0 I've never met any of you fools. Probably a good thing, I start seeing big collections and I'll go broke.2 points

No...it's not you. We won't implement any kind of restrictions....yet. LOL. Maybe one particular member might get another special award if they don't figure out the proper way to post a question or filter an answer so not to piss off a site developer who spent 18 straight hours launching a new upgrade to a free site. Thats's all. I mean, I would hate to see this member stop being an active member of the site and reviews contest, but there are certain ways to ask and respond to questions without irking others. Maybe we need an article about forum etiquette.2 points

The new forum is LIVE and in what I am calling Beta Mode!! The reason I am calling it beta status is because I know there are still some items that need to be tweaked and figured out yet. Overall, it was a real pain in the butt and hopefully the last time I will ever need to do this. We both truly believe while it was unfortunate to take the forum down for this long, moving forward, the features and ideas we have for this will be worth it. A few things to note (the bad news): All your private messages are not on this forum, you will be starting over from scratch (sorry about that) You will need to add your avatar We are still working out the single sign on code. There may be a chance you will see an error when logging in from the main site and visiting the forum (this is especially true for new members that have never been to the forum yet) Polls are gone I am sure there are things I have not noticed yet in the overall setup of the forum. The features here are 1.2 billion times more robust than the last one I need to tweak the template to work better on mobile devices I will get the latest forum posts on the home page as soon as I can Links to old forum in Google or other search engines will be erratic for a bit until the search engines can reindex the new forum and forget about the old one. Brickpoints Brickpoints are still here, but there will be a little bit of work to transition everything to the new style and a few rules may change. I will be removing the current Brickpoints page and log for bit since it will not be updating like it did before. Ed and I will have an update on Brickpoints once everything is fully clear to us. NOW FOR SOME SUPER GREAT NEWS!!!!! This forum auto saves as you are typing, which is great if there is failure and you lose the page, etc. You will not lose your work Images and video in the posts. You will be able to insert images and youtube videos directly in the posts. This should be a nice feature and hopefully not beaten to death to slow down the pages. Just paste in a Youtube share link and the forum will automatically convert it and add the player Lots of features for finding the latest content since your last visit. I know lots of you will enjoy that so you can see what you missed while you were gone I will post more as the features come to me. There are more things we will be making active once we know the forum is solid. Hopefully everyone like the newer technology and we appreciate the patience while we go through this. Once we get through the next 24-48 hours, I think things should be pretty solid. If you are running into major problems, please send me an e-mail: [email protected] Thanks!!!1 point

I've said it before, I'll say it again. This business lends itself to small time hobbyists who can toss a few dozen sets into a closet for 2+ years and forget about them, and serious investors with big cash, spreadsheets, patience, and active trading experience. Everyone in the middle is going to get chewed up and spit out, many losing money without realising it. This is a perfect example, where I've seen dozens of auctions sold at a loss when shipping and fees are calculated. The real frustration is these idiots prevented actual fans and real investors from getting these sets on the 4th. They're also depressing the market which will hurt my bottom line down the road. That said, This does present an attractive opportunity for anyone in the market for more B-wings. Take advantage, especially if you see an auction which includes a Han minifig.1 point

I quite happy with a lot of wannabe investors getting a sour taste in their mouth from this B-wing. We don't want everyone doing this after all..1 point

I think my local Walmart and Targets would rather throw LEGO sets inthe dumpster rather than clearance price them lol1 point

You can currently go to your profile page by clicking your avatar, then go to the Awards page, and from there you can mouse over the Times Awarded to see who received an award for that one. If you are talking about being able to simply click on the award and see a list of everyone that has earned one, that would be a good idea to consider I think.1 point

Great stuff Orcking! 3 polls, that's a cool new forum feature, it definitely works well. 1st voter, yay! Went with the Zombie. I love him both as a collector and investor. I actually have a small collection of every Zombie minifigure that has been made to date. I actually thought the series was quite good as a first off effort. Back when it was made, Lego would have been testing the waters a bit with this new CMF range, so that is probably why some of the characters are a little generic. I really liked the Cowboy, Ninja, Deep sea diver, Tribal hunter, and Demolition Dummy as well and they have all made it into my limited collection.1 point

The sets I mention above will always be available once they are retired, there are always about 100 or more Black Pearls, Queen Revenge, The Potter Castle's, 10217 Alley, 10212 Shuttle. last year at this time there were plenty of these at retail and lower, and look at them now, and with all the sets I listed will be the same thing once they retire, see whats 100 or so listings of say the Harry Potter 4842 Castle set with billions of people in the world. There will always be someone who wants one and pay big bucks for one, thats just the way it is. I just don't understand how anybody would think the Haunted House would not be a big money investment. See for some reason it seems like most people don't want the set until its Retiring soon, or retired. I am still kicking myself for not buying 100 Black Pearls from Costco for $50 a year and half ago, I only got 50 of them, And thats the way alot of you guys say to yourself now about sets you should of gotten or should you get more of the sets out now.1 point

Hey all I can say is good luck to them, I am not sure what they have in store or how deep. For all I know it can be an off the shelf product that they are slapping together. They say a 5% fee, which will be much more than what ours will be and it is an auction site like eBay, so they are going to try and say hey, we are 1/2 price compared to eBay which overall is good, but eBay has about 2 billion more visitors than them.1 point

LOTR for sure. in addition to being the ones that will retire sooner, here is what I wrote in a recent review for the 79000 Riddles for the Ring set: For me the Lord of the Rings subtheme is stronger than the Hobbit as it is based on proven successful movies whereas the Hobbit is based on a new movie trilogy with only the first one released so far and it was not as widely seen as the LOTR films. LOTR also has a far greater following amongst the book fans and general collector audience. Some of this does spill over into the Hobbit, but the focus is greater on LOTR. I myself collect all the LOTR Lego sets but only have a few Hobbit ones. http://www.brickpicker.com/reviews/review.cfm?id=8831 point

Hey guys, Instead of saying those posts (the +1s) I think you can click that new little green upwards arrow on whoever's post you agreed with and it will show you agree!? I think that might eliminated some forum crowdedness (just think its cool to see, not correcting you guys)1 point

Ed, I respect your opinion on these matters perhaps more than anyone else on this site. I'm just not convinced that the HH is a good buy right now. The discount isn't the issue either. I'm certain that even when/if it does go on sale, that given its exclusive nature I'll likely be restricted in the number of sets I'll be able to aquire at a discounted price. I'm also expecting it to soar in value once retired, selling eventually for 5-600 or perhaps even more by the time I'm ready to unload. Therefore I'm less concerned about my buy in price, since saving 20 or 30 dollars now will not significantly impact my projected profits. My concern is this set will be available at retail for 2+ years, long after the rest of the Monster Fighters line has vanished. Every dollar I tie up in one of these is a dollar less I can invest in a Vampyre Castle (right now I can get roughly 2 1/2 for every HH, which I feel is a superior investment). There are also numerous other sets I believe will be strong performers in EOL, which again will have dollars allocated away from them and tied up in this large set which may take years to see retirement. I really wish I had a crystal ball and could predict the future. Since I don't though, I have to go with my gut which tells me the downside risk of being tied up in an investment that could take years to see a return is too great vs. the potential for a big gain. Especially when compared to the close contemporary VC which we have rock solid evidence of imminent retirement. Again, I respect the heck out of you Ed and you may end up being right here. If HH vanishes in a month along with the rest of the line I'll gladly sit here with egg on my face. At least I'll have a mountain of VCs so I won't be completely empty handed1 point

Lets see, largest Technic set to date... check Licensed Mercedes Benz .... check Has large international renown outside of the lego model .... check I think this one will do very well after EOL, it is not a UCS, but its a potential sleeper.1 point
