One more production run is not going to mean anything on a set that's been available for five and a half years.

It depends on how big that run will be. If it's 500,000 units for example, we may as well offload our Pet Shops now to break even while they are on Back Order. LEGO are huge and we can't underestimate the size of that last production run. For all we know... TRU, Smyths & Amazon may have ordered another 250,000 units between them as we know some retailers are wise to post EOL sales. I'm surprised that nobody has let us know how big certain productions runs are apart from the obvious 20,000 for the 41999.

As an example, I hope that 1,000,000 fans already have the Pet Shop, 500,000 want it, "only" 100,000 are hoarded and 95% of the horde are impatient.

Don't be misled by the "Exclusive" tag as all current sets are sold at other retailers in the UK, not just LEGO.

Parisian Restaurant is nowhere to be found here. Except at SaH and the Lego Store.

Does it make sense to give up production capacity that could be used for new sets, for sets that are retiring?

If Lego had sense they would have pulled the plug on Chima quicker but would probably re-release quite a bit though to save loads on R&D. I accept that on this site that it is a hated idea but I cannot understand why they have not done it more.

CHIMA is a fantastic seller for LEGO. When I've seen it in toy shops, the kids are all over it. At least we can say that LEGO sell this crap theme to the target audience rather than reseller scum!

Sometimes companies need to make new lines to attract a broader range/new customers, there's only so many star wars/super hero's fan in the world's.

The same goes for all Scooby-Doo and Jurassic World sets. In addition, a lot of expensive sets are now exclusive to LEGO (LEGO Shop at Home plus stores): Pet Shop, Parisian Restaurant, Brick Bank, Big Ben, Sydney Opera House, Tower Bridge, Sandcrawler, Ghostbusters Firehouse Heaquarters, S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, Temple of Airjitzu, The Village, all CREATOR cars like T1and probably more.

Collishop.be got back TB and T1. So I expect I will be looking at these boxes in my storage for another year!

They also got the Brick Bank, Ferrari and Temple of Airjitzu now.

Yes, a number of Belgian/Dutch resellers now carry (more) "exclusives". Bartsmit also carry Airjitzu, Batcave, UCS TIE, TB, Slave I, Brick Bank, T1, Mini Cooper, F40 and SW. They have very bad prices though, so only worth it if you somehow manage to find an amazing discount.

The porsche is also pretty much everywhere.

The whole "exclusive" / "hard to find" thing, is complete BS. They should just be honest and introduce the "expensive" tag.

Guys, just accept that there's no such thing as a truly exclusive set sold by LEGO only!

That's the case in the UK and a lot of those other retailers will ship overseas.

Also there's no such thing as a "Hard to find" sets as everything is available everywhere in huge quantities until Hell freezes over!

Go and read the this by thoroakenfelder it details Chima in an interesting light and highlights some poor execution of the plan.

My kids dig the Chima stuff, I can see some appeal for it, and it lasted longer than Angry Birds, Scooby Doo, Ultra Agents, and many other lines. It just doesn't have any lasting appeal and failed to reach out to more "mature" collectors. Ninjago at least has some sets that appeal across age lines. Will Nexo Knights? There are markets for most of this stuff, some of it will sell as a spur of the moment decision, and some because it looks cool to kids. But you can bet that in 15-20 years wen these kids have matured, they're not going to be asking for a return to Chima.

LEGO is probably trying to find ways to transition Chima builds to other lines. my guess is that the most recent Killer Croc set had elements that evolved from Chima designs.

It's a no brainer - buy 2x PS instead of 1x EV. The PS should see growth while recent Star Wars UCS appears to have stagnated. Oh, buy 1 at a time so you get 2 promos, it worked for me with the buses.

We never really had any big discounts in the Netherlands and Belgium for this. Mainland Europe only has some online shops that offer big discounts, but we cannot buy there.

Sure we did, you just have to know where to look ;)

You've been lobbying a little too hard against EV; methinks thou doth protest a little too much...hmmm.....
