Sflego86 Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Agh, missed out on the Tower bridge at wal-mart. Was about to check out and they ran out of stock. Picked up 3 R2-D2's and 2 SSD's. Let the appreciation begin! Quote
mr_cotta Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 I'm going to have an insane amount of boxes showing up at my door on Saturday! Quote
Rich B Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 I'm going to have an insane amount of boxes showing up at my door on Saturday! Same here.......and a lot of card bills showing up in my mailbox in 2-3 weeks haha, but the deals today were too good to turn down ;) Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Not that $208 isn't an amazing deal but check this out....... http://www.walmart.com/ip/LEGO-Tower-Bridge/17353274 looks like its not available anymore at that price. I think with all the new investors and sites such as this one deals like this wont last long before word gets out and they all get scooped up! Quote
Jeff Mack Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 More good deals at Walmart on the Tower Bridge for only $178.55. This is by far one of my favorite sets (Also available on Amazon for the same price right now) Quote
mmatthie Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 I just picked up two of these! I'll return the ones I just got yesterday from TRU since I'll save about $38 from last weeks BOGO 40% off sale! Quote
Jeff Mack Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 i can't believe how fast these all went out of stock, i think both places were out in under 2 hrs. Quote
Lateral-G Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 i can't believe how fast these all went out of stock, i think both places were out in under 2 hrs. I think this website had a lot to do with it...... Quote
Rich B Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 i can't believe how fast these all went out of stock, i think both places were out in under 2 hrs. Good, hopefully this is a sign that this will be an even hotter item than it already is once it's EOL Quote
Lateral-G Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Good, hopefully this is a sign that this will be an even hotter item than it already is once it's EOL I don't think there's any worry about that. I bet the first month after EOL it'll triple in value from it's original price. Quote
Rich B Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 I don't think there's any worry about that. I bet the first month after EOL it'll triple in value from it's original price. As the proud owner of a few of these, I sure hope so ;) Quote
Doofy McGee Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 As of today, 10214 Tower Bridge and 10218 Pet Shop are no longer available from Amazon. I have been monitoring the stock for these items, and they weren't even low. Yesterday, they had 999+ of each of these. Could somebody shed some light on this? I am guessing that those of you who have been doing this for a while have seen this sort of thing before. Quote
bibious Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 They both went on sale matching Walmart (178 and 111.) They are "sold out" once the sale prices are gone amazon will have normal stock back on the "shelf." This is my guess anyways. Quote
Ed Mack Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 You will see the sets back in stock soon at regular MSRP. Amazon does this every once in awhile and you never know what sets or when they will go sale at such a discount. Best thing to do is to check into our site and forums and check out the Amazon and Walmart deals page(links on toolbar on homepage). We will also be coming up with a Target deals page and a Barnes & Noble deals page. Quote
cbaker1974 Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I don't think there's any worry about that. I bet the first month after EOL it'll triple in value from it's original price. Well, that would set a record as really no exclusive has performed like that in the aftermarket...I think it may double a year after retirement, that's probably the best hope. Quote
Brickmythic Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Tower Bridge is no Taj Mahal or Carousel in that investors were prepared for Tower Bridge. However, Tower Bridge will still do very well once EOL. UK has the highest per capita Lego fan base and spend the most money on Lego than any other country in the world other than USA hence why TB is expected to do well. I predict it will sit at $500 for a few years no doubt. and it wont be quite the home run Diagon Alley or Black Pearl will be. I hope Im not being a downer because TB is still going to be a solid net profit. great set. huge! Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Gonna buy me a set for Christmas.....narrowed it down to 2. Which do y'all think is a better investment in terms of %of growth from retail after EOL, The grand emporium or the tower bridge?????? Quote
Talon Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 I say pick the one you personally like the most. I like both of them, but am less interested in Tower Bridge because the scale doesn't match the other modular city sets I like such as the Grand Emporium. If I were to build the Tower Bridge I would probably eventually tear it apart and use the pieces on a modular building, but that is just me! Quote
agp548 Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 I personally would go with the emporium as well. I also wish it would go EOL soon too lol which I am beginning to think that none of the current modular buildings are gonna go EOL any more. But yes I like the emporium for playability, mini figure scale, and the fact that its a corner buiding, and it will be a good investment once it eventually retires. Tower bridge for me is just a good investment. But boring for my taste. Quote
h311m4n Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 The tower bridge is more a display model while the emporium has more playability to it. I personally picked them both up. Also the towerbridge has a fantastic price per piece ratio, i think it somewhere around 5ct/brick. It might not do as well as the Taj Mahal but i'm pretty sure it will do well in the aftermarket. Ed Mack Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Both are must haves for the LEGO investor. But buy the one which you think is closer to EOL. 1 Quote

Wizkid23 Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 The price per piece ratio on the Tower Bridge is outstanding, as mentioned earlier in the post. That being said, even though I tend to like the Grand Emporium better, for investment purposes I think the Tower Bridge will be a very good set to get right now. Although I don't believe it will reach the level of the Eifel Tower or Taj Mahal sets, at least not right away, I still think it will be a great set for investment purposes. Quote
