I just wanted to say thank you and how appreciative I am of how much time you guys are spending to make brickpicker the best website in the world. Thanks again for all you guys do.9 points

This program shouldn't be used by people who buy second hand sets from Ebay that have obviously been opened. Obviously the problem is with the person who listed it as complete and it wasn't...to make lego responsible is dishonest. I bet you got it cheap and are now expecting LEGO to provide you with free pieces on a previously opened set? This is an abuse of the system and will lead to higher costs for us honest people. If you think this takes "pennies" to respond to these requests then you have no idea how a business works. People trying to get stuff for free they don't deserve disgusts me.3 points

Lego will confirm you own the set by asking for a # listed on back of the instruction manual. Just tell them your kid lost elements. Personally, I used Bricklink for buying missing elements. when buying 100% complete sets that weren't. I used the partial refund from the ebay seller to offset the cost of buying from bricklink. i don't like using Lego customer service for a secondary market used purchase. bricklink has a cool feature that lets you select the missing elements and quality from any given set. then add those elements to a "wanted list": you can then use your list to see how many sellers have those pieces (all, most, some, etc...)2 points

I wonder if they would fit in the Palace Cinema? You could make a game room with vending machines.2 points

I've seen those arcade cabinets and soda vending machines before and they are very nice indeed. If anything, those are the reason why Lego's next modular set must be an Arcade! But there just has to be some pinball machines to go with it; no "ifs", "ands", or "buts" about it.2 points

Reading some of the latest comments I added in a feature that will show you similar topics when you are posting. This is just a trial run. Some may find it annoying, some may find it helpful. It can cut down on duplicate posts and help keep other topics going strong. Lets try it out and see how it works. Here is a video to show how it works. After you type your topic title and move to the next form field, you should see the topic options come in. If you see a topic that matches yours, don't create a new one, keep the other one alive. I disabled this feature in the Introduce Yourself forum, since I know there will already be many similar types. That is fine. http://www.screencast.com/t/dbee6OgL1 point

Why? Are you tired of the 30 different "who owns a Death Star" threads?1 point

Its not movie correct though, considering Rebels had limited army and Empire attacked in vast numbers. Its your decision what you prefer. but believe me overall 1 sided b-pacs are much more useful and better. There are many objective positive consideration and facts. now the only small fact potentially talking against 1 sided b-packs is that kids will want 2 to fight with them as opposed to parents only needing to buy 1.1 point

Its strange that some people get asked for proof of purchase and some don't.1 point

I did it twice in the past year and was asked for proof each time. My son lost a few elements. The sets were 1) the latest batcave (Batman's cowl) and 2) Vader's Transformation (vader's helmet and head). I contacted them about the Batcave on the telephone (the rep asked for the manual's back page code) and for the Star Wars set, I did it online. I was contacted about the Star Wars set via email 2 days later and asked for either of the following : photos of the UPC code on the box or manual's back page). I was told by the rep who handled the Star Wars case (via e-mail) that themed sets require proof due to the license.1 point

I am a new lego investor as well but have been involved with other somewhat similar type investments for awhile. The only thing I could add to the great info above, is to take your time. As a new investor you might feel like you need to catch up or get on board while you still can. But I think the better strategy is to read as much as you can, research, learn the market, and take advantage of the deals when they come available.1 point

Mines of Moria is likely with us for the rest of the year. Even after it goes EOL, because there's just SO MANY out there unsold, it may take time to appreciate.1 point

I'd also like to thank you guys, and everyone else who contributes in the forums, articles, and reviews. This site has a sense of comraderie and self-awareness that you just don't find on the internet very often. It could easily have gone the other way, with investors actively hiding deals, sales, advice, and wisdom from people who otherwise might be considered competition. But somehow BrickPicker has managed to encourage sharing, and has flourished because of it. What's even more exciting is the promise of things to come. Ed hints at a community marketplace where buyers and sellers can trade on insight and personality to build reputation, and then use that reputation to attract fair and honest deals. Count me in for the long haul.1 point

I third the notion stated in the orignal post by Etan. This community of ours here at BrickPicker is the best and I know for myself that I have become a better person ever since joining. I simply cannot thank both of you guys enough. Thank you, Ed and Jeff. LONG LIVE BRICKPICKER!!!!1 point

Well, thanks. We have a long way to go. Jeff is gonna get the articles and blogs back up in the next couple of days and we will get back to posting more of the articles and blogs from the contest. The forum conversion was a worthwhile investment, but it has given Jeff grey hair. I think members will begin to see how the whole package will work together in the very near future. The IP platform will help tie the entire site together and really make things like your personal profile, reputation and Brickpoints really matter. Even something as simple as posting in the forum will be able to make and save you money. More to come...1 point

Looks good so far. Not sure how I feel about the female equivalent of my favourite minifigure the Clockwork Robot, guess I kind of like it. Here's a link to a bigger sized pic: '>1 point

I'm so guilty. The better the clearance deals are, the harder time I have passing them up when I'm already tied up/down/however which way you want to put it. Ever since I came here, I see LEGO sets as potential dollars instead of my building bricks. It got so bad I had to sit down and make something like I used to just to snap out of it. And then I listed my creation on Ebay. Oh the shame.1 point

Seconded. This site has become a boon, an extension of my already unhealthy LEGO hobby, and a great resource for allowing me to make some great play money on the side to fund my LEGO habit, among other things. Sharing your Brickpicking world with us all was beyond generous.1 point

Over the course of the next week or two, Jeff will release the new PERSONAL BLOG feature and a more in depth explanation of Brickpoints will be given at that time. Jeff and I have been discussing the whole Review/Content contest and we are going to make an announcement later tonight or tomorrow on a major change to the current contest. Basically, we are going to separate the reviews and the Blog/EC articles and double the prizes. This new blog feature will enable people to post their own content, then get approval from us. Instead of the current system of supplying it to us, then us converting it to suitable site material, this will make it much easier for us to get content on the site sooner and keep Jeff working on other site operations and additions, instead of converting word files. The new forum and blog setup will make the site a lot more member interactive and will enable the regular Joe to post some quality blog articles and content. As always, the site is a work in progress and we are never happy with the status quo. Look for my announcement sometimes in the next 24 hours.1 point

Hokey Cokey, I have clicked the link and it was very simple to do. I'll let you how long it takes to arrive. I must say, on the surface of it they are a very trusting complany, I didn't even have to provide receipt details, or even my VIP number. I'm pretty sure that the intention of this is to replace parts that are missing from new sets purchased, not to provide an endless supply of lost parts which is the case with the OP's situation. It is pretty shady to do this to Lego with any frequency and probably contributes to their high prices.1 point

While it's possible that the Vampyre Castle will be a Black Friday set, I highly doubt it since it is a Halloween themed set and Halloween will already be over. But, you never know. Here is the Black Friday list from 2005-2011: 2005: Target - 4504 Millennium Falcon $49.99 TRU - 8780 Citadel of Orlan $24.97 - 8781 Castle of Morcia $49.99 - 4502 X-wing Fighter $24.97 2006: Target - 8877 Vladek's Dark Fortress $49.99 TRU 50% off the following- - 7476 Iron Predator vs. T-Rex - 7477 T-1 Typhoon vs. T-Rex - 4844 Wild Hunters - Bionicle Gold Toa - 8769 Visorak's Gate 2007: Target - 7894 Airport $44.99 TRU - I don't remember but I don't think there was anything 2008: Target - 6211 Imperial Star Destroyer $59.99 TRU - 50% off all Aqua Raiders - 7662 MTT $59.99 2009: Target - 7048 Troll Warship $49.99 - 7627 Temple of the Crystal Skull $49.99 TRU - 7623 Temple Escape $42.59 2010: Target - 5974 Galactic Enforcer $64.99 - 7097 Trolls' Mountain Fortress $64.99 TRU - 30% off the following- - 6754 Family Home - 7743 Police Command Center - 5601 LEGOville Fire Station - 8964 Titanium Command Rig 2011: Target - 7327 Scorpion Pyramid $64.99 - 8078 Portal of Atlantis $64.99 TRU - 35% off several small to midsized sets (only one licensed - Sponge Bob Glove World)1 point

Went to one of my local Walmarts the other day and they actually had clearance aisle, hadn't seen that before. Anyway, they had some Ghost Trains and Epic Dragon Battles there with no price tags. So I started to get excited that I hit some sort of jackpot, took them over to a scanner and..................................................retail price. F$*K You Walmart.1 point

There is a lot of hate for Bionicle, but it's a good investment. Does anyone here have a bunch of Bionicle investment sets?-1 points

I don't see it as abuse if you need the pieces to complete a set you own......now if you were getting pieces and selling them on brick link or somewhere then that would be abuse. I believe the everyone requesting pieces from LEGO legitimately needs them to complete their sets.-1 points
