stephen_rockefeller Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I wouldn't consider it a big surprise, but I'm certainly not buying one based on a Lego Store employee's recommendation. Time and again these guys have given buyers incorrect information - all chronicled in the other thread - regardless of where on the planet they live.I'm not calling anyone a liar, I just don't believe anything any LS employee reportedly says regarding retirement. Others are free to do as they please.BOOM! 1 Quote
S.African.AFOL Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I'm new to this forum, but not to forums in general. Whether it is lego, photography or cars, the psychology remains the same. John states his opinion, Jack counters it and both type their keyboards warm believing they're convincing each other of their own opinions. Many replies later, both leave the argument with the exact same sentiments they entered. Forums are an amazing source of information, but can also be an amazing waste of time. I was just adding some info that may be of value. As Ciglione mentions, our market is microscopic and the shops aren't wary of brickvestors. There might be 5 of in the whole country and I doubt anyone is spending close to what I am. Anyway, I only have one TB and won't be able to get another. I went to buy 2 ToO's and left with 5 ToO's, 3 PC and 2 VW campers...not sure if that's a good or a bad way to start the week! 3 Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 We are just giving you a hard time buddy. Welcome to the forum, there is a high level of anecdotal evidence that lego employees are full of BS though. Quote
S.African.AFOL Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Thanks Stephen :) Yeah I went through that thread and saw some ridiculous stuff from long ago and from recent months. People suggesting that the Tumbler is about to go EOL...Haha! I've learned an amazing amount from two weeks of scouring the BP forums and I've since decided to double my investment in Lego. If SA gets any more TB's I'll certainly purchase another! Quote
BrickLegacy Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Hopefully Amazon gets a bump and Target sells out quickly. Quote
jay4e Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 (edited) Hopefully Amazon gets a bump and Target sells out quickly.Amazon pricing is already $100 above RRP, and target is matching... not sure we will see much better than that while the uncertainty of TOOS lingers. will be fun to watch though. ChristopherJB Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Most of the people who loaded up SSD, TH and HH last year are the same guys who will be jumping on this or already have. The TOOS on LEGO Shop at Home and jacked up Target prices is doing exactly the same thing as what happened with the SSD a year ago. Pretty much the same exact pattern. It will come on and off from LEGO Shop at Home and people will be pouncing on it clicking refresh every hour it comes online and put it back to TOOS. Rinse and repeat the same pattern. I'm 98% sure this is going to be done before Halloween just like what the HH did last year. Those who stocked up months before today, good on you. You can sit back and watch the message boards go on a buying frenzy in the next month and a half. 1 Quote
Ciglione Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 (edited) TB is back in full force. Collishop in Belgium shows 99 in stock. Edited August 6, 2015 by Ciglione Quote
brickology101 Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 How strange ?In the US TB is only available at Target and AMZ for $350.Typically, this is a sign that the set is winding down prior to go EOL. Quote
Ciglione Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Strange indeed. For what it is worth: Last year when TH was due to retire Collishop in Belgium also had 99 of them in stock. Then they came on a very nice sale and I believe all 99 were depleted in less than 3 days. One can only hope the same scenario will be played with TB. 1 Quote

Was out today and randomly stumbled on one of these in a department store packed away with all the city stuff. Now I'm back at home regretting not pouncing on it. Box was MINT! Given how well the ET and TM have done i'd agree with some of the other statements here that this one seems to be a good investment. Has a relatively high buy in point thats going to stop any small time players accumulating but depending on how hoarded this one is I'd see this one more of a long term hold. I reckon people who want this are only going to be the hard core builders. Too big really to get one to display on the shelf, not really a play set and I'm not sure if the target audience might be too "specific". That said its obviously done well enough for Lego to keep it round for so long. Given the recent seal news its not like they made a bunch back in 2010 and this is still the stock they're trying to get rid of. Interesting to see how long this one lasts. Does anyone know what the original license was for? Quote

Does anyone know what the original license was for? No word... last year it was in November if I recall correctly. Now they are still busy selling bbq's and swimming pools. Lego season hasn't started yet. I think it initially was a awesome investment. It had to be retired last year. The longer it takes to retire it will not have a very positive impact on the investment potential. Or you have to que up with the patient lego investing monks like me. Quote
brickology101 Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Lego.com has them. Now they do, but at the time I wrote my post, yesterday 7:00 AM it was temporarily sold out at US Lego SAH. Quote
cissi Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Saw TB with new box (with new Creator Expert logo) today at the LEGO store. Guess it's not done... 3 Quote

Did you check the seal codes by chance?30R5 was the one I saw.Wow. Was the artwork completely redesigned? Shocked by the new box too much that I didn't actually remember that well... (sorry that I forgot to take some picture, was happy going to a store...)Now I'm looking at the pictures of the old box design on Amazon, trying to jog my memory...On the back of the new box, it still shows the bridge gate opens. Not too sure if those top two small panels are there on the new box. Edited August 8, 2015 by cissi Quote
