Sauromosis Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Guy sold me legos, asked if I was verified. Yes, we both are. Cool, I paid him via paypal, he vowed to ship the next day. Now, no contact for three days. If this is a scam, what is it? Try to get my money moved to a bank before I chargeback? Being verified, wouldn't there be a paper trail? Amount was 350. Just curious to hear people's opinions. Quote
justafrog Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Provided you selected the payment method for tangible goods, and not as a "gift", you're covered by PayPal if he doesn't ship, regardless of where he's moved the money. Quote
Sauromosis Posted April 24, 2014 Author Posted April 24, 2014 He invoiced me, no mention of "Gift" and there's a link for resolution. I'm more curious about how he plans to get away with it...move to other paypal accounts? There will always be a trail. Quote
justafrog Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 It's possible he's incompetent and not dishonest and that it'll be shipped. But, otherwise, PayPal has to pursue him to get the money back, if he moved it successfully. They're only going to do so much work for $350 (plus whoever else he ripped off this go-round, if anyone). They're going to refund you, chalk it up to bad debt, and move on. Quote
iahawks550 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 All it takes is two fraudulent accounts and it's quite easy to do. Quote
HarryG Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 You get something like 90 days to file a dispute. You won't lose your money if you didn't gift it. I've had to do it once and I got a full refund, so don't be to worried. Give it a bit of time. He may have forgotten to check it off as posted. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Brickpicker mobile app Quote
