So you're thinking:

1. maybe it's not as hoarded as we assume?

or

2. maybe the consumer market has already reached saturation, and literally no one (outside brickpickers) is buying this thing anymore?

The second point is a truly scary proposition. Without a doubt there are too many in cupboards to be consumed by end user demand. PS has become a dog of an investment,  especially in the 2016 and beyond market.

We can be very content if this set reaches 200 euro several months after retirement. But I am afraid it will remain at RRP for a year or two.

Timing will be key to making the most money out of this one when it goes.

Seems like the case with most sets these days, dump on the plateau before the downhill ;-)

And it should be around for another 6 months on shelves ?

If it's not sold out at LEGO Shop at Home by the end of next month, it'll be another year on the shelves. I lot aren't too keen on this modular and it could help those that have it.

So that tells me that "The Horde" may think that the Palace Cinema will be the one hoarded in 2017?

I have 77 of them all bought during various 20% off sales. No Palace Cinemas (apart from the 1 I have) until this time next year if (ONLY IF) the Pet Shop does well.

Nice buy in, guessing there wont be any more flash sales for PS ? After Smyths did their recent 20% off don't see toys r us or John Lewis giving any discounts on modular sadly. Daamn can I see a picture off 77 PS woah do you rent storage that's mad ! haha love it

It all depends if they hang on or not. BTW... Most of them came from Smyths and Amazon.

There are just too many of them even when Lego LEGO Shop at Home clears this will be around months later like the tumbler.

People said that about 9493 x wing and 7965 MF so be careful what you say. This set sells and we should monitor Ebay and the like closely as within a month it could easily become "rare" below RRP.

It's on Back Order which tells me that LEGO are either recovering stock from their shop and other retailers or the Oompa-Loompas are going to set the cogs turning one last time. What worries me is that the last production run may be the biggest ever! Seal code 40S6 is the latest so far. If we see 47S6 then we've got a VERY long hold ;-(

Does it make sense to give up production capacity that could be used for new sets, for sets that are retiring?

If I were production manager, I´d dedicate cacpacity to the sets that sell the best and give me the most profit. T1 is apparently outselling all the other cars except the Beetle so why stop it? R+D and promotion costs have been amortised. Compare and contrast to the money they are throwing at Nexo Knights to try and establish it as a successful theme.
