vincevaughn
If you can sit on them and have the capital to tied up, I think it could be lucrative. Would do a thorough research on all of them to access growth potential and ask yourself 'would that 12k be spent better elsewhere?'
eferna
Its not a great pickup, but then again a few sets are worth it. Most of these sets can be bought at the prices they are asking for, but you do save on the taxes depending on where you are. I say around 1000 is what you save if you buy it from him as some of these sets you could buy cheaper Your call if you want to drop 12k in a day or 13k over a year
redghostx
Go fo 10,000 and the seller can keep the SSD. I don't see a lot of profit in here in the next 12 months and as an earlier reply said. Evaluate whether that money could be better used on other highly desirable sets. For example, That is a lot of GEs, T1 and SSD that you could be buying instead. brickelements
Also available for negotiation: up to 4 - 6285 loose complete, and 4 - 6286 loose complete, 2 - Queen Anne's, 1 - 10210 Loose complete and 1 - Black Pearl all loose and complete. Prices do not sound of desperation but if you want to expand your inventory in one swoop it might be a negotiable opportunity. Not sure I am the heavy hitter needed for a lot/collection this size. Huskers1236
These prices are essentially top of the range right now, and even more in some case like 7939. You're giving him full ebay price with this, which is not a sound investment, even if they can make money over the course of the next few years. If you're taking this much on at one time, it has to be worth it to you, which means him coming down a few thousand. There is definitely money to be made here, but you entry point has be lower than 12k for you to make money in under a few years.
iahawks550
Not a good deal at prices listed. Those are already set at current market price.
siddji
I would do atleast 10,000 or 10,500 max. I had a collection worth $20000 that i posted a while back that i sold for $14000. Would try to get 30% off msrp overall or 25% atleast.
siddji
Why is pricing on some sets like winter village and fire brigade jacked up as msrp
brickelements
Yeah 10229 is high, average selling prices for the last 30 days falls into the 135-150 range.
tonysbricks
Lol it's probably the same clown that tried to sell it here last year (not you OP, the seller).

brickinfinite
I think the price is at a high premium for the sets with marginal room for further appreciation. Also, I am inclined to think that there are better ways to spend the $12K.
donliu
I would talk him down. Those prices are to high.

Deal or No Deal? Opinions I rather spend the 12k finding deals here and there .. rather than pay that. If he wants to sell bulk he needs to come down on the price .. maybe 8k? Soadfan4ever
$120 for Hoth Echo Base? Dude's going all TRU with his pricing.
@rtisan
I wouldn`t pay more than $8000 if it was me. Not enough room for profit if you go much higher, or hold for longer. Even 10k will take you too long to get a decent ROI. A $400-$500 SSD is not nearly enough to sweeten a deal like this. Doubt he`d accept $8000, but at least at a buy in price like that there is money in it for you. Be prepared to hold for quite some time if you go in any higher. Alpinemaps
You've gotten great advice so far. Just remember you don't *have* to spend the money (because of all the reasons above), but yet he needs the capital, so he needs to find a buyer. If he wants to liquidate, he's got to sweeten the deal. I get that he wants value for his sets, but if he wants value for his sets, he needs to do the work for it (list them on eBay or Amazon, ship them out, etc). If he wants fast cash, then he has to accept the "cost" of getting fast cash.
vincevaughn
May also bring up the ebay fees argument....that is 13% slop on market value that he would save doing a cash deal.
exciter1
May also bring up the ebay fees argument....that is 13% slop on market value that he would save doing a cash deal. Yes, basically he's putting all the hassle and cost on the buyer here.
brickelements
Excellent advice all. Thank you for all the input. I will pass. Not enough in for the risk/capital outlay.
Mindblow21
Offer him 9k and make it a standing offer. If he thinks that he can sell the lot and clear more than that he is delusional. To make the kind of money he is asking he would need to hold and sell sets individually. Obviously he does not appear to want to do that, the buyer always has leverage in a liquidation situation and that appears to be what this is, good luck. redcell
If he's looking to liquidate a collection of that size, he needs to be prepared to sell at between 25% and 50% of the current market value. It always amazes me when people think that they can sell huge collections at full retail price.

Just give them a standing offer and say you know how to contact me if you decide to deal. Time works wonders for that. The worst he can say is no and it is no skin off your back.
