with if things did suddenly go south and they didn't have it. Better to have something than wind up with nothing but regret. If anything, I just do not see any discount happening for The Orc Forge ever. You may get lucky and good for you if you can, but chances are slim in my opinion. This is one of those sets that never goes on sale or at the least slightly discounted.
