Over the course of the next week or two, Jeff will release the new PERSONAL BLOG feature and a more in depth explanation of Brickpoints will be given at that time. Jeff and I have been discussing the whole Review/Content contest and we are going to make an announcement later tonight or tomorrow on a major change to the current contest. Basically, we are going to separate the reviews and the Blog/EC articles and double the prizes. This new blog feature will enable people to post their own content, then get approval from us. Instead of the current system of supplying it to us, then us converting it to suitable site material, this will make it much easier for us to get content on the site sooner and keep Jeff working on other site operations and additions, instead of converting word files. The new forum and blog setup will make the site a lot more member interactive and will enable the regular Joe to post some quality blog articles and content. As always, the site is a work in progress and we are never happy with the status quo. Look for my announcement sometimes in the next 24 hours.4 points

I remember a bunch of people asking the same about the IS a while back. Most of those people missed the boat. They woke up one morning and it was gone and the price shot up. Not quite that fast but y'all get what I'm saying. If you have the money why not get it now? Is 20 or 30 bucks really worth possibly missing out. I paid retail the ones I have months ago. Some would call that stupid, so be it but at least come EOL I won't have to be wasting my time and gas scrambling around searching high and low like people were doing with the IS.2 points

Here's my two cents. If you're going to make the argument that the deal is always out there, I'm going to flat out tell you that you are wrong. Some of the members live in very affluent, upscale towns and cities. Places LEGO either sells strong or sells out. To say you just have to drive around harder is ignorance. I have gotten some insane deals, and I mean insane. 60 percent or more off is an easy thing to hit here come clearance time. I work hard at it, yes. I hit every Walmart, Target and Kmart within 45 minutes of me roughly every week or two. I like the thrill of finding an epic haul. Sometimes I'm at my 24hr Walmarts at 1 or 2 in the morning. But don't confuse things. My hard work only pays off because I live in a poor area of the U.S., one of THE poorest actually, and most people down here who are struggling to make gas, food, or rent money can't afford the high MSRPs of LEGO. So, they sit on the shelf until they have to move in the next line, and in comes the clearance deals. If I tried to replicate this back home in Atlanta, I can assure you my success wouldn't be anywhere near what I'm used to, even with more effort put in on my part. The fact is, some people will get lucky, some will get more out if they put more work in, but the true deciding factor determining your LEGO profitability aside from working captial is going to be the place, and thus the market, you live in.2 points

There are options or modules that we can add to the new blog feature to incorporate charts. I just want to separate the review contest and the blog articles contest into two separate entities. I want to make the blog articles easier to incorporate into the site and take Jeff out of the mix. I want members to produce a blog with our new blog tool, then I will review it, modify it, add to it, and then post it. Some of the older articles can be dated, so with multiple people supplying fresh content on a daily/weekly basis, it will become much more informative and useful.1 point

Just picked up the Elrond poly (2nd one), the Lex Luthor poly and a Chase McCain figure for $28.55. I really only wanted the Luthor fig but thought this was a pretty decent deal. Should be able to flip the Elrond figure for another cool fig. Good deal?1 point

Don't read this the wrong way, but we should all start using the green "up" arrows as a way of saying "thanks" or that we agree with someone. I forget to do it sometimes myself, but the sooner we all start using those, the more streamlined the forum and conversations will become Plus, by using them you will be also "rewarding" members for answering questions or posting something interesting, as I think Ed and Jeff will be awarding Brickpoints based on that too. Again not directed at anyone specifically ;)1 point

Five exclusive figs including three new Ewoks, new Luke and new Leia. The Luke fig has his prosthetic hand gloved - nice touch.1 point

Looks better than I was expecting, but not as good as I dreamed it would be. I'll still be a buyer.1 point

That was almost like a mini-review...you deserve a dime for that one...thanks for sharing your ten cents. Does the Limousine fall apart easily or what? I get extremely annoyed for some reason by cars that fall apart but I put up with it for walls/structures. I guess because I assume the vehicles to be played with more and rolled around and handled by kids. After building the Friends convertible with my daughter, Iwas impressed with how solid and sturdy it was.1 point

I am willing to do the same thing. I don't get that many deals locally however--but whatever I see online will be posted here--after I place my order. I constantly scour the internet at all times of the day/night/morning as I work odd hours--and have internet access even at work. I can also send out things to people that are available to me locally for cheap---if person covers shipping and $10 for my trip to post office and packaging. Unfortunately---I haven't seen anything yet--worth offering. There are about 10 ghost trains for $49 at East Walpole MA Walmart that I left when I grabbed my 2. If they drop to 30 I can buy the rest if anyone wants them. Really think we need to cut the forum count in half though--my head is spinning trying to follow the same discussions in 3 different threads. We need to have one deals forum--and have it restricted to members. We should also have a text message list for the serious investors to get online deals. I am more than willing to help in anyway I can. This would work great for Craigslist finds as well. There is someone selling an old lego train set for half of BP est. value--but I have no interest. If someone were interested, I could negotiate the guy down, and send it to you. That kind of thing would take this site to the next level. Maybe a serious investor forum only could be set up for these type of deals--where we can trust sending hundreds of dollars of merch and cash back and forth. Maybe the price of admission is a picture of you, your screen name you home address in front of thousands of dollars of lego boxes would do it? Lego ->1 point

This is one of those lines where I might grab some just to have because I like them. Along with the other guy who said they liked Pharaoh and Atlantis' lines, I'm right there. They were horrible investment-wise, but I really loved both themes. Even if this tanks, I'll be an owner at the least.1 point

The story is laughable. The sensationalism of this topic is getting ridiculous, why was this even on the news?1 point

Yo Stephen, check out the date on his post. It was made a week before the new forum update went into effect. He couldn't have used a feature not yet available.1 point

Remember Alcarin, we havn't seen what the Ghost Train does after EOL yet... Both POTC ships did crappily while available in stores. Don't judge the set until we've seen its returns!1 point

Lego likes to take its orders early in the year so they can project how many to produce. Many retailers put their orders in at Toy Fair in February to guarantee their stock.1 point

If you could predict this accurately for each set it would make you the perfect investor. Using older sets and sets that are similar to one we are making a decision on is usually the best we can do. Finding that optimum spot where growth slows to a point where taking your profits and then putting your capital into a higher growing set is something I'm trying to work towards, but it is super hard to do. What I have noticed, in general, it isn't a sets time that determines it's plateau, but more its actual price. Once a set hits 4-5 times its original retail price there is often a slowing or peaking of growth. My theory is that buyers find it hard to justify paying such a big markup for a secondary market set when they could take their disposable income and buy some other Lego like a different set, a retail one, or a used one.1 point

How is Gollum exclusive? cheapest Hobbit set = Gollum... This set will fail horribly IF sam is rereleased in any other set If he is not he will double easily within 2 years of AFOL it all depends on the Sam boy-1 points
