jaisonline
Anyone know if Lego changed the box size? Also would like to know new box dimensions. If the box is smaller and the contents group tighter it will help decrease the number of crushed boxes. Less dead space. Also would like to know new box dimensions. brickology101
In the end, it really depends on how many more years this set will be available in its new box and what the supply of old boxes will be out there when it finally retires. As a collector, I would prefer to buy the old box style. If I have to spend $100's on this set I may as well get the original version. For most buyers, however, I don't think old vs new box would make a difference as long as the set is in good shape and priced right at the time of purchase. Looks like this one is not ready to go EOL yet. Still a good investment, no matter the what the box design is.

They were purchased in a desperate scramble just before the new box was revealed, so I took whatever I could get.
Jules_K
I'm interested to know why everyone thinks that the new box means that this won't be retiring this year? If the box is the same size it would be very little work from Lego to make some minor design adjustments to it.

jbacunn
My guess would be that 99% of future buyers of this set after retirement aren't going to give a darn about what box design they get or even be aware that there was a box redesign.

If the box is the same size it would be very little work from Lego to make some minor design adjustments to it.very little work or not why change it with 4 months to go if it indeed was retiring at the end of the year. Still wouldn't waste any expense whether it is large or small to do it.It was supposedly redesigned to come across as a revamped / new looking product to keep going strong well into the future.Great set either way and was selling for 350 for a good 3 to 4 weeks while it appeared to go away. I can however understand selling them if you don't want to hold a $250 set for possibly DS like years. Its a big set and pricey and this one is pretty easy to re-obtain if there is a scare so you can reload on it.
JM123
Sold half of my stock on this one at retail (220 euro) 1.5 week ago.. prices I can forget now. Thank you Brickpicker members for your fast and accurate information about this set, you save me money.I also think it won't retire this year, becoming a sort of DS of the creator expert models.. perhaps stock some (more) SOH? S.African.AFOL
New TB expected in SA in two weeks time. If it will be available here, it should be available everywhere. allthingslego9
So does everyone think this set is coming back or heading towards retirement. Does the box redesign indicate LEGO intends to keep it around?

BrickLegacy
Target sold out of TB. If I'm not mistaken, this was at the inflated price of ~$320 to match Amazon, correct? Interesting.Shop at Home still temporarily out of stock.
GhostDad
No idea what to think about this one. I'm sitting at 13 sets, which is either too many or too few, depending on what the redesigned box means for set longevity.
Follows Closely
This set might top my list of 2015 regrets. That's better than being on your list of 2014 or 2013 regrets.
GhostDad
The full-size version of the Tower Bridge gets a nice cameo in the trailer for the new 5th Wave movie. It gets wrecked by a tidal wave. This is clearly a sign of imminent retirement for 10214. Or a sign that the market will be flooded post-retirement. Invest accordingly!
