DarthDrake Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I missed out on this haul by minutes. Harry Potter Lego sets + ships. Migration Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 This is so much better than the usual "I made a killing on craigslist today" post. I feel your pain, I missed out on a 125lb bulk lot for $75 last week because I was at "work". Quote
DarthDrake Posted April 18, 2014 Author Posted April 18, 2014 Yeah, I added it all up and it would've been around $1200 used value. She said most were complete and some just had a few pieces missing. But she had just sold it to the person that had contacted her just before me. The listing had only been on there for a few hours. That 125lb bulk lot would've been sweet too. The problem is, around here, deals like that seldom happen. You almost have to be psychic and standing at their door as soon as they post the ad. Lol. Quote
MartinP Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Sorry to hear that you missed out on that amazing deal. I have had several of those moments where I was a couple minutes late to a deal and didn't get it. Quote
donliu Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I feel your pain. I had this happen to me several times on CL. and the funny thing is some BP on here beat me to it. lol Quote
Migration Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I keep waiting to see some deal I missed out on showing up on here, hasn't happened...Yet. Quote
tonysbricks Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 The listing had only been on there for a few hours. That is an eternity in my market. If you don't respond in 15 minutes you are probably not first in line. I have all but stopped trolling CL for this reason, it's either "too late" or "sorry price went up 200% due to number of responses". 1 Quote

I live in medium size city. I can't imagine how bad it is in a large area. I haven't ran into a person asking absorbent prices because of interest yet, but I'm sure I will at some point. Oh well though, maybe next time. Quote
Alpinemaps Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I live in San Diego. We have two problems here - one, people do grab sets quickly, so we get the "it's sold" and "it's now 300 times more expensive since everyone wants it." The other problem, though, is distance. There are places in this county that are more than an hour and a half drive. I've seen some great stuff on CL, but when I factor in the drive, it's just not worth it. Quote

The first time I took my then girlfriend now wife out to California we drove from Atlanta, she got all excited when we crossed the Arizona/California boarder and said "We'll be in LA in 45 minutes or so right?" I almost wrecked on I-10 I was laughing so hard. 1 Quote

I did score a couple of good deals for my personal collection though few weeks ago. Quote
