Doofy McGee Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Did anyone notice when looking at the box for this set that it shows Wolverine and Magneto with mask and helmet in one picture, and then both have hair in the other picture, all on the front cover? This leads to me to believe that they will come with headwear AND hair. That is something you don't see very often...or...ever. Has that been done before? I can't think of an example. I think it is a great move though. People love options! As far as investment impact... All I know is, if that artwork is accurate, it could have a reasonable impact on the value of the 6866 Wolverine. I know the costume is different, but if you slap the hair on there, it is very close to being the same figure. I could be dead wrong of course, but my gut says don't wait too long to sell your 6866 Wolvies. Link Quote
P38bam023 Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Off the top of my head I remember the Mandalorian Fighter (9525) with Pre Viszla having hair and his helmet. So it has been done before but the investment potential is considered by most to be nil on that set. However classic mask Wolverine should be money, especially to parter outers. I still can't get over the sentinel however. Wish they put a little more effort into it. Quote
Doofy McGee Posted April 9, 2014 Author Posted April 9, 2014 Amen. That Sentinel brings tears to my eyes. What a waste. I do think the new masked Wolverine is gonna be awesome for parting out/reselling. I am already looking forward to selling them! I was just trying to give people a friendly heads up that there current stash of Wolverines might be in for a bit of a hit when the new one comes out. Quote

Luke in a SW set has both hair and a helmet (I think the 7965 MF) Quote
chinothegeeko Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 First Jango fett from slave one set had hair and a helmet. Can't remember number Quote
jaisonline Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 The kid in a Harry Potter set had two sets of head (normal and shark) and Boushh Leia in Jabba's Palace also had hair plus a mask. It happens from time to time when the product has a need (especially if based on a licensed theme) Quote
nickguay Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Good observation! I'm looking forwarding to picking up one of those and playing with my kids Quote
sadowsk1 Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I'm looking forward to this set. I'd be more worried of the chinese knock offs reducing the price on past wolverines. Hardcore collectors are interested. The masses are less concerned about the branding as much as the price and temporarily appeasing their children. Quote
mudcatsfan Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Han and Luke with Stormtrooper helmets or Hair in the Death Star. Quote
Lego Collector 777 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Just wondering will Lego set 76022 eventually get a small discount in the next few months in the U.S? (for investment purposes) Like $44.99 each instead of $49.99?? Would like to buy a couple of them but would like to get them under $50 each after taxes etc or should I wait until a certain time to get discount on a couple of them? any thoughts? Quote
dbroncos59 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Not sure when but very likely it will be discounted in the future. The piece count and price are comparable to those of Hulk Lab Smash and Daily Bugle Showdown and those both have been marked down to $39.99 several times (I think they are on Amazon as I write this). I'd imagine this will follow suit. Just the matter of when. Quote
comicblast Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Eventually, yes. Usually sets don't get discounted in the first month of their release. In 6-8 months, discounts will probably be easier to find. Many retailers are just receiving their sets, so it is unlikely that it would be discounted so quickly. Quote
exciter1 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I expect the set to be on sale for under $35 at some point via BOGO, coupons, or Amazon price match. Quite a few of us were able to get Hulk Lab Smash and Joker Steamroller for $31 - $33 via coupons at TRU shortly after release. Quote
Trains 'n boats Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 4 mini figs, all unique to the set. Are there more x-men sets planned? I think it's a nice set. Good vehicle, good characters. I wish the sentinel was a little bigger. Interested to know if anyone else thinks this is a winner! TNB 1 Quote
jaisonline Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Hi, It sure has some cool minifigs. I also wish the Sentinel was large (maybe 10-12 inches tall). Here is a great thread to discuss this set. http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/9416-76022-x-men-vs-the-sentinel/ We can continue the discussion in that thread, Quote
Trains 'n boats Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I was able to get it for 33 after taxes on BN with my coupon. A little closer to retail than I like to pay, but I really like the set. D Quote
Jules_K Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 With the new Avengers sets coming out soon, do you think there is a chance this set hits retirement soon? Quote
exciter1 Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 With the new Avengers sets coming out soon, do you think there is a chance this set hits retirement soon? From a historical perspective, I don't see how it could retire before the end of the year. You never know, they're really pumping out the Super Heroes sets right now. Quote

You never know, they're really pumping out the Super Heroes sets right now. Sale at lego store raise some questions. They are definitely being cleared out of b&m stores in general. But no signs of online clearance yet. I do wonder about the future of lego xmen in general. Seems like a huge ip they are missing out on. Quote
thoroakenfelder Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 definitely being clearance in Walmarts.$35 Quote
maestro Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I can buy 76022 now with VIP points alone. I have €35 and this set is reduced to €34.99 ($40). Would this be a good investment? Or should I use my VIP points towards a UCS set? Thanks Quote
maestro Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 (edited) Too late now, it´s a retired product! Not on Irish store! Do I invest? Edited June 24, 2015 by maestro Quote
maestro Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Actually when I click Add to Bag it says Retired Product. Website obviously not updated Quote
