I also think something that needs to be said is that to make a profit, you NEED to sell. If you keep sitting on something that goes up in value, it is still worth something, but until you liquidate it, you haven't profited. A simple concept, but I continually battle myself when it comes to selling something. I have to convince myself that the money I make can go towards further investments.2 points

Thanks for all the advice. It helped. I contacted Walmart and they are sending 2 replacement VW Campers. Phew!2 points

I don't know the full extent of the fallout but have a feeling some were ripped off. In any case, this is reminder of what Ed and Jeff are trying to strive for on BrickPicker. To bring together a friendly and productive community created from good people. We strongly wish to encourage members to make offers and buy from one another (as soon as the BrickClassifieds is up of course) and give helpful advice. Anyone that abuses that system is not a wanted or productive person by any means and will only help to contribute negative opinion from outsiders and could cost the site good members, and hence forth they will be banned for such actions. While StarPod was a decent member to begin with, some of what he stated did not add up, and with the whole "New York, I Love" Yoda minifigures and X-Wings, he blew it big time. He made a promise to a number of people but did not follow through yet was browsing the site and posting. The nicest way of putting is "he bit off more than he could chew" and paid the price. (The real way of phrasing the situation would be censored.) Like I said, we want everyone to be a contributing member and keep this a friendly community but when the system gets abused and a member disrespects another by flatout ripping them off, you will be banned. There is no excuse for being a crook.2 points

So fun, I cannot wait to see this! Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs stills gets played monthly...those guys have a wicked sense of humor. I especially love the stop-motion/CGI hybrid look, no offense to TT Games, but I'm getting sick of smoothly animated lego characters.2 points

I've had someone say something similar to me b/c I bought out all the TMNT sets... "You're ruining some kid's Christmas" I said "No, some kid is still getting this is going to be just as happy as yours. The only difference is I help create jobs at ebay, the Post Office, the company that makes shipping boxes, the place that sells labels I print on, the place that sells ink for me to print with, the oil companies b/c I have to drive to the Post Office..." She had walked away at this point.1 point

I'll guess a couple, I don't want to use them all up before other people get to play - Eighties Dive = Space Harrier Dogs and Bullets = Contra Speleology's Friends = Lemmings1 point

The DKC is a Donkey Kong game. I'm guessing Do a Barrel roll is from BF3. That's a wild guess. I hear a Harp above my head is from Zelda, right? I have to admit those are really beautiful pieces of art!1 point

Wow, another 'dead thread' revival. I'm going to wear out the "Rise from your grave!" clip if this keeps up! It is odd considering the theme has been around for twelve years and basically Lego's generic race car theme that it isn't so hot (at least in the secondary market). Course last year was barely a decent send off with those four small monster truck sets. I honestly only bought them for the minifigures and perhaps some odd parts. Now maybe if they released more sets in the theme similiar to the Williams F1 Racer from 2002....1 point

Alos another question. I cannot seem to manage to put my Brickfolio data (like before) into signature... i allowed brickfolio data and all and its not showing in signature... I think the button (show brickfolio stats in sig'' is gone ?1 point

Im with you on this one, i just dont think it has the following that would make it a money making theme. Only old people like you and I can appreciate Tron, the new one was just ok though.1 point

Well! What lies beneath. My juicy gossip itch is sated for the next month or two.1 point

Wow, those are nice! Thanks for sharing. I'm sure I've played half of those but I'm hopeless with names and the only ones I can think of are Altered Beast for the 1st image and Worms for the "Sea Battleground" one.1 point

I'm in the same situation, currently sorting through 60 pounds while my kids watch. The good thing about buying collections is there are always knockoff and miscellaneous toys mixed in with the Lego, and I use them to keep my kids entertained.1 point

Problem with buying a ton of used lego is that you can't really build much until you've gone through the whole thing. In this case, the original owners somehow distributed every set evenly across the 14 bags, at least it seems that way... The kids have been bugging me non-stop to build the stuff they see in the manuals, but I can't. Tonight I ended up putting together the base of the cargo train engine, put a track around the table, and slapped the motor on top. It looks terrible, but they had a blast.1 point

Don't worry Helm's Deep is retiring, I am sure they were making these 24/7 up to the end of may, and more sets are retiring, still early but the big set list should come soon.1 point

That smiley icon...SO TRUE! hahahaha! I don't even like the Orc Forge set and don't plan on buying any, but I still feel that anxiety and urgency to buy! :frantics: :frantics: Edit: I just had to see a group of them....HAAHAHA! Too bad there wasn't a way to make them animate at different intervals for the chaos effect.1 point

Hey The Lost Boys (referring to movie poster in background). God I love that movie. I just told Ed a story the other day when I was first getting into programming, I would stay up to all night, working at this garbage and watched 3 movies on a non stop cycle. Jaws, The Lost Boys and The Fog. Every now and then I would throw The Burbs in. At this point, I can give the dialog to all those movies at a moments notice. What amazing talents I have1 point

I just noticed the "Retiring Soon" tag for the Orc Forge today, not sure when it was added. http://shop.lego.com/en-US/The-Orc-Forge-9476 Most sets seem to go EOL within a couple months of getting that tag. My guess is most of these sets will be EOL by the end of the summer, christmas at the latest.1 point

I think reputation points are valuable. Sure, most of us know who contributes on the site, but for someone who is new and does not know who is who then reputation gives them an idea. Also, someone who does not contribute a lot can make a couple of really valuable posts and in my opinion should be recognized for it. I don't think you should worry too much, I think what happened with you that particular day was an exception, not a constant. You apologized and I appreciate that, anyone can have a bad day, but you have to live with the consequences ( in this case, a hit to your site reputation points that it really is not something to get too worried about). Before AND after that you have made some great posts that people have recognized by giving you positive rep. Just keep expressing your opinions, even those that are different to most, and as long as you do it respectfully you will never have to worry about your reputation again.1 point

So I had trouble letting this level of incompetence slide. It took a few phone calls but I finally managed to get the price match applied retroactively. Picked up my $19.99 Fire Plane tonight. Probably not worth my time and energy, but I guess it was a principle thing with me. If they are going to attract customers via a price match policy they should at least know how to apply it!1 point

That is a little strange, because I know kids who have never seen LOTR and love the sets. If nothing else, they are just castle sets on beefiness steroids!1 point
