TheOrcKing Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Here I thought the sponge in brick form just dried up but instead find out that the license was acquired by Mega Bloks. Well I guess you just can't keep a good sponge down. Rather weird actually seeing the Invisible Boatmobile considering it is supposed to be, well, 'invisible'. Quote
Sauromosis Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 And now owned by Mattel, correct? Lego has a bit more competition now, not saying equal competition, but more. Quote
TheOrcKing Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 And now owned by Mattel, correct? Lego has a bit more competition now, not saying equal competition, but more.Yep. Mega Bloks now a part of Mattel certainly does hold a whole lot of intellectual properties in its deck of cards but then again they would need something to make up for the quality of their bricks. The designs for their Halo sets are rather spot-on but that line sees more re-releases/redesigns than even Lego with Star Wars. Quote
krayzie Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Hopefully lego is able to keep the marvel license. I would hate to see it go back to mega bloks. Quote
labfreak7 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Do you guys think this will hurt the existing Lego SpongeBob values? I thought now that the license is over that these would really start to increase in value. Quote
Blackjack Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Meh, it looks ok... FOR A HERETICAL AND INFERIOR PRODUCT!!! Quote
Achilles Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I think help the lego values. I agree. It will just keep interest in Spongebob Bricks, which should help the LEGO items - esp since they are compatible and fans of the show/kids won't care what brand of blocks they have. Quote
binici Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Everyone go out and buy all the remaining SB LEGO sets now! Quote
exciter1 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I saw the Krusty Krab set in KMart during lunch today. No, I didn't have a pretzel or nachos from the KMart snack bar. http://www.megabloks.com/en-us/shop/construction-toys/spongebob/krusty-krab-attack-94613 Quote
labfreak7 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Did you buy it? I was thinking it will hurt Lego spongebob values because now there is an alternative to a more expensive set Hopefully not. 1/2 of my brickfolio is Spongebob. Quote

MarleyMoose Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Heck no, the only Mega Blocks I have were purchased at 70% off.I still have some 2011 K~REO Tranformers left that I got at 75% off. Nobody really wants them. 1 Quote
Achilles Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 MegaBloks and K-Reo seem to have no real staying power, judging from the last few years. Even popular themes. Quote
comicblast Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 MegaBloks and K-Reo seem to have no real staying power, judging from the last few years. Even popular themes. Barring Halo, I agree. I'm curious though. I really liked the Lego SpongeBob theme, and the Mega Bloks version doesn't look all that bad to me... Quote
MartinP Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 and the Mega Bloks version doesn't look all that bad to me... I think your opinion would change as soon as you get that set and build it. Quote
sadowsk1 Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 They look ok. I prefer the Lego ones I have though. Quote
fuzzy_bricks Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Someone said that Mega Blocks CoD was good, but the few Skylanders sets we have are terrible. Quote
TheOrcKing Posted August 7, 2014 Author Posted August 7, 2014 I just saw these at Target as it seems the store is completely rearranging their building block aisles same as they were done two years ago. I must say the boxes with their vibrantly colored artwork is eye-catching to say the least. I found a small case of the random figure baggies they 'borrowed' from a better quality product line. The figures do match the characters from the cartoon to a "T" from the looks of everything, I will give Mega Bloks credit for that. If they had a Prehistoric SpongeBob and Patrick figure, I would have to buy those for my mother. That was her favorite episode. Haha. Someone said that Mega Blocks CoD was good, but the few Skylanders sets we have are terrible. There was a ton of those Skylanders packs just added to the clearance aisle of my Walmart and I do mean A TON. :O Quote

chinchy Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Invisible Boatmobile showed up at Target near my house this past week too.. I think it actually looks kinda cool. Although the blue tint is not exactly "clear". But I guess it's a good approximation of how Wonder Woman's invisible jet by lego will look? Quote
