Boothferrylad
Bought the SC last week at full price, alongside the Endor Forest set, but have alot of VIP points now so they may be used on another SC. As much as I like the set they are only investment they would only be investment buys I only have so much room and my Slave 1 is my current big set on display

Less interest, maybe, but I don't think anyone hates it. BTW, my favorite vehicle, long before this UCS monstrosity showed it's face. Hate might be a strong word. How about apathetic?

jeff_14
After reading this thread barrage for a day I caved and hit my local Lego store and picked up one. I've been on the fence on this one, both for investing and personal use as I have the previous version which is quite nice. Worse case I can open it and have a Jawa swap meet. I will say that the one I picked up is in pristine condition so I'm interested to see where this ride goes. This is the most expensive investment set I've bought yet and told myself I can probably offload it on craigslist by Christmas for $50-$100 profit if it is gone now or shortly so that's not bad for a few months. fossilrock
It truly is one of the best builds in the Star Wars theme, by far. I think people see the box art, and it doesn't do the set justice. You really have to see this set in person, open it, and see all the features to appreciate it. Also, the building part is the best aspect. My son and I made a fun little timelapse out of this set that took us about a month to do... i'll have to upload it some time ..

Yes, from what people say, it is a set that needs to be built to be appreciated. I haven't built it, so I am not in love with it, but I still think it's a quality set with potential. The box is rather gaudy IMO, giving it a "cartoonish" look.
lego rules
I remember when I first saw the release images and didn't really like it compared to the older one. As time went on, it grew on me. As more time went on, I built it. It is a very nice set, well designed with a lot of play ability but also a nice display set. My choice is for the newer one over the older one for sure so I think this set will be in demand. I have my dozen or so which I picked up on a very nice discount. I would pick up some more if they discounted them again.
donbee
One of the most important investment lessons is to invest when other people are pulling away. Then You must be buying up lots of Nintendo stock now.

Nintendo stock is just "returning to it's mean" after Pokemon Go made the market go a little mad. It's trading about where it was a year ago. Mario and co. aren't going anywhere. I'm hoping the new Zelda game is a winner. Edited August 25, 2016 by biking_tiger

Emvisawthatswho
Seems like a lot of hesitation with the new Death Star release looming. There seem to be way too many sets (modular, UCS) available and something has to give. All this speculation and lack of action from TLG seems to be making us a bit crazy. marcandre
Anyone thing labeling this sold out for a day was a calculated move by lego? Europe is overstocked so drop the sold out tag on it, investors wipe out all N American inventory, then put it back to available while stock is moved west. Ciglione
Eventhough I decided to boycot Lego, I am tempted to order another one of these. I fell in love with the boxart straight away! However, when I look at my sales record, I did not make that much profit on sold exclusives. Except Town Hall, EEE and Haunted House most exclusive sales I made resulted in just marginal profits. Non-exclusives have had such better results. And they are easier to ship and take less storage space. Yes, I've sold some of my TH's, EEE's and HH's. I always do that. I calculate it in at my quota. But do not worry. There is more where that came from.
