This could be the most significant retiree in years. We should know within 6 months if the modular theme tanks for investing. I've taken a punt as I'll still offload for RRP (cash) in a year's time and make £18 per set on average. I think that the only tanking set of this size/type is the Simpsons House.

We shall see very soon it seems. You have called the Simpsons sets duds for a while.  Let's see how good your prognosticating powers are.

Singular please... It's only Simpsons House I have an issue with because, from what I've seen in several retailers, it just sits on the shelf to rot and I've never yet seen a customer pick one up to take a closer look let alone buy it. With other "modulars", I've often seen them picked up and taken straight to the check-out. Another reason is that the recent Simpsons shows are nowhere near as good as the originals and interest in the UK seems very low compared to the US.

Of course, it's my opinion and yours may well differ which I respect.

was told by smyths manager who checked warehouse stock in front of me that they only had 22 left and whats in stores. Just picked up 3 today as they have been a few gone through on ebay for £150, managed to get £6 of each using the voucher from an email, but my wife had to switch tills and be stealth like.. seems they are hot on there vouchers 1 per house hold per day.

not a great price but investing has to have some risks....

It would be interesting to compare the number of Brickpicker members when GE came off market to the ones when PS came off. This could be an estimate on numbers in sellers in comparison.

I reckon hoarded figures are similar because more people had GEs after EOL as it seemed more desirable than the PS. There's probably the same amount of GE as PS in the wild?

I'm not saying it will be great over time, but it's only just gone, and Smyths over here still have stock (2nd retailer I've checked only, I know Lego Shop have none) so it's not the best time to put the boot in. I've only got 5 of these and I don't have brilliant hopes for it. Just saying that it's a bit early for the posts beating the set up too badly. To be honest though, I don't have great hopes for any set due to you loads of misery guts :)

No UK sales is a given but one would expect other markets such as Germany to lead the way as this set seems to be hard to find there.

UK. One sold today, on a 7 day auction.

£113.11 + £12.00 shipping.

Give it a month and I will probably be agreeing with what you're forecasting. I don't see a reason why I won't at that point. There must be so many re-sellers with this set and some will be looking to get rid ASAP. I agree that this won't be a goldmine any time in the next 12 months or so. Could anyone make £20-40 in 6 months time, maybe? In this day and age, that is probably OK for some. It depends what you're looking for out of it. If I can make £50 a set within a year that's better than bank interest for me. This is the new game :)

But he has a point, PS was a rare sight at German retailers (unlike PC, PR, DO...)

PR is a rare sight too. Only to be found at a Lego Store or online at SaH.

Yes, retailers other than BM/LEGO Shop at Home (which list pretty much every set).

I think that was only the last two years. Before that time it was available at other shops too. If I remember correctly.

I don't remember ever seeing PS at such heavy weights like Galeria Kaufhof, Real or TRU. Intertoys used to have it, but I figured they might be using NL stock.

You are definitely right though that PR is much rarer these days than in its first 2 years. The same doesn't seem to be true for PC, has been widely available ever since, even heavily discounted (<100€) several times.

Hmmm... I may as well list PS in EU also if it's that rare ;-) Until now, I've only sold big sets to the UK as it's a lot less hassle.

List them in your local pub too - getting rid of this one is going to require patience and initiative.

Hard to find? I just have to take the stairs to the basement.

Galeria Ciglione, where multiple purchases are welcomed - not banned. Specialists in Lone Ranger and Lord of the Rings.

You are old news from 2014 like Mom and Pop. I have no Lone Ranger in stock anymore. And except for ToO also no Lord of the Rings.

Early days yet, let's wait and see. At least it won't struggle as much as the Ewok Village! The good thing about modulars is that it's easy to cash in for RRP within a fairly short period, I call it a no-lose gamble. Also John Lewis have a 90-day return policy so I'll simply return the 5 worst boxes (keep the best ones) that I have by mid-FEB if there's no sign of growth.

I sell bike parts down the pub as our Wed/Sun rides always end up at a pub stop. I sold a pair of mountian bike tyres for £30 last Sunday (cost me £9.98).

Grats for TLR, my house is soon to be a Chima free zone too.

Best news I had this weekend was doing inventory and realising I  had only bought 2 EV´s!

Isn't that 2 EVs too many? ;-)

I had an alcohol problem last night, I couldn't find the damn corkscrew to open the bottle of Barolo so I settled for a nearly-as-nice screw-topped New Zealand Pinot Noir instead. I actually bought the wine using some of my £75 worth of Majestic Wine vouchers that somebody gave me for a Friends Dolphin Cruiser. I feel another Boycie laugh coming on...
