Matt C. Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I know it, and it's got me worried. I want to get it, but i may have to put it on the CC, but that's not something i really want to do.
vandiverscott Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 DA is up to $179 on Amazon now. I'm pretty sure it's bye-bye for the good ole MSRP. Luckily, I picked one up yesterday.
Legodog Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Great news! I have 3 out there somewhere on the way to my house right now.
justgod Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 These are available as of now on LEGO Shop at Home U.S. I have the option to change the quantity to 99, so maybe they found a bunch somewhere? Amazon is sold out, now down to private sellers. TRU also has them. Here's hoping two year's worth of storage pays off!
littlenicky Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Don't make the mistake and sell too early. Let it peak first, then plateau, then consider selling. Lots of people make the mistake of selling where there is a quick $10-$20 profit. If you have been patient for this long, why not let it rise up a little more and then take $30-$50 profit. Typically, once all retailers dry up, then wait a couple of months, that should garner a few extra bucks for you. If you are looking to get max profit, then I'd personally hold off till next Christmas. Just something for people to consider.
vandiverscott Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 "Call for Availability" on LEGO Shop at Home, only "Sold in Stores" on TRU...maybe this is really it! Time will tell.
Legodog Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Seems like it has been going back and forth all week on LEGO Shop at Home. But that is a good sign. It means the end is near.
vandiverscott Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Received my Diagon Alley set from Amazon today. The bottom of the box was folded, and you could tell that the seals had obviously been peeled back and stuck back down. I didn't even take the time to look to see if everything was there. Amazon tried to just refund my money, but I explained that $147 wouldn't buy this set anymore. After a little "friendly persuasion", they allowed me to order a $230 set from one of their third parties, and they credited my account the difference. They also gave me next day expedited shipping for free for the inconvenience. It was a disappointment at first, but it's nice to see a big seller pull through and make something right. Way to go Amazon!

Matt C. Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 I received my set from LEGO Shop at Home today expecting the worst because it shipped from Mississippi and i'm in California. It ended up being great! No flaws or anything that i noticed. I've read about the box damage from others, so hopefully i will get lucky and not have to worry about that sort of thing.

Way to go Amazon! I ordered 2 sets in late Dec. it took 3 exchanges / returns to finally good a good 1st set and 2 times for the 2nd set. Very poor packing on their part. Same with the Star Wars imperial shuttle (2 times due to poor packing)
stephen_rockefeller Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 People will be surprised what a little politeness will do over the phone...I am a pretty nice guy so its not hard for me to be nice to the people on the other end of the phone but some think that they are gonna get what they want by demanding this and that......let me know how that works out for you! Always be polite and most phone reps will bend over backwards for you. A great way to start off a call is to actually listen to their name when they answer and say hello (insert name) how are you doing today? Getting all huffy and puffy will get you nowhere faster than a minecraft set selling out on S@H!!

I was on the phone with him for 40 minutes or so, and he went out of his way to make it work. At one point he stated that this was all that his "bureaucratic superiors would allow". After he got me fixed up, I asked to speak to his "bureaucratic superior" and made sure to leave him some very positive feedback. They were quite appreciative stating that it's all too often that they only hear the negative feedback. Once again, way to go Amazon!
