kunfuzd Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 My 5-year old seems to be enjoy playing with the Microfighters: Clone Turbo Tank AAT Millenium Falcon TIE Interceptor X-Wing Fighter Star Destroyer Having the mini-figure sit in the ship powered by weapons is a major plus (over the Planets Series)! killhuman Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I think that these sets are awesome! The X-Wing is great! Quote
Guest brickcrazyhouse Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 TLG is crafty just wait like the planets series 4 of these mico fighters will be the best and only available in europe Quote
Sandwraith Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Keep meaning to grab the Falcon just for fun, but my local Lego store still does not have the 2014 stuff. And i'm waiting for March to buy anything on shop@home. Quote
DoNotInsertIntoMouth Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 So I just built 4 of the 6 Microfighters - I didn't grab the Xwing or the AAT because I hate them so much at the moment. Ill wait for inevitable clearance on them. What does everyone think? I personally miss the planet series. I don't hate these though - they are somewhat interesting and I definitely see the appeal for children. Quote
Migration Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Personally I don't care for any of these, as far as investment potential I'm holding off for the moment. I may reconsider if they start selling out or if I find them at a big markdown. Quote
Pseudoty Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I built these also and the tie fighter is the nicest of the 6 IMO, and no stickers! I got them at TRU with the BOGO so only $7.50 each no tax. But these were sitting on the shelves at every store I went to on Saturday. Quote

My kids will dig them, one minigfig and one little vehicle, you can't really go wrong. They liked the planets, but there wasn't a place for the minifig to drive the vehicle. Plus, at this pricepoint you can use them as bribes/rewards for chores, etc. 3 Quote
Guest TabbyBoy Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 From next month, I'm steering away from smaller sets unless they have desirable minifigs and are exclusives. Too much work to earn pennies. Quote
Guest brickcrazyhouse Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 the kid builder in me says YAAAAAYY the adult investor in me says yay when I find them on clearance Quote
Alpinemaps Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Personally, I think these also appeal to people in their Dark Ages, who want something for their desk at work. The 20-40 somethings. Sent from my iPad using Brickpicker Quote
DoNotInsertIntoMouth Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Yeah I mostly meant as a collector - I don't think they are too much worth investing in. Although the Planet series Tie Interceptor did well, so maybe this one will. Quote
Huskers1236 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I'm in the Nay camp. Won't buy to build, collect, invest, nothing. I didn't like them when pictures came out, I don't like them seeing them built. While the Planets themselves were pretty dumb, the little mini builds were nice iterations of their full size counterparts. I think if they had done this with these, and not made the figure ride the mini build, they would take to me a little better. Quote
Darth_Raichu Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I got all (via TRU BOGO) except the AAT as I hate using those when playing SW Battlefront II. They have their charm and a good conversation starter due to their uniqueness. Also, it is easier to take 5 minutes break and play around with mini MF vs SD instead of their system couterparts. Plus over the weekend I saw probably the best use of it, as a birthday cake topper. So, yay for collecting, wait and see for investing 4 Quote
Guest brickcrazyhouse Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 they remind me of the baby versions of cartoon characters http://www.google.com/search?q=baby+x-men&client=safari&rls=en&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=G2MLU_z5JbPKsQTG1IDIBQ&ved=0CCYQsAQ&biw=1280&bih=664#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=7iO1SlJne0ZzSM%253A%3BUBbboiQipF0KyM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Ffc07.deviantart.net%252Ffs71%252Ff%252F2011%252F152%252Fa%252F7%252Fbaby_90__s_x_men_by_olivernome-d3hsouh.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Folivernome.deviantart.com%252Fart%252FBaby-90-s-X-men-211290569%3B900%3B1304 Quote
Darth_Raichu Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 They reminded me of SD (Super Deformed) versions of Gundam (or other japanese anime). This: '> as supposed to this: '> Quote
DirtyZ Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I like them quite a bit personally. Investment?... Meh. But I will probably grab a few to build. I don't get the hate for the x-wing either. Sure its the most cartoonish build of any of them, but I think its pretty cool in that sense. Quote
Blackjack Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I just see them as a gimmick Lego created to sell cheap figs for high prices. Not sure about the investment potential yet. Sent from my iPod touch using Brickpicker Quote

Sent from my iPod touch using Brickpicker Isn't that the principle behind all of those Clone Wars sets ? Hmm, what would make people spend $120 on this blue monstrosity that only appeared in a few episodes of season 1...?? Oh I know, put a General Grievous and a unique Padme in it :D 1 Quote
stackables Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 For $10 hard to justify getting any. I think I might prefer them to the planet line which I completely passed on. Quote
Slogghead Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 They seem to be selling well at all locations I go to. I think you are right in that younger fans will be picking these up as well as completionists. The Falcon was sold out everywhere. It could be a gem if it does well and kids rip them open, and Lego has a limited production run to be on the safe side. Quote
Achilles Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 As a SW fan and a LEGO fan, I think these are awesome. Every SW fan I've shown them too also thinks they are awesome. They sit nicely on a shelf and a little easier to display then the Planets series (which I also like), because your eye is focused on the whole thing. They just look "fun". The kids I've shown them too also think they are great. I was also impressed with the quality and detail of the build of each set. And even if you think they look too cute, you can simply remove the "pilot" of each ship and the flick guns and they are quite good looking on their own. I think they look sharp completed and on a shelf. My only gripe is they used a "Generic" X-Wing pilot instead of taking the excuse to use a named pilot that hasn't made an appearance yet. In terms of investment potential, who knows? I'd like to point out the X-Wing and Tie w/Death star Planet series are both doing just fine, if you bought them for $5-$7. Even Endor with the AT-ST is starting to make some gains. I think at least the 4 Original Series microfighters should do just fine. There is no way they sell for under $15 after retirement, so if you get them at $5 a pop, you're in great shape. 1 Quote

It could be a gem if it does well and kids rip them open, and Lego has a limited production run to be on the safe side. I Wanted to grab the Falcon just for something fun to build last Friday night. And for the life of me i could not find one, i found every other one in multiple stores except the Falcon. Finally ended up finding the last one in stock on the shelf in a Lego store, which was packed with kids riffling through these and bringing up their allowances to purchase them, it was cute It's a fun little thing to fiddle with on my desk, and certainly has that "Chubby" look and feel to it as others have pointed out. Might end up getting a few others, but the Clone Tank and AAT don't appeal to me. Quote
biniou Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 The millenium falcon is nice, han solo is cute, it's ok for display with the x-wing, but the other sets... erf. Not fond of. For investments you could consider only if you take all of these sets (6 for the wave 1). Don't have to bother by taking some randmoly (expected for the millenium because if someone wants it, he has to buy a 150$ version, so I think it's ok to have some of these). A good way to have these sets is with a "buy two have three". In France such sales was avaliable in a general store (auchan). Quote
SuperGeek Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I have the Millenium Falcon and X-Wing sitting on my desk at work. My friends I've shown them to love them as well. I definitely think it's too soon for investment, but original series vehicles could end up in the $15-20 range. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker 1 Quote
