Pseudoty Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Now over 10,000. I think this would bring in a lot of new AFOLs great crossover between two brands 1 Quote
sahminnj Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 very cool. so impressed with what people come up with Quote
TheDarkness Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 It looks ok but I don't like it's chances..... Quote
Crustybeaver Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Looks terrible, can't believe 10000 people thought this was worth a general release. Would be very surprised if Lego roll with this one. Quote
Sandwraith Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Like the idea, but not necessarily the build. Quote
spener90 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I don't like it. The open back, generic design, it just seems forced. I wouldn't mind an apple store though, because apple fans spend a lot on overpriced tech, so I wouldn't mind them becoming Lego collectors too... 2 Quote
DoNotInsertIntoMouth Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I like it - I would buy it just because it looks cool. Quote
jaisonline Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 If it comes with a Steve Jobs-like figure, wow. It will do very well if selected. Sent from an iPhone using the Brickpicker app Quote
fuzzy_bricks Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I'm not really a fan. The concept is fine, the execution isn't the greatest. Not that I could do better. Quote
citymorgue Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I highly doubt this will ever be produced. Apple will charge a ridiculous amount on licensing fees. Not to mention that it doesn't jive with their modular theme now. Same reason that the Western Modulars didn't make it past the review and that wasn't a licensed item. Personally, I'm not a fan of this at all. For one, I'm not a big fan of Apple, and two, it's just so generic. Also, if it didn't have an Apple logo on the side, who honestly believes this would have come close to 10,000 supporters??? I would kinda have a hard time trying to figure out exactly what it was the builder was making without the logo. Quote
vincevaughn Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Kinda looks bland...the staircase is nicely done. Hope it doesn't get made as apple is a demon spawn company that needs to go out of business yesterday for setting back the face of technology 20 years.... In case you didnt realize I am not an apple fan :P Quote
holleman67 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 This is just ridiculous, not that I am biased by any means just don't see why people like the idea and the execution looks elementary Quote
Guest TabbyBoy Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 It looks like it's been made by a 5yr old. 10,000 people need to see an optician and/or a shrink. Do I like it? Hmmm... let me think about it. NO !!! Quote
binici Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 If they tweak it and made it look more vibrant then it might be great, but this is just meh! Quote
jal4u2c Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Maybe i'm imagining things, but didn't CUUSOO say in their new rules outline that they would not consider any licensed sets in future admissions? I know we got Ghostbusters but technically it had already reached that stage before they came out with the new rules. Quote
Crustybeaver Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I like it - I would buy it just because it looks cool. sarcasm much? Quote
holleman67 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I think they should kill this with fire Quote
@rtisan Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 While I too would love to see this get made, I don`t see it happening. This sort of thing really isn`t, or at least, hasn`t been Lego`s style. A clearly marked "Apple" store promotes consumerism and such, if nothing else, rather than creative play, and for that reason and others I don`t see it happening. Little bit difficult to put into words, but it`s not the same as a movie license theme where the sets are based on something else. An Apple store or anything of the like carries/promotes a separate brand name all together. A set would make a better Apple store opening/giveaway more that anything else, but not an addition to the Lego lineup. It could happen of course, but this would seriously be surprising. Quote
TheOrcKing Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 While it does feature a couple of neat techniques used, the overall appearance is about as pleasing as an old computer tower. In other words, it's a big gray box. If Lego rejected the more interesting Mini Shops project then this surely will be rejected in the same manner. Quote
segreto Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Every Apple fan will buy one. So that is what 30% of the population of the modernized nations? Seems like a no lose product. Add 100% of the Lego collectors, and you have a pretty big number. And, just to be more ubiquitous, it can be sold in every Apple store. I like my iPod and Pad, though I hate the Apple store. I would still buy this set though. I would even buy one to build. Would be a cool addition to any city set in someones basement. And, just wait, it would be a very profitable scene for the next movie. Quote
Crustybeaver Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 That's ridiculous, I like Apple products but I wouldn't shell out for this piece of shonky junk. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Quote
Guest davewager78 Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Not a fan of this. A couple of neat builds, like the stairs, but the rest isn't great. If it was tricky to make a smooth top to a Taj Mahal, and a smooth bonnet for a VW beetle, then it was always going to be tricky to make a convincing Apple logo, even large size in 2D Also, I think there's someone of eBay selling instructions for a modular building with an Apple store on the ground floor, and an apartment above. The store might not be branded as such (can't remember), but it's obvious what it is. The build from these instructions looks MUCH nicer than the one we're discussing here Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Quote
Guest TabbyBoy Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Just taken another look to be sure and I hate this monstrosity even more. LEGO are bonkers to release crap like this. At least make it look like an Apple store, not a deformed iceberg. Has the creator of this been let out on good behaviour yet? Quote
