Besides that, we're a small drop in the ocean of lego sales probably. The current number 2 is a 329.99€ set (Porsche).

Perhaps then, we're just not that big of a group of buyers or people (like myself) tend to buy via bricklink. Or maybe I'm wrong... Val-E
Doesn´t matter, when something big is rumoured to retire, the horde goes into action. I think this shows there is a certain amount of investment fatigue out there right now. Too many folk have sunk money into PS; DS, T1 and Ectos with no return and are noy buying anymore.

I think you are probably right there. One of the most important investment lessons is to invest when other people are pulling away. As Lego is likely to at least have a value of around RRP, buying at discount is a safe way to invest, I think. Quick huge returns might be less likely, but if you're willing to wait 5 to 10 years, your investment will do better than other investment options. Val-E
That was the old school. Now waiting 5-10 years is a higher risk strategy due to remakes and clones.
Ciglione
Did anyone in Europe purchase a Sandcrawler lately? If so, please post the seal codes? So we can get an idea of how popular this set is in Europe and where production is at.

Ed Mack
This set was a slow seller. The horde can make it a top seller. We are our own worst enemy in some cases.

Then again as soon as EV goes to "call to check" the exact same thing will probably happen. Edited August 25, 2016 by c_rpg

Basically you're telling us this is the Sea Cow of Star Wars sets. Like I've mentioned many times below, I can't understand why more folks haven't built this set w/in the last 26+ months because it's a joy to build. It's basically a technic set which just happens to utilize regular Lego plates.

I'd consider 10212 - Imperial Shuttle somewhat of a Technic build too, also a joy.

These folks like to remain on the down low. We have some regular posters who don't post advertisments about how many of each set they buy. Let's just say when I purchased 16 $99 10227 b-wings back from shop@home and TRU, I thought that was a lot. It was nothing compared to what some members bought on that same day.

Also true and I'm very aware. But SC frenzy is nothing compared with Tumbler frenzy - but then again, LEGO hasn't slapped the "Retired Product" badge on the set yet, so more hoarding might still be to come

SC's behavior is no different than any other exclusive starting to do the dance. it goes to sold out, then they find some orderable with a delayed date, then it goes to sold out again. As long as we don't get some TOOS or check back in February, everything is beautiful. Edited August 25, 2016 by cladner

These days alot of the horde has been destroyed by DS, TB, T1 and PS so it may take a week or two to clear what is left from TLG. If we see a Feb date then yes that would confirm a new run lol.

I remember sneaking in a few SSD orders from shop at home the very last minute. Those were the days... Destroyed by 10188? They are sets that get mixed reviews from fans...one side loves them...one side hates them, but more often than not, they are very solid performers. Many people don't pay attention till it's too late.

BTW, my favorite vehicle, long before this UCS monstrosity showed it's face.
