They still aren't shifting near where I am. Also I'm unable to enter the poll as my option isn't available. When they're 75% off in the Xmas 2018 clearance sale, I may buy one for the bits.

Yes, Stephen - a Triple E overflowing with them! The RI is picking up nicely again.

Shall I add a "returned them all" option to the poll? Ha

Retiring soon tag is another reason I don't want anymore of these. Good sets just retire, they don't announce it in a desperate bid for sales months and months in advance.

This is true.

So if this set really retires everywhere by say.. .May - June 2015, very cool. Less than 1 full year at retail for s great designed set from a well-liked theme.

Which theme do you mean? Ideas or Classic Space? Classic Space is well liked but stinks as an investment.

Both themes. I think this set along with Benny proved Lego Space can be successful once again with the right sets offered at retail.

Do you think Lego will issue a compliment set to 21109 like done with Minecraft?

I have a hunch resellers might have triggered the Exo Suit surplus (with stars and dollar signs in their eyes after RI), and now, after many returns, they have to slap it with "Retiring Soon" to clear the hanger.

I agree with the sentiment but IIRC, everyone was higher on the Exo to begin with.  That was due to the Rover having a short life and then the leaked image of a foreign catalog with the translated word "limited" dumped gas on the fire.

And the owner stating it was a single run.....and both that and RI would have been too, but the public outcry for RI was so huge that they relented and Lego ran a second run on both.  It miscalculated and ran too much exosuit and RI still didn't meet demand on the second run, but did manage to put out the public outcry.

Think they overdid it with the initial demand. Too large estimation because of the hype and now they're somewhat stuck with it. Has been double VIP long time too. Just another publicity stunt to clear out that infernal big pile of suits.

I'd believe their obvious message to consumers is simply that they are giving everyone who wants one at retail price advance notice. It will be a very short run for a lego set, and inline with other non licensed ideas sets.

Did lego  ever announce a set is retiring like this before?

I don't know what to think about this.

Yep they did with 10179. Obviously they grossly overestimated demand for this set (no idea why lol) and are stuck with 10k or so. Ouch.

LEGO should discount these if they're having a problem offloading them.  Will I want one at -50%  No!  I still don't see my option in the poll ;-)
