Based purely on shop visits and TRU Spain stock data (we can see what they have but it is not always accurate - 80 HE disappeared overnight) these are the winnners and losers.

Winners: GE, PS, PR

Losers: TH, PC

Last year the PS was everywhere but is now becoming really hard to find as if it was a LEGO shop exclusive like the DO is for now.

Perhaps it's just geographical "semantics"; which stores do you frequent?

Weekly coverage for:

- Canoga Park, CA store

- Glendale, CA store

- Anaheim, CA (Downtown Disney) store

- Costa Mesa, CA store

- Mission Viejo, CA store

- LEGOLAND, CA store (i.e. "The Big Shop")

San Diego, CA store

Bi-weekly visits to:

- Chandler, AZ store

- Glendale, AZ store

Bi-weekly visits via brother to Downtown Disney store in Orlando, FL; top selling Disney store in the world.

I'm not trying to play "who's got a bigger one" with you, but I know what I am talking about. If your coverage net is stronger and  more qualified than mine, then by all means- please enlighten me.

I wasn't try to discredit you I was apologies if I came off that way. So let me get this straight so there will be no confusion on my part and there is 100% no sarcasm in this question........You know all the managers, assistant managers and higher ups at the stores you listed and they share TLGs intimate secrets with you including sales numbers? if that's the case then good for you you appear to have a leg up on every other investor here.

Ok so the TH sold poorly in your stores, The managers at my stores stated otherwise. So the managers at your store correct and mine are lying.....got it thanks for clarifying.

1.  I think you can be a little nicer with your posts.   Life is short - be nice to people.  I know you are just fishing for the truth and want to get rid of misinformation, but it can be done in a friendlier fashion.

2.  Here is one point of data for Town Hall sales:  Amazon sales ranking via ccc.  Click on the Sales Rank tab, and select 1y.

vs. Pet Shop

It seems pretty clear that PS has always sold better than Town Hall ever did (except now when darin is buying all of them).  It's of course possible than Town Hall sold like gangbusters elsewhere and we just don't know it.  But that seems improbable given its early retirement.

Have a nice day!

I know the truth and that's why we have a "what I heard from a Lego store employee" thread. Thanks for the advice I will have a great day and you have a wonderful day as well!

It isn't an opinion, it is a fact based on 8-10 stores

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Brickpicker mobile app

Well with that kind of sample size, you pretty much have all the datas.

Ok this is silly and should just stop it's not helping the forum and I apologize for my part it. I will say this and be done......it is highly probable that no regular employee has any valuable info and the managers who have access to that info certainly aren't sharing with a random Joe who walks in and if by some random act of extreme luckiness 1 store is 8-10 stores aren't doing the same for the person. OK back to the pet shop. I like it and it's been out for a while now.

I wish folks would stop thinking in such black-and-white, true-and-false, rigid terms.

I too believe TH was a poor seller based on my own observations, and very limited chat with employees. I fully believe there is merit in what Cross says too, as his experiences are wider and deeper than my own.

But at the same time, I don't take either of our opinions as gospel in terms of actual sales numbers or objective truth. That would be foolish.

But o disregard seemingly reputable information based on the principle that if the whole truth can't be known, then nothing else can be considered true is equally or more foolish.

As I've said elsewhere, pieces of information like these are INDICATORS and merely pieces of a puzzle. They can be key to figuring it all out, or misleading, or meaningless. The investors who figure out which indicators go in which bucket first will generally be able to maximize their investment better than those who don't.

Let's allow some room for different perspectives and uncertainty in our discussions, eh?

(But I do appreciate the moderator beat-down on those completely obnoxious know-it-all posts especially by new members, for the record. :P)

I think I and many others have underestimated the popularity of the Pet Shop.

I think the row house expansions folks can do with this set gives them many options and it may be popular for this reason.

We need a farm house, in the suburbs modular.

The PS is extremely popular. It is one of the best value parts packs for bricklink sellers . It is very common for a collector to have 2 PS in a display as it is the only residential style modular and can be split up to flesh out the layout. The blue grocer is also becoming a very popular alternative for GG. If you MOC modulars you will most likely start with PS for the windows, doors etc and go from there. Would TLG extend the shelf life of a very popular selling modular? They did it with FB and GE so why not? I see this set as the backbone of the entire modular theme and it may be around for many years to come.

I think it will be the new DS of the modulars. Plenty of time to acquire it during double VIP and a promo. Luckily the set was scarce and limited available here in Holland, good opportunity to dump my excess acquired PS stock against retail prices to go back to a 'for me' more normal level of PS stock.

Indeed. Even though I know that pet themed sets might have some extra appeal, I didn't think that there's a big market for the intersection between pets and modulars.

I still don't think that those people that are ready to pay way above MSRP after EOL would favor PS over other modulars though.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see what happens when new AFOLS are missing multiple modulars. One would assume that CC, GG and TH will all be out of reach pricewise within a few yeats and that may actually favour the more common ones like GE, FB and PS as they could be more affordable and more in demand.

Anyone who comes in now is going to be looking at spending serious cash on the modulars that have already EOl

Think of PS as TLGs parts pack for modular fans and do not concentrate on the pets aspect. The new and exciting modulars get the new customer to experience their first modular. They then get hooked and go back to collect all that are available (and go to the aftermarket to get those that are not). The final evolution is for that customer to design their own modulars and for that you start with 10218 and a certain other set if you want alot of tan pieces.

I would kine it a lot better if it were a shelter and not a shop. I loath the idea of pets being for sale. Shelters are overwhelmed in this country, no one should be selling pets until we stop having to destroy adoptable dogs and cats.

I know it's just a toy and that's a bit over the top. I do have several of these. Just think Lego could have presented a great teaching moment for a lot of kids by making it a shelter.

Sounds like a Lego Ideas project?  Should get some likes if done well...
