Voltron Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Has a UCS set ever retired in US before Europe? Quote

I'd say it will hover from 400.00 to 450.00 and sits there for a while until half the resellers cave, and sell off their stock, and make 20.00 after fees and the horrendous shipping fees. fossilrock Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 (edited) 6 minutes ago, asharerin said: Think Sea Cow without the cratering: Maybe. I'm definitely interested in watching where it goes. I've always thought if this is around for just about 2 years it has more of a chance to go like the SSD over a few years. I personally love this set and hope it does well. I have a few so it would be nice to watch it go that route. Although, I think this will be back a few more times and isn't completely gone. I wouldn't doubt if there's another run on this one yet. This is always lego's game it seems. Sell it out by july/august and give the impression it's done, which ramps up people's demand and makes them churn like crazy, then they will make another batch, and leak them out and they will sell out in a week or two. Last year they did this with so many exclusive sets, it made my head spin. I'd suspect we see more in October, and perhaps November before they finally retire it next year. So, I think there will be more to be stocked up. I'm not buying that this is completely done, just yet. I'm actually just waiting for that "Check back in october message"... I kind of feel a bit foolish now for buying 3 Tie Fighters last month, although I bought them all at a discount, and just reinvested stock from other sets I had sold. I don't think the TIE is doing an early retirement with the Sandcrawler now doing what seems like a final dance act, although who knows. Edited August 23, 2016 by fossilrock 1 Quote

Probably few more batches before killing it. Quote

We thought the same about ToO last year. It went in August/September. Quote

If I recall, wasn't the TOO available up until about December of last year? I quit investing in that one during the spring of 2015, so I didn't pay too much attention at the end, but I believe in the US it was still trickling in and out of stock at amazon or walmart for quite some time. Maybe... but I thought Lego was out after August/September. So production was already halted. Quote
Ed Mack Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Looks like there is still hope in the LEGO investing/reselling world. Funny how things change so rapidly. The 75159 could have destroyed the LEGO investing world and the 75059 might save it. 7 Quote
fossilrock Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 No one has bought a sandcrawler at 2x just yet. Quote
Ed Mack Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 If this set indeed retires now, this could be your next $1000 set. I agree with emazers on this one. I doubt you will see another UCS Sandcrawler for a long time. Quote
Deanfjr Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Sold Out, is not the same as Retired ..... Quote

Ed Mack Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Maybe Lego felt guilty and put the axe on the sandcrawler as compensation for their reselling customers?I think the Sandcrawler has been sitting there for months with few takers, being overshadowed by flashier sets. If it does retire now, it will be one of the least hoarded big sets in recent memory. Quote

BrickU Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 I don't think $1000 is realistic. Perhaps $600 in 2 years. Not at the same level as the SSD, not even close. Too many choices now a days. It would have to reappear in a movie. Might see a jump in 10144 though. Quote

This is a $300 UCS set which is not hoarded and probably won't be remade again. Three times MSRP is not unrealistic for a quality set like this, considering the intense interest in STAR WARS collectibles as of late. Quote
